for me its simple:

the weapons are Better now, Better is Better, no?

More power to you for doing it on your own, but that doesn't make it easy. You either have to camp a place like the Borgle Bat Cave, which I refuse to do because the AFK loot crowd makes my stomach churn....wish I had some....quality time with them.

The other option is to come up with millions upon millions of credits to pay for them, and as LLJK pointed out, that's a huge aneurism waiting to happen.

Again, if you do it on your own, great, congratulations, but I just don't agree with it as a game mechanic, that's all.

Tell you the truth, if the made it so that range, HAM, and durability use different resource attributes(more akin to Armorsmithing, though I don't know much about AS), than it would diversify the market a whole lot more than this every will.

The people equating their +2 points with Neocon-like "Rugged Individualism" are almost scary...

From the above stat comparison, you can see that we're not talking about unsellable weapons with this patch.

You guys dida good businesswith 10 points, prior to this patch, right? It will still be the same today and forward, whether these experimentationchanges staysin or not.

It's not like the weapons that you can make with 10 points are sub-par. Those with 12 points can simply make better, which they deserve after spending 50 million credits on skill tapes.

What's wrong with that?

The spending of 50 million credits on skill tapes...

I think many people (on this forum at least), would be in favor of the changes if the skill tapes were more available. I think the Devs intended them to be "neat little add- ins" that added a little bit of flavor to loot in the beginning when they were still dropping on lower level MOBs. They have turned into the ONLY way to advance one' s character beyond using the skillpoints.

Doesn' t anyone else find it insulting to do all the work to gather resources, make a bunch of weapons, sell them like crazy, just to turn around and hand the credits to an AFK macro looter? Come on.

Agreed...they should negate this the same way they did the holo's by making all masters +12 or making skill tapes fall like rain from meatlump loots. Once everyone is at parity again...we can get back to fair competition. The one good thing about this whole sad episode is that some core problems are being exposed...this is one among many.

Rather selfish statement on your part. The changes affected every crafting profession. Perhaps you should go check out the Bio-Engineer and Droid Engineer forums and see how much fun they had today.

Nice uhh, rant about your own ego there. Who the hell is Raph Koster? Never heard of him, must be some nobody like yourself.

LOL, there I said what every skilled smith is thinking today.

I have yet to make a weapons today that isnt better than what I made yesterday. Finally a way to distinguish the skilled veteren WS's from the masses of macroing holo-smiths.

As Raph Koster once said, "The players don't know what they want." He is proven right yet again.

Architects like it because all their products are single-line and the broken cap or whatever is letting them make BER14 harvesters. Weaponsmiths are split (most seem to be opposed) and chef/BE/DE/armorsmith are more heavily opposed because they got nerfed big time.

LOL! That's really funny. ^^ clueless newbie.

Raph Koster was the former Creative Director for SWG - that is to say, pretty much the leader of the entire project. Until he got promoted and now he's somewhere in SOE far away from SWG.

We knew him as Holocron on the boards. And yes, that's there the in-game "Holocron" comes from and where Holocrons come from in-game.

Yep, he's some nobody alright.

Actually, the term holocron comes from the movies as it is the repository of jedi knowledge, not some designers name, clueless newbie.

Hi There,

I would just like to say that I'm a less than two week old WS. How can I make any profit at all selling weapons without the extra +2 points? I spent almost 2 million buying the resources I knew my weapons wouldn't be as good as some of the long time smiths who has crafted for quite a while, but I was hoping that my interesting shop and loyal customers would help me stay in business long enough to get 60 million to buy skill tapes.

If the change stays in though there is no way that I can even compare with 12 point smiths. I would have to drop out immediately because I know that I wouldn't make any money off my +10 weapons in an economy where almost everyone has at least 1 million, and where newbies only stay newbie for about a week. The schematics made from this change will keep me out of the race for a long time, lets not make it a lasting permanent change.

the devs are idiots. whether the changes were good for who or wut when doesnt really matter to me at this point.

Y in the hell did they change it for one day? 1 day?

that made no sense.

