I aplogize for the 100,000 remark. As I said, see my post at the end of page 2,though not this explicilty, it was meant as an exageration, what it "felt like to me" not what the exact number of actual weapons built was. To be clear, I did not say that it was "what if felt like to me" in the guide, which I should have, and if I had an edit option I would edit the guide to reflect the exact number of traditional method units and clicks that are required.

This number, as posted by Irelphir, is 9,531.91 or 9,532 rounded, Projectile Rifle Barrels.

I am sorry for the confusion.

That said, using the guide and with a Master handy to train you it is a matter of hours to make Master once you have the resources.

From Irelphir's post I take it that Projectile Rifle Barrels yield 93 or 94 XP per barrel and require 2 clicks to create. The Heavy Warhead yields 735 XP and require 7 clicks to create. From the time you get to Heavy Warheads to the end of Master it takes 7,735 clicks, for the 812,000 XP needed, the barrels require 17,276 or 9,541 more clicks.

However, in terms of speed, you are missing the number of screen loads, which I didn't bother to detail in the guide. From the point you begin making Heavy Warheads, you will load the crafting tool 1,105 times, making Barrels and from that same number of XP left to go, 812,000, you will load the crafting tool 8,732 times, or 7,627 more times then the Warheads require. Given the in game lag, number of times you go link dead, and the processing time of the Macro itself, this yeilds a significant speed increase.

So, in summary, the Barrels require 7,627 more crafting tool loads, and 9,541 more clicks. I leave it to the reader to decide which is easier for them.

For me, and I did say this directly in the guide, grinding makes me sick. I meant that literally, I get a sick headache from the flashing of the crafting screen. This doesn't happen on the 1st flash, but at some point, if I grind to long, it will happen. Add to that the finger stress of the additional 9,541 clicks, and Heavy Warheads became VERY appealing to me!

This is a known issue for me, I use a21" NEC FP1375X monitor, running in game at 170Mhz, to avoid flicker, this monitor does not flicker, ever. This matters to me because ever since I turned 45 flicker has given me trouble. Before age 45 I didn't notice flicker, and I started out on the old "green screens" back in the late 70's which did nothing but flicker.

I like flicker , but anyone know how to configure a 2 button (with wheel) optical mouse from Microsoft to do that fancy one clicky thingy ?

VaMage, my man, you are a golden god.

EngiIV-MWS in a morning.

That's good=) I think I mainly like that it's possible because my first master was architect, and we lost a lot of dignity when people started mastering our profession in an hour. This kinda levels the playing field.

Ohh, sorry all ya'll weaponsmiths that took weeks to hit master. If it'll make ya feel better, you can come master Architect. Granted, having a slew of items that sell for 4c/u will be useless to you, but hey.

VaMage,

Thank you so much for taking the time to figure this littlestrategy out. Determining which item yields the most xp per click is no easy task and it is truly amazing. I am halfway to master WS in what seems like 45 minutes with your strat. I was getting a new WS skill (level 1-4, no matter) every 10 mins or less. I had to stop because I could only find 30k skevon gas andI have now run out.

This was several days ago. The reason i make this post is because when the skevon gas ran out, I decided, no big deal, I will do projectile rifle barrels ............

What a mistake that was. It is grueling, and perhaps I am just spoiled by watching the xp bar move superfast doing hvy warheads, but I cant bear to do another projectile rifle barrel. I will now wait til Skevon gas shows back up on Bloodfin and finish MWS in an hour or two, rather than spend 4-5 hours doing projectile rifle barrels. Gettingtens of thousands of xp per WS skill at 735 xp per item is manageable, but at the rate of 94 xp per item its torture.

Many thanks VaMage, now if only you had stockpiles of skevon on bloodfin

Anyone else aware of any other high comlexity items that yield good xp for one not concerned about resources (as long as they are available!)?

