Thread: post-patch weapon repairs
I wouldn't jump on amymik so fast. The overwhelming response to this thread has said that there are many more observations of "moderate successes", not more cases of critical failures. It's not a case where we look bad because the weapons are being destroyed more often by us... just that the life of a weapon has been shortened because there are many more 20% condition loss repairs than 5% condition loss repairs.
This effect *is* generally a good thing for weaponsmiths, and not such a good thing for customers. It will generate more turnover and demand for weapons as a result. But I don't think it's this effect that is really irritating people. It's the fact that weapon repair is so poorly understood and explained by SOE, and when a largely perceived change has taken place yet denied by the devs, the onus is upon the players to disprove it. A good number of smiths wouldn't have any problem if moderate successes were suddenly par for the course. But we don't want to be told that there is nothing different when there are so many people who have seen otherwise.

Pulled 17 junk looted weapons off my junk vendor. Just dropping off data, I'll leave you all to decide if it means anything.

Resorted in "how damaged was it" order for my own curiousity. Doesn't show anything other then initial condition really didn't matter much to the outcome inside this small sample (and that 5 of the 17 actually *lost* points in actual condition):

Test subject: identical Survival knives, condition 856/857, serial pagfsr2t
Test tool: 95.34 efficiency identical repair tools, serial hqenkbq6
Location: Rori -4398 -4380 (wilderness), no droid, no skill tapes
Repairs by: MASTER WEAPONSMITH
code for repair results:
M - minor blemish repair, reducing the condition to 814
R - repaired, but reduced condition, reducing the condition to 685
(no other repair results occured)
I have fought some animals with the survival knifes until the condition was reduced by 1 point, then switching to the next knife until I had 9-11 with the same condition. The I healed up and made a run of 9-11 repairs in a row, noting the repair results.
Note: It takes 20-30 minutes to reduce the condition of 10 knives. It has taken me 4 hours of game time to collect these 70 repair results. The time was converted from local time to pacific time.

Conclusion:
70 repairs
14 minor blemish repairs (20%)
56 reduced condition repairs (80%)
The results show that repairing is completely bugged. Come on, a master WS getting only 20% "perfect" repairs on weapons that have lost 1 point of condition?
This result shows exactly what all weaponsmiths are experiencing: a mayor reduction of good repair results.
TIME FOR THE DEVS TO ACT
I would be happy if SOE just made a statement that "weapon repairs have been changed to have more reduced condition results".
This way the customers would know that thier "condition reduced" repair is the norm now and not accuse me of using inferior repair tools on them.
I personally have no problem with weapons decaying faster, it means more sales for the entire WS community. I just wish the devs wouldn't stealth change it and make the WS take the brunt of customer outrage.
But the reply Logix got "nothing was changed" just implies a huge BUG, not any intention from their side.
We can discuss if this bug is actually a good thing, but it is still a bug that needs to be fixed. Otherwise the dev was lying to Logix and that would have more serious implications than I would like to think about right now.
not yet, i will do so today and post tomorrow, weaponsmith toolkit with 100% tools.