Now we will have to listen to peeps complain about their 1day patch weapons being nerfed!

Sorry mate, you're not any better than any of us. You just have some loot. If you're one of those people who try to base your personal worth off something that derived off loot only, you're pretty sad. Take away your tapes and suddenly you're in the same boat. So basically you are worth the sum of your tapes and no more. Wow man, real good stuff.

Yes this is hostile, but your assertion that no one is as 'good as you' is downright pathetic. Your tapes are worth more than you, is th e bottom line, neh?

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Well looky here another socialist resorting topersonal attacks on those that have achieved something they have not.

So by your logic a new MWS could say YOUare not a better MWS than he/she u just have better resources than they do.

And someone working up the WS trees could tell the new MWS that he/she is no better because they have actually made it to master.

You want to craft withthe same resultsfor your efforts as someone who has madeefforts above and beyond yours? That is selfish, and unfair to weapon buyers. Why should the bar be lowered to the middle when we have worked hard toraise it?

The tapes exist for every class look at combat classes. Their resources are weapons, ours are mined inorganics. If someone has better weapons, and skill attachments we all know that the odds are in their favor. Why should it be any diferrent for crafters.

As for all this hooey about the economy being broken and this making it worse that is just foolish. I have watched the price of weapons drop like a rock over the last several months. My first flame thrower cost me 30k to buy. The ones I sell are way better than back then, and I sell them for 10k. The inflation is not in weapon prices, it is in loot. The reason for that is because too few people actually search for the stuff any more, yet everyone still wants better weapons. This crafting fix gives them better weapons but at regular prices. No one can meet the demand of an entire server, so you can throw out the monopoly scare rhetoric as well.

I spent the credits to get the best materials out there from b4 I was a MWS,constantly harvest like crazyanything that is even slightly better than what I have, andacquired my 12 exp pts. Now I am sorry to tell u this but yes I am a better MWS than you are. The reason is because I looked for every possible way to make a better weapon and then acted on it while you apparently chose not to. It is called progress! If people like you were in charge we would all still be living in the stone age.

I bet u were one of those guys that complained about not being able to get holocrons. Then u complained that the jedi unlocking system was unfair. Now u are complaing that the bar should be lowered for u once again. Well I for one am tired of SOE dummying up this game to please the lazy cry baby players like you. Buy a playstation Mate, it is probably more your speed.

ok, bottom line, folk are here in the game for fun...not real life LOL....lets look at this, ok I am not a long time master wep smith, I got a 2nd acount and just mastered wep smith a couple weeks ago, my weps in the old system were not as good as some one with +2 exp, this is known. but I blew several millon (made with my smuggler) to get resources, I am still short ostrine carb ore and class 3 solid petro, but my stuff per patch was ok, and would sell slowly and I was good with that...no post patch, well it generally is BAD for me, the difference in range will make it near impossible to sell weps. I get 5% on a great success now instead of the 7% I got pre patch, this is because of resources like Plumbum iron and axidite iron...and other caped resources, now with 10 pts I can't even get max dmg and speed much less any adds to ham, and yes HAM matters much, I get lots of requests for low ham VK's for instance. what this means is a greater drift in weps, raised prices and such....all you 12 pointers out there rushing schems....don't blame you LOL, but I surely will hate you a bit hehe, ya can't blame me, I have been searching for tapes, but don't have that much cash, maybe 10mil or so.....I keep hopin to get a good wep exp tape drop!! now with all that said, do you think the majority have +20 tapes? or do the majority not have them? well that answer is obvious, so now from SOE's point of view...you want to please the majority of customers, or the small minority of power gamers? you 12 pointers still have the advantage, we just don't need it to be any larger then it allready was, the exp change didn't fix or correct ANYTHING!!! it just gave you elite guys a day to make schems and keep the economy screwed....no whines here, just stated fact, If I ever stop having fun and smithing becomes more hassel then fun, I just drop the acct and stop paying....I won't hold any grudge or scream and holler, or threaten to drop the acct, if it ain't fun I just will....so its in SOE's best interests to make the game fun....they win some and they loose some....that is my take on this whole thing.
