Thread: Proof that the players DO NOT know what they want

I'll repeat it again, the formula for being the best weaponsmith possible is: gather the top of the line resources that your server has ever seen, and get 12 experimentation points. Its that simple. What is it exactly that is stopping people (slim?) from doing this. It takes time, and work to build up enough money to buy the tapes, and people don't want to put the time in. They just want everything handed to them.

And for all the people that say " im not willing to pay blah blah blah for that tape!!"......you said it yourself, you're not willing to do what others ARE willing to do. And how exactly can you rationalize being givin equal billing with them??

If you're new, and haven't built up the bank roll yet to buy the tapes?? well, put the time in like I did. The tapes didn't just drop in my pack either, i worked for em.

Thats the way the game is set up, deal with it, or cry more.

But for all the nay sayers asking the question, "why should I be punished for not having 12 points?" answer my question please.

"Why should my weapons, made with better resources and 12 points, be the same as yours?"

You guys dida good businesswith 10 points, prior to this patch, right? It will still be the same today and forward, whether these experimentationchanges staysin or not.

... because 12 points did not give significantly better damage/speed before.

10-point crafters in the new system would be lowered to selling on bazaar, where tech4 crafters were in the old system.

Also the new system renders advanced barrel/scope completely useless, and tests on ABPH show that experimentation is very inconsistent and probably contains many exploitable bugs.

This system ispoorly thought out andpoorly tested. They need to revert and fix it into an acceptable state before trying to push it to live again.

It sounds to me like most of the criers here want some form of SWG welfare. Well congartulations, you will still get your paycheck each week by selling weapons but now everyoneknows it is simply because of the Devs charity to the weak and lazy, and not because you were as good as me.

*laugh* Well holy heck, what a case study of arrogance.

Sorry mate, you're not any better than any of us. You just have some loot. If you're one of those people who try to base your personal worth off something that derived off loot only, you're pretty sad. Take away your tapes and suddenly you're in the same boat. So basically you are worth the sum of your tapes and no more. Wow man, real good stuff.

Have a good read - plenty of 12 pointer smiths are against the change. And not because of laziness, or because they are charity cases, but because it's pushing for a direction we never wanted. Loot camping. Capiche?

Yes this is hostile, but your assertion that no one is as 'good as you' is downright pathetic. Your tapes are worth more than you, is th e bottom line, neh?

So you expect to be able to craft near-identical quality weapons to those who have spent millions on skill tapes to make themselves better crafters? Come on.

Agreed on that. The 2 extra damage isn't really worth the loss of 14 range (13-13, 4 range on new, 11-11, 18 range on old). I haven't checked out the regular barrels yet, but I'd expect them to be close to the same.

And yes, ABPH experimentation is very inconsistent, along the lines of the adv. stock. Experimentation on the adv. sword core is the same way currently.

There are definitely bugs that need to be worked out of the system, but I believe it's a step in the right direction.

I've had 12 points for several months.

Giving such large increases in the only two stats that customers care about forces everyone to get 12 points or get off the market. The only way to get 12 points is by AFK macroing lootboxes for weeks, or paying tens of millions to people who AFK macro lootboxes.

LOOT ECONOMY IS CRAP. I quit EQ because camping for required items was a retarded waste of time, and I don't want to see SWG turn into another gay EQ lootfest in space.

Removing lootboxes would make the problem even worse, because those things are the source of most of the decent SEAs. No lootboxeswould meanthe only place to get SEAs is from combat classes who farm nightsisters all day, and the prices would be at least twice what they are now.

so you're saying that loot camping ruins games, but you don't want them to take out the bat cave because it will make things worse.

who can argue with that logic

Old system = camp the stupid cave if you want, but you don't need anything from it

No cave + old system = good. AFK macro looters are scum.

New system= cave camping required for anyone who wants to make non-crap products

No cave + new system = nightsister camping required

Here are my 2 cents...

From the stat provided by Vertext (thanks), I would have to agree that the patch is a good thing. In pre-patch environment, everyone who hit master ws, pretty much could pump out the same or similar stat weapons, thus making it a very dull competivit environment.

With the patch, that takes it to the next level by having WS be more active on being better through networking to get tapes, etc. Ofcourse at the get go, you will see veterans will be the one with the benefits because they've been around long enough to accummalate up the money, connections, etc to earn the extra skill tapes, while the new WS will have to work for them.

Just like in the real world environment where the more you work in a profession, the more "experience" you have. Some people pick up experience quicker and better than other. Thus in this environment that translate to how quickly and effciently you are able to obtain skill tapes to give you that extra edge.

So, IMO, i like the new patch.

To clear one thing up, I do not have 12 experimentation points, so no need to go there.

The point is(correct me if I'm wrong), that taking them out will simply make the tapes even rarer to get than before, and thus, more expensive. There would still be ways to get the tapes, just not as easily, so the price on the tapes goes up and the situation gets worse.

I started in beta, and subsequently at release as a WS, and took a lot of pride in the effort I put into resource gathering(used to travel to Endor once a day when money was scarce to get some iron I needed...doing survey missions from Tyrena 'cause I didn't have much combat ability). In the end I had some very nice weapons, and at Tech IV I started poking around some of the Master WS vendors that had started to poke up and a lot of my things were better anyway. At any rate, I cancelled my account in September(back when this stuff was still moderately hard to do), 'cause college started kicking my arse, I was 4/4/2/4 WS....came back 5 months later and finished it off.

Now if I wanted to have a shot, first I have to throw tons of credits into the toilet harvesting resources and grinding Heavy Warhead Mechanisms(when I could), and blaster rifle barrels. Now, when you finally get to Master, you stop and think, "Great! Now all the effort I put into resources will pay off, because I have the experimentation points everyone else does." Oh...well...they have 12 now...I might as well be back at Tech IV. I'm not saying they shouldn't have an advantage, but doing it through loot is a garbage system.

I started to lose interest in WS soon after I came back and mastered it. Found out about the new Theme Park schematics. I liked the idea, then I found out about all the loot components and loot schematics that no one like myself has any hope of getting...a good WS should be better than a bad one for just that reason, but good and bad should nothave a "hardcore or not" criterion.

It's a matter of, "who's hardcore enough to get those tapes?" Frankly, I don't think loot should factor into Weaponsmithing at all. Agree with me or not, I just feel that way. I could still take all the pride I want in getting the absolute best resources by myself, but it doesn't mean diddly squat, because some guy in a monster PA has 75 people camping caves and Nightsisters.

Took a longwinded approach to it with a small trip down memory lane , but that's why I abhor the loot crap determining the economy and quality of crafted goods. This crafting change better in general? Absolutely! Better in combination with skill tapes? Not bloody likely...just my opinion on the matter, try not to take it personally...sure someone will.

/salute

Have you ever tried to buy SEAs? It is a GIGANTIC PAIN IN THE ASS.

They are very rare. A quick search of the Lowcatrade forumshows only a few a week (not counting the Jabba themepark bandolier), and most of them are +1-2 crap that you can't get a +20 set from.

Most of them come from lootboxes, which means most of the sellers are dickheads who AFK macroed themand won't hesitate to sell your SEA to someone else AFTER YOU WON THE AUCTION because they offered more.

The prices are already obscene and would get worse if they were required to make non-crap products. No one will buy crap products, so crafters with no SEAs would have no way of getting the tens of millions required to buy SEAs so they can make marketable products.

The entry barrier is bad enough already, it doesn't need any more time or money sinks added.
