Well ...

FWIW, I saw a WSM advertise tons of such weapons not so long ago and they're still around ...

that becomes a "bug"

when a said "bug" in its application allows an unfair advantage to a player/players in a way that was not intended

it becomes "exploiting"

Wrong, the BUG is the cask becoming serial numberless when placed in the schematic just like its a BUG white cubes dropped with no serial number......

Using both BUGGED things Knowingly to advantage from is exploiting....

Both BUGs are from Faulty design

exploit or by FAULTYdesign-

Chefs can make casks used in drinks......when the serial numbered cask is used in a schematic for say brandy, the cask becomes serial numberless, thus allowing the schematic to use any cask regardless of serial number, are chefs guilty of exploiting?

Most of you arrogant online rich boys have the situation completely backwards- the TRUE exploiting is the multi-millionaire Weapon Smiths that have a monopoly on the economy. Now there is a method for a new weaponsmith to makequality weapons in large quantities, so that the average gamer can spend time actually FIGHTING and having FUN instead of DYING and GRINDING a ton of missions for a week just to buy one single "elite" weapon.

If the price of a good Geo Blaster or Scytheis 50k instead of 2.5 mil, GOOD

Heh, how do you think it became like this? We didnt start this game with millions of credits and all the top quality resources we would ever need. I started on day 1 with a survival knife, some survey tools, a GCT and some melons. On bloodfin, the geo blaster schems were selling for upwards of 6+ million when they first dropped and scythes schems are still over 500k each. Krayyt tissues sell for 100-200k each the list goes on and on.......If people didnt try and gouge WS's then weapons would be cheaper for everyone.

Architects' wall modules do the same thing, but I believe these are by design.

And experimentation skills tapes are another example too. I just got an extra experimentation point to use and that almost cleaned out my wallet completely.

Resources also. I just saw a post on the Starsider forums from someone who said that wasn't anything good spawned right now so he offered to sell resources currently spawned "cheaply": 4-5 cpu. That should be more like 2 cpu for crummy resources (at least on Starsider).

Both are bugs, but the chef bug is not exploitable because it affects everyone equally. The serialless weapon component bug is exploitable because it requires specific bugged items and knowledge of how to exploit it.

POKEY THE PENGUIN SIG REMOVED BY GARVA BECAUSE "Just because you are crafty enough to get around the technicality of it being a .jpg or .gif does not mean it is not an image, it is not ascii art, it is an image" SO HERE IS MY NEW SIG.

If people use a Bug, it doesnt matter how equal it is amoungst the other people's ability to use it.

When you use a bug do to somethign that is not supposed to be, no matter how innocent, or non game breaking it is, you are still exploiting.

If/When they eventually get around to fixing it, that will be a good thing, now these unserial number white cubes are far from game breaking, which is why they probally havent been fixed in a rapid pace.

Now to say it's ok because then it gives you an an advantage so you can mass produce lots of weapons that are by design rare and rell them for extremly cheap, then you are the one doing the most exploiting. I don't care if your mind set is "it's their bug they have to live with it" I don't agree with that mentality, mistakes happen, programming is not a perfect science, I do not take advantage of other peoples mistakes. I will never report anyone I suspect of exploiting, but I will do what I can to make sure it doesnt happen.

I was told that you can report bugged items to CSR's, I had a set of Acklay bones that were 234mion 85max fixed to 85min 234max. WHats to say you can't take 7 unserialed White Cubes and ahve them fixed to 7 identical cubes with same serial number.

Make of this what you will.

im not a weaponcrafter, but im a master swordsman and i really like my scythe..anyway yesterday i was hunting in geo lab for nearly all day...came out in the morning to unload my drops and went in straight after reset at lunch time (british)

anyway it got to about 7.30 pm and i found a quiet spot to sort through my loot and make some space.

Now i had a full back pack of loot and nearly a full inventory, i checked a couple of "yellow worded" cubes and cores..errr hold on went back to look and after a few seconds noticed it didnt have a serial number..a rapid examination ..NONE of my loot from the afternoon to present had any serial numbers!!!

mightily ticked off..MIGHTILY.

i sat and fumed and resolutly started destroying...stuff this i thought..maybe a csr can do something...ticket submitted explaining situation..i exited the lab and sotred all remianing items ( about 20%) of what i originally had ) in my vault.

Got a csr response this morning explaing i could use the unserialed loot as long as i didnt use more than 11 items in 1 schematic.

im lucky i know 2 weaponsmiths very well and trust the loot i give them along with 2 scythe schems want be abused.

just thought i would share my experience