The only problem is with the medium warheads.. I get through the 8 craft tools then there's still 9 seconds on the first one left.. How long is the Heavy Warhead wait?

well, i got to the medium warhead part, i didnt know you needed to get your own craftin statoin, so i got one, finally saw the schematics appear with my weapon tool, i bought all the resources as stated, and none of them work for that schematic! Is it some special kind, because 'any metal' isnt true... The polymer, the gas, nothing will load up... what am i doing wrong? can someone tell me EXACTLY what resources are thuse needed because i dont not want to waste another 100K on resources... specially when i have to then find skevon and all that rare crap...

just look at the requirements in your datapad or when they appear in crafting tool, it will tell you exactly what is required.

well unfortunately on my Shadowfire server, Hydron 3 is not available, and getting reactive gas is a hassle, and it comes in little quantities... I thought grinding through weaponsmith would be fast, but its very slow for me... too bad... guess ill just make metal staffs... at least the copper and steel is abundant...

I just wanted to give a testamonial here. I had some extra money to throw at this and if you do too, this is the way to go.

The biggest pain was finding the resources to do this. The Thoranium steel, hydron-3 Gas, and the Skevon gas were the biggest pains. Took me a couple days to find these.

Here is a hint if you can't find someone who stockpiles this stuff. Look on the bazaar, and make sure you are looking at the entire galaxy. It's easier to find what you are looking for this way. You'll have to travell a bit to get the items, but you can purchase stuff on Tatooine from using a bazaar terminal on Coronet.

After you got all the resources, it only took me 5-6 days (macro grinding 3-5 hours per day) to hit master weaponsmith.

I've recently started using this method to grind out weapon crafting experience, and I just wanted to share a couple of pointers here.

First of all, if you're having trouble finding a resource you need, you should go check out SWGCraft.com! Look up the resources for your server, on all planets, and if something you need is there, then go mine some or see if someone is selling some.

Secondly, if you're like me and have other things to do while you hunt/wait for resources, this method of grinding is 100 times better than those **edit** Projectile Rifle Barrels. While I'm waiting for resources to rotate, or waiting for harvesters to extract them, I can be doing plenty of other things. Once I got the resources together, I figured out how much experience I needed to get, and then figured out how many heavy warheads I would need to build, and made stacks of each resource to the exact number that I needed, so I can plainly see how close I'm getting to my goal.

As far as time goes, my macros have a 2 second pause while the kit opens, and a 2 second pause while the kit closes, so that's at least 4 seconds each time a kit opens and closes. With rifle barrels taking about 5 seconds to build, you could probably rotate two kits on them constantly, with 2 seconds to open / 2 seconds to click resources / 2 seconds to close. With the heavy warheads, you have to wait 80 seconds for the build. I have 8 crafting kits set up for this grind, and my macro will pause 2 seconds for kit to open, pause 10 seconds for me to click stuff, pause 2 seconds to close kit, and repeat for all 8 kits. I tried lowering it to 8 and 9 seconds to speed it up, but that was actually too fast for just 8 kits. It would get back to the first kit before it was finished building, so instead of adding more kits, I just decided to slow it down and pace myself. I figure that if I have to wait 2+10+2 for each kit, and get 735ish experience per warhead, that's much more efficient than waiting 2+2+2 and getting 94ish experience for each rifle barrel and clicking like mad.

This method is working incredibly well for me, because it let's me keep my sanity. I've already grinded plenty of rifle barrels, and that grind is simply excrutiating!

For reference, when I got my resources together and started grinding, I had |0|1|2|2| in weaponsmith already. After just a couple of hours of pacing myself, I now have |2|4|2|4| weaponsmith, and I'll be moving right along the next time I log in!

Oh, I forgot about something else that's fairly important.

I was grinding in Mos Eisley, inside the university guild hall, right next to the weaponsmith trainer there. Since the experiencegoes up so quickly with this method, you really need to have either a player weaponsmith nearby to train you, or plenty of money saved up to pay the NPC trainer.

Thanks for the tip. I grinded master armorsmith using mabari chestplates and I am all for the grinding of large items for chunks of exp. Since my char is going to be a pure crafter I have been saving up my grindable resources and just waiting for hydron 3 to pop on my server.
