Here is an interesting link of someone describing the problem with armor:

It doesn't really help with the specifics of why it is happening, but it does seem like this is getting more common.

Well, no luck so far.

I bought a few identical unsliced pistols (republic blasters) yesterday and proceded to grind one down with powerups and repairing everytime it lost condition. I finally failed the repair and ended up with a 1/1 condition gun.

My question: How do you gat a gun to 0 or negative condition anyway?

It might be a result of a specific repair result (blah blah item has lost maximum condition) and an item that's already in low condition. Easiest way to get weapons down into low condition is to get a couple buffed elite combat classes, give them CDEFs and powerups, and have them spam overcharge shot at each other. If you use terrible metals in the CDEFs they'll have low condition to start off with, overcharge shot uses 1 condition every two shots, and powerups might make it degrade even faster.

just a random guess, but 1 condition evry 2 shots, wouldnt be some kind of rounding +repair problem with this would it?

It might be related to repairing since it seems like you need a certain type of repair in order to make it go negative in the first place. Type of shot is probably unrelated, it wouldn't matter how the gun's condition is lowered as long as it's low enough to fit whatever conditions are necessary to make it go negative on repair.

This is going to be a pain to reproduce. While failing to do my homework on the ABPH thread I did fit in a little time to fiddle with this with no tangible results.

Reversed Float variable. Goes from 0 to 32767 NOT -1. This couldd be it. I have seen this in other games that I have tested as well as in code I have written. This means that a weapon would not be negative however.

I dunno, could be worth a look if you can see the code

true, figuring out how to make it go negative could be as much of a pain as finding out the advantage of it being negative.

A couple weeks ago a player brought me a weapon to repair that was something like 0/850 condition. I told him it was toast but gave it a try anyway. I got a minor blemishes spam and the gun ended up -47/803 or something like that. I figured the 0 condition was the result of simple math (0 * whaterverpercentrepair = 0) and then the formula that dropped the overall condition dropped the stat negative. I gave the weapon back and he was bummed but wandered off to my vendor for a replacement.

I reccommend you simply destroy any weapon you recieve with a negative condition to protect yourself, plus you get anew customer for asale

I did some testing with this tonight. A guildmate of mine had a 0/850 scatter. I repaired it 6 times to get -907/1 condtion. I took it out and shot some spiders and hit for 10 points of damage. Handed it back to my BH guildmate and he only hit for 1 point, but the condition droped to -909/1. I'm not sure what the negative cap is yet, but it didn't do ANYTHING at all for damage. The weapon shows 0-0 for damage. Hopefully someone else can confirm this as well.

Did anyone check to see what kind of missions you get with the negative condition weapons? Also, if red NPCs react differently? Aren't both related to the equiped weapon?

I am personally going to use it as a nice addition to my house as i have replaced it now, but there could be someone running around with broken armour and guns.......??

I hate the repairing failure, it always breaks on me...., im just not gonna repair anything anymore!!!!
