Thread: Questions you NEVER ask a weaponsmith...
![]()
Excellent... I needed this thread...
Of course don't forget this typical encounter:
Customer: Hey
Me: (Why do they always start with "Hey"?) Yes, may I be of assistance?
Customer: Hey, I usually buy from [weaponsmith] but he's not online, and neither is [weaponsmith] or [weaponsmith], so I guess I'll have to deal with you. I need your best [weapon], not the crap you have on your vendors - I need something good. And can I get a discount?

The number one question that pisses me off is what follows. BTW on my server adv blaster barrels suck, not enough extra damage on some applications to use them instead of regular barrels, so the difference between speed and damage on guns cant be made very apparent. Anyways here is the question that haunts me:
[Sammy2yrold] hey, can you experiment that gun for all damage and no speed, cause speed doesnt matter to me
[Myslef] well actually damage and speed are in the same exp. category so the are both maxed out on all my guns.
[Sammy2yrold] but i saw a laser rifle that was 35 more damage than your, but was like .4 speed slower, that means you must be lying to me or somethin, i dont believe you.
[Myself] umm, k im lying to you, no that iscalled a stock, i can do that if you want.
[Sammy2yrold] no, no, no, i want a damned gun thats damage experimented not speed
[Myself] ok, bye never ask me for a gun again please as you dont understand the game you are playing.
I get this one every other personal customer i take, it is starting to really really piss me off, i have been master weaponsmith for nearly 2 months, have resrouces from the first 4 weeks that no one else has. So basically im makin a nice gun, yet cause some little kid, or some older person withou the intelect to read up on what people can actually do with weapons, they think that i am jipping them, and not in fact telling them the truth. I mean common that is almost as bad as people who cry nerf cause a master of a proffession owned there novice marksman ass, haha.
Anyways just blowin off some steam, this question drives me crazy after the 1 millionth time i see it, ANYONE ELSE EVER GET THIS QUESITON, WOULD BE COOL TO KNOW, thanks guys

"Heya, can you send me a list of every weapon you make along with stats and prices?"
I think this either comes from new WS, or from players who have recently lost thier regular smith. It takes me a minute or two to clam down and even then I can only bring myself to type "No"
The second one is "Hi, can you tell me what resources go into a (weapon). I want to make the best one ever so will collect really good stuff."
These customers don't actaully upset me, I know they are atleast willing to be helpful. I'm just always at a loss of what to tell them. Do I dare begin the long seminar covering the details of resource mechanics and the history of spawns on our server?

Hehe, I just had another one happen to me in game... I love these:
[Player] Hey...
[Me] (of course...) Hi, may I be of assistance?
[Player] Yeah, can you sell me a schematic for each weapon you make?

If someone asked me that, I'd gladly sell them a schematic, but I wouldn't give them any of the required component schematics.
The second worst is: "I WANT YOU TO MAKE ME THE BEST KRAYT xx WEAPON". You all know what the reaction is when you tell them about the current market price of tissues :-).
Not to mention: "I have just become master weaponsmith. I want to buy your best XXX resource". Sure, I can sell that legendary resource I paid 50 cpu to you for 3 cpu.
Wow.....and I thought I got stupid tells as an MDE......weaponsmiths are certainly among the most hounded (/tell helled) and disrespected of the crafting class. If you're not a weaponsmith, or a novice weaponsmith and reading this, I hope you takethis threadto heart. It's a pretty lighthearted, funny thread, but these people are also speaking from a very 'enough is enough' standpoint. A good friend of mine on Naritus scared me even more awhile back by telling me that MWSs have to aqcuire 20-30 different resources in the game to make every weapon on the menu, more than any other crafting profession class she's tried (except Architect).
My mind was blown, to say the least.
Maybe when I get closer to Master, I'll just ride at 4-4-4-4. *additional mental note to NEVER wear title when earned*

