I will stay for a month.

After that I will auction all my stuff off if it does turn out as described. I have never played a game as long and as intensely as this one. Its been truly addictive..... i hope it doesnt get screwed

I have to agree with Jase on this one, the CU will have just over 2 weeks between going live and the next time my monthly subscription's due - that's the window within which it has to prove to me that there's something worth it still left. That should also hopefully give me enough time to make sure all my guildies are sorted for whatever new weapons their certs/levels allow (if it wasnt for that responsibility I might have already left).

I'd have to say I'm 60/40 in favour of leaving - before the weapon cap news I would have said I was 70/30 in favour of staying. I spend more time searching these forums than playing at the moment, and I'm reminded of a conversation between Professor Xavier and Magneto on the catwalk at the start of X-Men......

Magneto, tapping his head: "Are you sneaking around in here Charles? Whatever are you looking for?"

Xavier: "I'm looking for hope......"

lol i like the people who actually quit before the CU is even finished..

Maybe you just have problems to accept a new system? How long did you really test it?

NGE satisfaction meter.

Give it a shot [--------------------------------------|] SOE should be shot

2 Accounts cancelled - Thanks for ruining this once great game.

I'll give it 1-2 months max. I'm not sure what there is to go, but I don't like being screwed... repeatedly (multiple accounts, multiple nerfs over 2 years).

It's interesting isn't it that SOE is revamping the whole game to supposedly make it easier for new players to begin, but basically making it unworkable and punishing veterans to do so. I can't help but think they may have really missed the boat. There is no way SWG has more than 150k subs (not individual players) with the overwhelming success of WoW (the president of EA said recently it caught the whole industry by surprise and they dont even have any online games). Do they honestly believe that by making SWG more accessible like WoW they will get more players and thus more renewable revenue (subscriptions)? Seems to me all that is going to happen is that they will have more attrition of veterans and not get the uptake they presume since anyone who was going to come to SWG from WoW would have done so in the last few months (since WoW launch in Oct). I really doubt there are that many potential new players out there who will be persuaded by the CURB and RotW and Episode3 to subscribe and stay (that's the key). More likely the market is fully tapped.

So all the CURB will do is piss off veterans who were already more/less happy with the game, since they already had the chance to leave post-JTL in Oct.

How long have we had?

The reality check here friend is that the CU and RotW is already being burned and shipped for May 5, which is still the public launch date. There is not much they will change in that time or could change. And the things I'd like changed --toolbar, level, wpn cap, resources -- dont seem very likely to be repealed. So what we see now is very probably the way it will be. We can all tell the way the game is moving -- not "balanced" but revamped like EQ2 for new and temporary (IMO) players.

Besides this whole "Beta" is a joke -- <4 weeks is not a realistic Beta. SOE was never serious about player input otherwise they would have started it in Jan when SOETyrant and Calandryll (who both quit) indicated we would start seeing changes on TC.

Playing forever and promissed myself to stop playing when the servers finaly go down.. but now it seems like i give it 1 monh to be BETTER than the old SWG not just good.
Because if SWG 2.0 is worse than the real SWG then its a CD Combat downgrade

what is there to strive for after CU ? i wont need to spend hours tracking down res , or making sure that my weapons excell in comparison to others , they are taking the fun away and are also robbing us of all our work prior to CU .

ill give it a few weeks , if they do turn me into nothing more than what tailors are now , then i will be leaving defo ,

Are you all really planning to quit? No offense, but I think a lot of you are just angered by the CU. Obviously EVERYONE is getting nerfed, not just WS. I myself am considering picking up 20 Weap. Exp. points and starting a WS toon because it looks like a lot of fun and as good of a credit making oppurtunity current and post-CU as any in the game. When I did Armorsmith a year ago, it was fun for a while, but got boring fast because you're just making composite for the most part and once you hit that 80% kinetic mark that's pretty much it. Not much loot-armor, not as much as loot-made weapons. I think I'm still going to do WS.

If it was just weaponsmith getting CU-Screwed, I'd understand. But everyone is getting screwed, crafters especially by the looks of it. But things will adjust, and I think weaponsmith will still continue to be a lucrative crafter, and one of the most fun, as long as getting loots to make weapons is worth it and these "caps" don't make every gun the same damage.

And yeah, the ADK's do suck. Everyone and their mom has one now, some two or three, and that is really bad for the WS profession. It is one of the only things still making me contemplate going WS or not.

And about shipwright, I really wouldn't bother with that. Such a resource hog, and space in SWG has about as many ships flying around as we do in real life space (ok maybe not that few but JTL is really dead for the most part compared to the ground). JTL was a flop and a half because there really aren't many goals/rewards in space as there are on the ground. No ladder or nothing like that for PvP.

I still think Weaponsmith will be one of the best credit-makers post-CU. Just gotta see how hard it's gonna be to get the loots for weapons.

This isn't just sour grapes. It sounds like you aren't a Weaponsmith yet, so you can't really know what it's like now, versus what Weaponsmithing will be like in the CU. If you are really serious about becoming a WS, I suggest you read ALL the CU related posts in this forum, so that you can get an idea of what our valid and legitimate concerns are.

Don't make assumptions about us or about weaponsmithing; do the research and find out for yourself. If the CU goes live as it is, the difference between crafting now and crafting in the CU will be like the difference between night and day.

I think you'll find that most weaponsmiths dont actually make much money. I have spent more than I have earn't on weaponsmithing, thats a loss over 6 months that is *slowly* moving into a profit. In those 6months I couldve made hundreds of millions of credits looting. Weaponsmithing is just too damn fun tho.

As much as the crafting nerf has troubled me, I will see how I like the new game before I cancel my accounts. I have already decided that my Weaponsmith will fade to a supportposition for my other accounts, associates, and guildmates.

SWG was special in having a player run economy that allowed unique crafting and selling opportunites...but making cookie cutter weapons is not going to be much fun. All the months and months of work that has gone into harvesting the best resources andbuying/hunting great enhancement components will now mean squat. A SWG NooB can start a WS/Smuggler and produce like weapons in no time (resource quality doesn't mean as much anymore). Those with (orwill be getting)harvester farms will crank out many 'cookies' at a fraction of the price. I have no desire to grind out such ordinary weapons for the masses and deal with the work of maintaining vendor volume. I will let the WS die hards and the WS Noobs battle it out.

I, like many, have long awaited a combat revamp of some sort, but I never thought that balancing combatant players meant to scrap most of what SWG was and serve up a new game with the same title. It hurts to see how badly the non-combatant players (crafters, entertainers, etc) will be treated - some have already taken serious hits (merchant). SOE wants SWG to focus on the fighting systemto regain a player base - and to that extent, the non-combatants are expendable. Since crafting has been dumbed down....I am wondering if SWG will go the other mile to further copy other game attibutesand allow more character slots. Then everybody can just easily craft their own things if they desire too.

I think most non-ws haven't heard of the weapons cap. 10pt + 20% slice = 12pt uber resources + 2% slice.

I'm staying...

Now the Merchant issue w/ dropping stuff off your vendor by the 100's may get me to go....so far, no WS issues are great enough for me to leave though.

I am not quiting due to the CU actually. The reason I quit is because I think that SOE is giving the players a slap in the face. When 81% say that they are unhappy with the changes why go against popular opinion? It is thePLAYERS that make this game. To completely IGNORE us and lie is awful.

THAT is why I quit.
