It is disappointing that this has been allowed to go on for so long now without action on the part of SOE.

It is possible that a fix is more complicated to implement than it would appear to be and that would be a legitimate reason for SOE to be taking its time. However regardless of the reasons it is taking so long, the very fact that SOE has done nothing to stop this exploiting is causing this to become a much larger problem than it ever needed to become. At the very least SOE needs to explicitly state that this is indeed an exploit as they have not ever officially indicated it is, and if we can believe the statements of one of the smiths heavily using this exploit they have even said that it is legal to use.

This bug is being heavily exploited by a few smiths on a couple of different servers and as a result there are now thousands of such weapons in these worlds now. Players who are aware of the situation and know that this problem will be fixed eventually are stocking up on these weapons. I had one player tell me he bought 20 exploited FWGs and another player recently posted on the Bria boards that he has 10 stockpiled. The point is that this type of player has stockpiled enough exploited weapons to give them what basically amounts to a permenant advantage in the game. Had SOE acted sooner to stop this exploit they could have just ignored the existing exploited weapons and let them die their natural deaths. Since there are so many in circulation now they are going to be an unbalancing force on certain servers for a very long time. IMHO the delay in fixing this bug has already created a situation where not only the exploit itself needs to be fixed but the weapons created using this exploit also need to be deleted from the database.

Unfortunately, I very much doubt that SOE will go to the trouble of purging the databases and at least at this point will say, "well its not really that big of a problem, after all only a few servers are affected and most players didn't stock up." This will insure that those that did are well rewarded by exploiting.

Regardless of how difficult a fix is to implement SOE must officially declare that this is indeed an exploit and warn those known to be the users of this exploit to stop at the risk of expulsion from the game. I have read second hand that these smiths are saying that they do not believe that this is an exploit. While I think most of their arguments (as I have heard them second hand) are totally lame, the one that does hold water is that SOE has never told them or said anywhere that it is indeed an exploit. Furthermore, one of the smiths involved even asked a CSR if what he was doing was illegal. He maintains that he was given a clean bill of health from the CSR. We all know that the CSRs most likely lack the training to fully understand the nature of this problem so that isn't surprising, but until someone at SOE who does understand officially tells these smiths to stop using the exploit they do have this one legitimate reason to continue doing so and the ever increasing numbers of these weapons that are being introduced just makes the problem get larger and larger.

Although in general I am against the idea of posting exploits I am beginning to swing around to the conclusion that it might need to be done in this case to prompt some action on the part of SOE. If this is the case a PM should be sent to Taurin (hope I spelled his name right) indicating that this drastic action is likely to be undertaken if there isn't some official word at the least even if a patch isn't ready to fix it. Perhaps our fine new correspondent could deliver this message most effectively. Hopefully, this situation will be addressed by SOE before such drastic action need be undertaken.

No doubt if they wont even make a statement it should be made public as a tip to better weapons. That way at least the honest smiths could offer similar products and not be cheated out of the market.

They have been "looking into" this for a week, a statement one way or another shouldn`t be too much to ask.

Thanks to this bug I was able to make a scatter pistol with krayte-tissuestats today. 2.0 speed, 160 max dmg (No advanced blaster handlers on my server).. It would have been very easy for me to mass produce these and totally bypass the other masters who were working with krayte tissue.

This needs to be a top priority in the weaponsmith corrospondant issues.

Looks like all the 'in the know' people will get to use this exploit since the devs have not been responsive. And we all know , once it goes public, it doesnt last.

So perhaps, the "i dont want to post it to ruin the economy" is just a selfishness, who knows. but many of them in one hand hold the "we need to get rid of this" opinion , and then they go on about how we need justice and we need this stopped, and if they dont hear from a dev they will post it.

Well its been too long now and the trickle down effect is just making a select few aware of it and they are benefitting. Post it here, let us go make this a bigger issue then you few are seemingly wanting it to be. See the credit exploit? well that was out for a month or more before it went public. BAM 2 days later its addressed.

So cmon, you had your chance to do the right thing, and you pretty much did. but now its time to get it over with. Post it, and watch the patch notes in the next day or two. Then we can all stop secretly posting how it isnt , kinda sorta, being done, and watch the thing get fixed.

Goes from a backburner problem to a immediate problem.

or dont, and enjoy the little secret you know and the few you told who do it for fun, and teh couple they told that do it for fun, and the....

Actually it is pretty easy to find if you look around. It is kind of funny that the majority of cheat sites are pushing this as an exploit. I do agree with you though it is time for this to be made public, but I don`t want to risk my account so I will just say a simple web search will reveal the details.

2 Players on Bria have done it, and well over the 1000 powerhandlers, and their schematics "magically" dissappeared after asking to see it, so they've done it at least twice, so far they are still playing andproducing krayt "like" weapons, after waiting a few weeks to see what devs have decided. No response so far, and I'm assuming there won't be one till they "fix" the bug, or they decide that it is part of the "in-game" feature.

*Bump* Yes, it's very sad to be reading about this stuff....and you all say weeks? this has been going on.

If that is true it could possibly be how some of the "great" smiths of Chilastra are pulling off some of their amazing guns...I would hate to think this is true, as some of these smiths ( I won't defile their names, just in case they are legit ) have good reps...and seemingly large customer bases. In any case, I'd prefer to not have ANY BUGS....because that annoys the hell out of me. It's taking far to long to be "successful" and legit at the same time.

I have no idea what's going on. Still waiting, and as far as I'm concern, until the Dev respond to this here or somewhere else, this staying on front page.

Yea we are getting the same response as if we were talking about pie, as in the other thread, what a shame these 2, or3, or 4, or 5, or 6 or.....

wont post how its done so we can end it. Message it to me via forum message if you want this fixed (truly), or just keep saying you do and say you arent using it in the same breath. Ill figure it out one way or another, and you can bet im not going to let it stagnate with me like the greater % of you that know it have. These guns are popping up a tad morenow, so be proud.

Kudos

Yup I am pushing to get a response and it is going into the #1 priority list..... I know some of these have already been validated as on Taurins plate and he is well aware of them and working to get them squashed...if you have ANY addition details on how to recreate this and want to help the community out...send me AND taurin a PM with the exact steps on how to duplicate this so we can get this issue closed out ASAP...

Thanks