I hate this.
I am damn near the point of putting anyone who sends me a tell with just "hey" on my ignore list. I don't have the time, the patience, or the inclination to cajole you into asking your question. Just ask it and get it over with. Faster for both of us.
God how I wish more people realized this.
**During the load screen**
**Instantmessage noise going off 2 or 3 times**
**I finally get into the game and I see three messages saying**
"Hi, can you make me a gun?"
"hello... are you there?"
"HELLO... well I guess you dont want my business"
Them:"Hey, can you make me a good gun, money is no object"
Me: "Well the only way to make my weapons better than what they are now is with a special sub component like Krayt Tissue or Spider Fangs"
Them: "What ever it takes, as I sai money is no object"
Me: "What kind of gun do you want?"
Them: "The Best"
Me: "Yeah I know you want the best, and for future reference I use the best materials to make all my weapons, if I dont have a gun in stock its one of two things, I ran out of the best material or I am making mor ein a factory now"
Them: "good then I'm sure oyu can make me a kick a$$ gun then"
Me: Are you rifleman, pistoleer or Carboneer?"
Them: "Which has the best damage?"
Me: "Are you any profession or are you not even started yet?"
Them: "I'm hologrinding marksman now, I'm on my slient holo and I need the best gun to raise marksman"
Me: So you need one of each type?
Them: No jsut the best one to make it go faster.
Me: Well you need a Rifle, Carbine and Pistol to raise Marksman, you cannot do it with just one of each type
Them: oh....um, I will take a krayt Laser Carbine, Laser Rifle and Krayt FWG5
Me: Ok the only tissue I have costed me 2.5 million for a set of 7 in an auction. It is very good tissue, It will add 80 points of damage to my standard Laser Rifle and Laser Carbine, plus I have form fitted stocks which are nice for rifles but even better for carbines since speed is important for those guns. I will make you the Laser Rifle and Carbine for 2.55 million.
Them: 2.5MILLION!!!!!!!! Dude who are you trying to Rip off here!!!!!!!
Me: I'm not the one selling the tissue, talk to the Krayt Tissue dealers about their prices, it is a nice set of tissue, -.5speed +83max damage
Them: Can you sell them to me for 1.5million?
Me: No, the tissue costed me 2.5million if I sold you you for 1.5million I will be at a 1 million credit loss, I can't do it. The best I can do is 2.525 million.
Them: Whats the WP to your vendor, I will jsut buy normal ones.
I don't think many people are as tolerant as I am when it comes to the situation like above, but its all about keeping a level head, because sometimes people have no clue how enhanced weapons are priced. Every so often I get a bag of 50 tissues for 25k per tissue no matter the quality, but thats once every two months. Normally sets of 1-3, so can't make to many multiple PH weapons using them.
But my personal favorite:
Them: Can you make a Stungun for my R2 Droid?
Me: ????
Them: You know like the one in Star Wars
Me: I know what your talking about, but I doubt thats anything thats in the game
Them: I thought this was Star Wars
Me: I dont know I am 100% positive such a thing doesn't exist, but I'm not a DE, so contact (listed 2 DE's names)
**now it was cruel of me to send him to a DE, but I thought they might get a kick out of his request, and maybe they posted a similar thread on the DE forum**

10 minutes after you restocked your vendor and you know everything is on it
Customer: Hey your out of so and so
me: No im not i just restocked it.
Cus: well i dont c it
me: please hit next itemsor sort the list using the options onthe side of the vendor.
cus; no you dont have any.
me: did you hit next items?
cus: oh didnt c that button. ohh there they are.
Ooh! Horror Story #215.
My second week in my new location, I restock my VKs cause i was running low and then go to my lab and start crafting and I get a tell:
'Hi can you make me a VK?'
'Well, there are about 75 on my vendor at the moment.'
'No, you're out.'
'Are you looking in the right sub-category? VKs are in the 'Melee Weapons' sub-category and not the '1-handed Melee' category.'
'Yes, I looked in the sub-category, you're out of VKs.'
'Did you try the 'next items' button?'
'YES!'
So I hurry to finish the scehmatic I'm working on.. (and misname it) and rush over to the shop... to find 70 VKs on my vendor. So I find out after walking the customer through buying one that he customer has no idea about sub-categories *or* the next items button. Y'know... I don't mind people that just dn't know. But if you waste my time lying to me rather than actually trying what I suggested you're effectively sending the message that my time is worth less than yours.
I think it should be a huge red button that reads "Do not push"
