Thread: MACRO: EASE THE GRIND
Actually, if there is a way to use the in game macros to fill in the ingredients then you should be able to completely automate the process with "looping" macros (technically I guess theydon't really loop but it has the same effect).
Of course this isn't really an issue until such time as someone figures out (and posts) how to fill those resource slots if it is even possible.
>>>Third party macro programs that add the resources for you and are fully automated are CHEATING!
These macro commands are in the game. There's no third-party software here.

For some reason, neither one worked for me. I also tried "/nextCraftingStage" since that is what you see in the help list. It didn't work when I typed it in manually either. The other parts worked fine. I created two macros called Craft1 and Craft2 to make couplers. they looked like this:
/ui action toolbarSlot00; /* toolbarSlot01 for Craft2 */
/pause 1;
/selectDraftSchematic 31;
I put my crafting tools in toolbar slots F1 and F2 and both ran flawlessly. When I tried to addthe /nextCraftingStage, it just did nothing. Same thing when I tried it by manually typing it in. I suspect there may be a bug since it seems to work for some folks but not others. Here's a question to try and narrow it down. I was a Beta 3 tester, so i did not have to reload the game. I just used the same version I used for Beta 3 and entered in the CD key. Is anybody else having the /next problem that was not in the beta? I'm wondering if I need to uninstall and reinstall from the CD.
SnowDog, you can find most of the in-game commands by doing // in the chat bar. It's a list longer than your chat buffer and hold, so you'll have to turn on chat logging to capture it all.
However, I did notice /ui and /pause aren't in this list. I know the devs told us about pause back in beta. How the heck did anyone find /ui action <name> and especially find what the names are. I've been digging through ever "visible" route to get these commands, and can't find how these were discovered short of hacking or being leaked from the devs.
No biggie. If there's a "visible" way, I'll find it.
Additionally, when using a public/private crafting station, due to the extra experimentation ui window, one must use "/next;" Three times rather than Two.
No. Once we figure out how to auto-fill, getting Master weaponsmith will be only a matter of resources.
As for how we figured out /ui scripts: Its really quite simple. Just type in /ui and it shows the uses for the command. UI (User interface) can control nearly every aspect of the game when it comes to menus and what not. Only the ingredients screen illudes us as this time.
And YES! We have tried everything to practice an item. I'm tried so many combinations of words and stuff to try and stumble upon the command, but yet my actions are to no avail.
You Beta 3 testers might wanna reinstall with a new box version. Because of possible client-side differences I can't really help ya.
PS- Someone already discussed this, but make sure you empty out your crafting tools if your inventory fills up. The option appears the tab "Start Crafting" in the radial menu. You don't have to destroy tools!
Anymore questions? Keep posting!
i didn't read the entire post, so id im repeating anyone, sorry.
Theres also a wayt o select the crafting tool as well, something like /ui selectblahblahblah i have my macro set up to skip straight to my resources screen, then i do the last steps by myself, to practice and all, this saves me the time of having to empty my inventory
Does anybody know if there is a command to delete items in your inventory? Maybe a ui action call or something.. then you could set up a macro to delete all the crap you've been crafting. Just a thought.
Abe
First off I would like to say that YOU SHOULD NOT USE THIRD PARTY MACROS. The devs already make the process a whole lot easier for us with the ingame ones, and going outside the game is plain cheating. Plus it is not as fast b/c your inventory fills up and you have to destroy items.
The fastest way to macro that I have seen so far is not to enter /nextcraftingstage and craftprototype. as you have to destroy these items and that does eat a lot of your time.
Instead simply set up ui action commands such as the choose thecrafting tool, and then bring up a ceratin draft schematic.
I forget the exact wording, but I have it on my character.
Just hit enter three times instead of having to bother with destroying the items. It is better to hit the "enter" button 3 times very fast, than to destroy items. If you are like me than you have to go to the right item to destroy and then wave the mouse point around the center of the menu that pops up, then it will display destroy item. This takes too long.
People, just suffer through the crafting as it is not that time consuming when you can go up the levels so fast.
TIPS TO MAKE THE MACRO GRIND MORE PLEASENT:
Macro when you are very tired as you will kind of drift off into a subconcious state, as opposed to being energetic and extremely bored.
Set time limits for when you will macro. It is much more efficient this way. Say you play 2 hours a day. Spend 45 minutes grinding and then have fun with the rest of your time.
Don't take breaks to look at how much skill you have acquired. It is better to grind in one stint as you will get into a groove, and lets face it looking at a clock doesn't make the time go any faster.
Always Macro in the city. I cannot stress this enough b/c crafting in the desert (tatooine) is just boring, and when I am in a busy city there are plenty of people interacting and I can read what they are saying while I am grinding.
For me that last one cuts down on about 1/2 of my boredom. In the city grinding is not so bad at all.
Actually I just found a way that can make your crafting much more efficient by using the strategy of the creator of this thread.
Craft about 5 travel backpacks. Simply use the next crafting stage and create prototype commands to get lots of the item you are grinding with into your inventory.
Instead of destroying the items, simply drop them in your backpack really fast (holds 50). Then destroy the backpack. I am saying this b/c it costs precious secodns when you have to click on each item and then hit destroy. with a backpack you can drag items one after another in very fast. I loaded about 40 in 15 seconds saving me about 1 minute just off of that batch.

I have exactly the same problem you described and am also a Beta 3 tester with no way to uninstall application.
Accualy, they posted directions, and they were pretty simple..
Delete the install directory your beta SWG software was installed in, and re-install from teh CD's. The beta SWG didn't load any keys into the registry, or hide files elsewhere, so that's all there is to it.
This probably has alot to do with the issues both of you are having.
