Thread: Publish 24 Resource Bug **The Devs are working on a fix**

Seemslike allowing harv's tobe planted on Mustafarwould fix this whole problem. Then WS's could get their stash of decent metals and weapon crafting can go back to normal. If most resources on Mustafar have high numbers, it shouldn't take long for new Mustafar resources to replace existing "bests". So for a short time (month or two) weapons will be below-average until the spawns on Mustafar get us back to where we were before this Pub.24 change.
The good news is that we won't have to keep track of all the various max stats on gated resources and have to compare every resource against a spreadsheet of the max ever spawned (which is a pain!).
It now changes to simple 1000-basedmath for all crafting experimentation in all professions, and all resources can get up to 1000 now (albiet only on Mustafar). So if you couldplant harv's on Mustafar, everyone could get their stash of high-stat resources and the "best ever" would always be 990+ on all important stats. So this change simplifies everything!
i think thats a negative though, but unfortunately it has been a trend lately. they are moving to wow crafting.
once everyone has and can use pretty much perfect resources theyll pull stats from them entirely and crafting will be nothing but fill the recipe and poof there it is. the caps moved things this way, the resource buffs do it, the crafting cube, and now these changes.
my only concern is its beyond the point where anything can be done. devs have their minds made up it seems.

I think you are right.....the best and deepest part of the game is being destroyed...slowly but surely

I was crafting a republic blaster and had aferous metal slot, I knew I had a highly desirable steel called caipav but I had to look twice when I saw that the green line wasnt hitting as high as itdid the last time I used it. I have only updated all my component schematics since the resource buff changes so I dont have much to go on (but this is the point that we dont want the system to keep changing making our schematics obsolete its another stealth grind we can do well do without).Alot of weapons use ferrous metal so alot will be effected. Neither the T21 or the ALR have ferrous metal in, or does this also effect metal and copper?
I do want to know [from devs] exactly which caps have been moved cause I like to think I can calculate what the best resource is and have made lists and spreadsheets to help me do this.

do we really have to wait a good spawn on mustafar (where we can't place harvester) to craft nice weapons ?
you dont have to wait. its looking like mustafar always has uber metals.
you just have to PAY for your chance to afk hand sample.

For all off you asking for response to this. I have to say I have made a post on the correspondent forum and have yet to recieve a reply as to wether this is intended or not. (I still believe it is a bug, but that is only me guessing and I could be wrong).
I promise the second I have any dev information to be sharedI will post it here

mention anything there about whether or not the ubahness of mustafarian metals we are seeing on every server is intended or this was just the rarest freakiest most amazing spawn roll ever for every galaxy?

Second thing: So is plumbum iron going to spawn on Mustafar? Plumbum's max CD was92 I think - something like that. I don't quite get what you mean when you say "generic" resources. Is that just non-JTL, non-asteroidresources? If so, then eventually Plumbum should spawn on Mustafar, and if its not capped at 92 CD then it will greatly affect the half-dozen or so weapons that use it.
This change basically makes having "the best" resources be critical again (like pre-JTL). Only problem is that "best" can now be topped by what shows up on Mustafar.
Ok, need to clear some things up before we start getting our panties in more of a wad:
Right now, If you check a resource deed, you will only find "generic" resources. "Mustafar Steel", "Mustafar Iron", etc. From the one schematic I've seen for a new weapon, it calls for some 'current' resources and a bit of "Mustafar Steel".
'Current' resources may well spawn on Musty, but they will likely spawn on other planets as well.

This post should be stickied.

Sadly, I also think you are correct. And crafting is what brought me to this game in the first place, and with it, I grew to 5 accounts, leadership of an active guild, and a lot of other gaming goodness. The things that have been done to crafting and crafters are horrible, and recent actions are just a continuation of the trend.
I admit recently I've been looking at other games. I'm beta-testing some interesting stuf for the future. I've got an EVE account. I'm not planning on purchasing another FIVE expansions (TOW) and will probably only buy it for my current Jedi toon (which, fortunately, has a surveyor as the unlocked toon). When my other 2 FS toons reach Jedi (if they ever do), I'll decide from the first one whether or not it's worth the further expense. So, we've gonefrom a dedicated-hyper-SWG player spending for all expansions on 5 accounts (yes, I realize just how bad a rip-off JtL was once RotW was released...my fault...caveat emptor) to looking for other games to play and definitely NOT buying 5 TOWs.
I have also decided I will no longer purchase ANY Sony products in the future, including TVs, Audio systems, etc. etc. Once my rack dies (it's all old Sony stuf) and my Trinatrons poof (Sony), other companies' products will replace them. Empty threat? I haven't drunk a Bud or eaten an Eagle Snack in 20 years, nor have I visited Busch Gardens. A guy at Anheiser Busch p'd me off on a job once, and I swore never again to buy any of their products. 20 years and still going.
I truly hope this resource problem is a bug and not "as intended". It affects the metals when they require CD. Since all guns require a little generic metal, even the Elite Carb, it affects them all. And the more it requires, the more it affects them. Poor commandos. They finally, after 2 years, get a little love, and their weapons now can't be crafted. It doesn't affect melee weapons, but they already turned our melee-weapons trade into dust with RotW.
Doing away with resource caps...let's see, back in the Day, resources didn't have caps, but it was a REAL accomplishment to have ONE heavy harvey, much less whole fields of them. Then came the resource caps. Took me a year to find a reasonable plumbum iron, to say nothing of the rare gemstones, etc. So, now that I've got the best collection of resources on the server, poof, no more resource caps. Probably with the next spawn of each metal, my whole collection will become worthless. So, OK, I can go back to surveying...except with the CU's level-based combat stuf, and Pub 24 making combat even tougher, how in the world is my surveyor gonna leave town? At CL 14 (currently), everything in the galaxy is gonna aggro him and one-hit him. Pre-CU, you could have, e.g.,a Pikeman/AS who could survive PvE, surveyand get his resources. Post-CU, that's at best a CL 54 toon that everything aggros and kills. And, if you haven't already, check out the Core Systems thread on increasing death penalties.
No, I'm afraid crafting and entertaining are being phased out. I just wish the devs would just DO it, instead of dragging it out so painfully long. It's like watching a loved one die of cancer. That's no fun, trust me.

A bit dramatic, but I think you're right. And yes, it is very sad and unfortunate. I will miss it once it's completely gone. Hell, I already miss the way it used to be.

I could have played weaponsmith for years and never become bored. now...blech. easily 3-billion creds of resources, enhancers left-and right, and i am stuck making the same fistful of weapon over and over with no hope of making better, or at least making something interesting for select purposes. go go SOE, for the lose
