I didnt become a weaponsmith to make subpar weapons. Let components drop that enchance and keep it that way. And make it so one weaponsmith with 3 at-st's (like one on my server) cant go out and farm them on a daily basis.

As it is, i'm getting SICK to death of the same people, coming to buy 10 and 15 of the same weapon off my vendors just so they can get ONE "uber" slice. Then they just destroy the darn weapons that didnt get the best slices... I think Smuggling needs a fix in this department... The quality of THIER tools should be proportial to the slice they get... They use crappy materials on thier clamps and and upgrade kits, they get crappy slices...

One hopeful aspect to this blunder by SOE is that they already have the solution to the problem:

MAKE THE UBERLOOT A CRAFTING COMPONENT.

Most Weaponsmiths I know (including myself) actually enjoy crafting Krayt enhanced weapons. Combat classes like getting uber loot and having uber weapons. Make getting exceptional items a *combined* effort between the crafters and combat types.

Duh.

Wait a minute.

It was said over and over, and over again that the best items would be player crafted items. That Player made weapons would be the best.

Uber loot would completely discredit all of there claims. They wouldn't do that would they?

I agree COMPLETELY, remove this type of "uber loot".

I actaully agree with a lot of what Imaridril said. This game is lacking in good loot and something does need to be done about it. But this particular solution is not the right one.

As others have said the improvments in loot should be with things like components, schematics or other things that involve both combat and crafter classes working together to get a great item. The way of dropping complete uber weapons or armor from the gods completely cuts out the crafters. Our only role in game then becomes to furnish combat classes until they have these mysterious uber items. Our products are just there to bridge the gap. This is what this petition is about.

We need a better solution to this problem than just dropping uber items. I think the expansion of the component/rare schematic system would be much better.

We have a thread where weaponsmiths are bragging abouttheir millionaire bank accouts, and now you are worried that you will go broke over some loot drops.

Get a life, the game does not revolve around you.

Most WS aren't millionaires, and it takes a lot of hard work to become a master WS to where you can start to make good money. You're right in one respect, the game does not revolve around the crafters. But with uber-loot drops we won't be needed at all, and suddenly the game will revolve entirely around the combat professions.

I will amend my prior post in one respect: I will support uber-loot drops provided the devs give master crafters a way to make comparable equipment, whether that be through a very small chance of creating a hand-crafted exceptional/legendary item (no factory schematics, of course) or putting in better component drops that can be used for crafting to make these types of uber-weapons.

It is absoluty stupid to put "uber" drop, whats the point of weaponsmithing. I have already witnessed a migration of people to dantooine and dathmir to setup PA for doing only the 20K missions, how easy it that, plus the setting up of pa's outside the mine city so they can kill creatures for holocrons.

Why are the devs gonna ruin the weaponsmithing profession?

cant sign this one... a 1 in 50000 drop of an uber weapon is not going to hurt anything...weapons wear out pretty quick and they will be back for our wares...

I posted the original notice on the Tusken Rifle. I hope it's a coding mistake, and this kind of response from you weaponsmiths is exactly what I thought was necessary and why I posted here.

This is an absurd overstatement of the current situation. There are what.. 3 uber weapons known after a week. Get real.

Here, allow me to make a construction suggestion based on the real situation and not BS hyperbole:

Ask the devs to limit all uber loot drops to 300-500 durability, limiting their usefullness. That would be a fair comprimise that would allow people other than crafters to be happy.

Stop looking at this 100% from what it means to you the weaponsmith and consider the fact that this is exactly what a very, very large number of the players want. They are sick of getting nothing for loot and they deserve these uber weapons for their efforts.

Well, I'll admit I might have over-reacted a bit. When I made my post I hadn't heard yetthat the uber-weapons were only supposed to be a 1 in 50,000 drop, so it probably won't be as bad as I feared. Up to then, all that I'd heard was that these weapons were supposed to be 'rare', but then so are holocrons and krayt tissues and I see plenty of those items being sold on the forums everyday. You're right, if the durability is around 500 or so, a 1 in 50,000 drop rate shouldn't be that bad. Though I have to wonder how long it will be until the combat professions start whining for the devs to increase the drop rate for these types of items; 1 in 50,000 drop rate won't keep very many power-gamers happy.

I understand your complaints and reasoning but to be honest, this game horribly horribly sucks on many many levels and part of the problem is that the combat system, fighting in general, is utterly pointless.

I understand you want to make the best weapons and never allow ANYONE else to find or sell anything better but please, understand that without SOME incentive for people to hunt, this game will simply die. It's utterly boring to hunt without a point or reason. Knowing this loot is in the game will give people a reason to fight and will hopefully make the game a bit more interesting for everyone.

Hell, we're all multimillionaires anyways, why not let someone else have a shot at it.

It's good to see some combat players are coming here with to talk about this problem constructively and with a cool head. Thanks guys

I'd like to add a few things to your discussion.

The thing with pixel money and WS haveing too much so they deserve a nerf is not really fair. I think how much money players have is up to the particular players style and goals in game. Personally I have never broken 250k as a WS and usually hover around 60k unless I'm saving for something. But some players entire MO in this game is to make millions, and so naturally they choose a merchant/crafter class and start working towards this. It's kind of warped to choose money as the measure of all players success in this game, it is only relevant to a few classes. As warped as if crafters were to start complaining they can't kill Krayts and demand more combat capabilities.

The main thing about this loot which no crafter (it's not just WS now) can ignore is that is removes our basic reason for playing this game. Sony has done something they said they would never never do and as a result a great many crafters lost there main goals. I think I can best explian this by giving you an example relevant to the combat class...
What would be your reaction be if Sony was to suddenly announce "Well guys we have thought about it and all things considered, the Jedi class just doesn't fit. We are scrubbing it."
This is how a lot of WS will be feeling now. The Jedi class is the main game goal for a lot of people in this game. Likewise the ability to make the finest equipment in game is the main game goal for the majority of crafters. I understand you may find this hard to compare as the Jedi class effects a wider player base and is closer to your heart, but the ability to make the best items is just as close to ours. That ability is a crafters FS slot.

From your posts above I know you have the ability to see things from both sides. Anyways we are not looking to keep loot as dumb as it was, We just don't like the way sony has handled the problem. Solutions like loot generated components and schematics or the ability to craft items with "exceptional" and "legendary" success results on extremely rare occassions are much better than just throwing out god-made loot drops. I think most on all crafters would be fine with this loot if we had someway to produce the same quality ourselves, even if it was one in 5000 builds.

We just want another solution to the loot problem. You have to adimit this particular fix was not very well thought out.

Alright I don't remember who said it but if someone is playing this game for "uber-loot" then they are an idiot. You play the game to have fun. Personally as a combat class my main incentive is not necessarily to be the most 1337 fighter out there but I do want to be good. I figure I can accomplish this by getting as many badges in game as possible. Badges are actually more fun because it takes time and skill. At most what you can hope for by looting is that slim chance that something good will come while going after badges and having fun just in general hunting will be much more fulfilling since it ends up giving the feeling of accomplishment. I've been krayt hunting for 3 days straight with very little in terms of loot. While the loot I have gotten has been very good it wasn't my primary goal in going out there. I had fun because I was hunting with friends that made the trip enjoyable. I completed the warren's second badge the day it was fixed and was happy that the past 3 days hadn't been wasted... in all honesty I've even enjoyed helping others through the warren when it was busted and after I finished the second badge. Anyways, the point to this overly long reply is that if you want to have fun go out and accomplish something that takes skills, you may say that killing whatever had the uber-loot took skill which is true but the actual loot you get from the dead body has nothing to do with any skills you are able to get in the game.
