Thread: Proof that the players DO NOT know what they want

As a matter of fact I did. I made a good living on the Bazar too with non-master weapons. Yes, they were crap but to the new guy who just got into the game and can't afford the 15k for a new Laser Rifle and can find one on the Bazar for 3-5k. Yes the stats might be lower but he can use his new weapon to do better missions to buy the good weapon. That is where I suggest all new WS go to start their career
I too have made a decent living by selling 10 point weapons on the bazaar and in my shop. But the key word here is "decent". I have never, and will never get rich off of being a 10pt smith. I was saving credits to get some good tapes, but it seems to little too late. Tape prices will now get inflated beyond belief.
Also, there are smiths way ahead of me making schematics off of this change Now by the time I get enough credits saved up to buy the extra two points from experimentation tapes and start making weaponsit will be too late. I will have been forced out of the market. I am sure I can get players to buy my weapons, I have no worries about that. But the gap between me and the 12pt smiths will get wider and wider. They will make more, and I will have to settle for little to none simply because I didnt get in quick enough to get my tapes 6 months ago.
Looks aa if I will make enough to keep my harvestors running and thats about it. Just like real life, crafting is turning into work.

With this patch the average weaponsmith has been exposed, and they don't like it. If you want to be the best you need the absolute best resources that have spawned on your server, and 12 point experimentation. Stop whining about it, collect theseitems and start crafting, or recognize that you are not willing to do what others have andbecause of this youare average.
Before the patch it was oh so wonderful to know that all my time since the game went live, collecting the very best resources, yielded me 1 or 2 points of damagewhen compared to the new WS. Yippee.
But there are more average weaponsmithsthen there are great ones so the whininghas caused the devs to reverse their original plan. Too Bad.

Because the flux and uncertainty in quality was what allowed you to sell at that early time in the resource tables. Quality was extremely uncertain, varying by dozens and dozens of points between servers. Without that market flux, you would not have had a chance to sell at all. The bazaar is already packed with holo-grind offal, regardless.
10,000 (the price of a basic weapon),while quite a lot, is still only about a day's work for a total newbie. They can get that and get one of the current master weapons, and then start moving on into the other. Why would a newbie spendmost ofday getting 6,000 credits and spend it on your significantly lower quality weapon, when he could work just a little longer and get a high quality weapon that (due to condition) will last him significantly longer?

LOL, there I said what every skilled smith is thinking today.
I have yet to make a weapons today that isnt better than what I made yesterday. Finally a way to distinguish the skilled veteren WS's from the masses of macroing holo-smiths.
As Raph Koster once said, "The players don't know what they want." He is proven right yet again.
bull$h!t.. All my components with the exact sameresources and only 10 EXP points are 15-20% lower in stats then everything made before the patch. The only way to max them out is to get more EXP points.
Yep, so back to the old way we go, where everyone makes the same damn thing. Pretty freakin boring if you ask me. Maybe with my 6 month old resources I can get an extra point of damage on my power handlers, woot

Yes, but it hurts 90% of the WS's who dont have 12 EXP points and rewards the 10% who do because they wont feel a hit at all. The only people who want this change are the ones who will not be effected by it poorly. It's good for them, not the game, and themselves are the onlything they care about.
Exactly ... except I would estimate the number of SEA crafters at 5% or less.

I dont know why I'm replying to someone with 2400 posts ("never get into an argument with someone who buys ink by the barrel") but if your stats are 15-20% lower then your resources sucked plain and simple. Using only 10 points I can get my weapons to within a point or two (higher or lower) of their previous stats. You have sub par resouces yet the system was allowing you to make top quality weapons. Thats why it was broken. This issue is far from over, I have little doubt that it will still be fixed and you will then make another few thousand posts complaining about it.
Well said, and this is exactly why the experimentation changes were put in.

Maybe, but it also shows us who was lazy and who was not.
I started as a ws in January, and am now a 12pt MWS with very nice resources.I did it in 2 months, and am amazed at how many of youguysare crying about not being able to compete and yet many of you have been smiths for 4 x as long as me.
The Devs finally did something realistic by implementing a system that would have weeded out the slackers, and given the player community better products than they have had in the past. But the slackers cried the loudest so the population will suffer through with less effective weapons than they could have had.
I could care less about having a monopoly. As a matter of fact I don't even like to do volume sales, I just prefer to craft the best items possible for the sense of pride and satisfaction it gives me. That's right I gathered my tapes and materialsbecause crafting the bestgave me pride in the results of my efforts.
It sounds to me like most of the criers here want some form of SWG welfare. Well congartulations, you will still get your paycheck each week by selling weapons but now everyoneknows it is simply because of the Devs charity to the weak and lazy, and not because you were as good as me.
