I read somewhere that the dps of a weapon is roughly determined by its certifications place in the skilltree.
So everyone with an exceptional or otherwise uber weapon can only hope his weapons certification after the CU will be as high as possible in the tree.
Hundreds of players throwing fearful glances into the skilltree after each beta-patch ....

what about items such as looted pikes, with low damage, but some pretty dam good dots, as in 240 mind fire/poison dots, like on my 200 max damage LVA.
Will this mean that the dot is SOMEHOW added to the weapon, and improves it in SOMEWAY, and might, if im lucky, bring it in line with a standard one? If so, what about those that spent 1 - 2mil or more on nice dot weapons with low damage.

I know I'm not alone in this, but I really feel that the DL-44 and the more iconic Star Wars weapons need to be the most powerful guns out there. It kinda bites to use guns I don't really care about as a master pistoleer. The DE10 is sexy, but come on, I want to use a DL-44 as a master smuggler, and a scout blaster at master pistoleer.
It would be nice to let the newbies keep the DL-44, but allow masters to own upgraded, non-newbie-certed versions of these guns as well. Why do the newbs get all the good stuff?

The fact we can make krayt versions of DL44's and scout blasters means they are viable weapons past the first 2 boxes of marksman. If this is removed 2 of the most recognised guns in SW become a 1 hour grind weapon and useless afterwards.
I don't mind losing a little power so I canuse a gun like Han Solo instead of having to haveone like Flash Gordan but not if it means I am doing CDEF damage.

Metal dl44 are higher up in the skill tree in the CU, not 100% sure about scout blasters but if I´m correct same applies to the scouts.

DOTs of this sort will indeed be removed completely from all weapons. The point values of the DOTs will not be converted on a 1-1 ratio; instead a formula is used to derive a more reasonable value for the end weapon. All weapon valueswill be modified to be within acceptable (from a balance perspective) ranges of the new weapon target numbers. The truth of the matter is that there are some very overpowered DOT weapons in the world, and those weapons will no doubt lose much of their punch. These weapons should, however, still be relativelyexcellent weapons within the new system - just not the overpowered uber weapons they are now.

I've heard, through the grapevine, that there's a "DPS" conversion rate from this system to the new, so that your weapon's damage per second is equal from now to then.ie Best weapon on the server, will still be the best weapon on the server., even though the stats will be different (the dmg type will change at very least).
"the buzz" on the DOTs are that the strength of the DoT will be directly added to the maximum damage of the weapon.
This is where I lose my train of thought with the DOT's not existing... What about those EXCEPTIONAL T21's with Exceptional DOT's on them as well... Such as:
4085 Mind Fire
125% Pot
1100 Duration
12340 Uses... Does that mean that on top of the Max Damage of the Rifle you are going to add 4085 to it?!?! That would defeat the purpose altogether.... If it was up to me. ( be thankful it's not ), I would remove weapon DOTs altogether to eliminate confusion.

what about weapons dat have skill enhancing stats on them like eg: defense vs. knockdown ? as far as i have seen mods like that are no longer in the game (skilltree wise).

Now, what about the two craftable DOT weapons: The Modified Republic Blaster and the Enhanced E11 Carbine? Will they still have DOTs? Will Skill Mods replace DOTs (a la the Featherweight FWG5)? Will the schematics just go poof?

A) Currently everyone looks the same when they are out in the field for the most part. They all wear Composite armor because it is the best. (this is being fixed with the new armor that is coming out. Props to the Devs.)
B) In the Combat Upgrade, All master professions will have to run around using the best non-newb weapons. So you'll NEVER see a master using a DL44, Scout Blaster, 2-handed Curved sword, wookie with a bowcasteretc...That sucks.

I agree with you Lotridus. I also forsee, unless changes are made elsewhere, the separation of damage and speed experimentation on weapons being a flat out bonanza for 12 point masters. Expert WS will go from selling little to selling nothing at all. Ten point masters will become WS hobbyists (until they buy the tapes they need to compete).
I don't have a solution, but this problem was less serious until the CURB changes. Now it issomething that looks like it needs a fix- flame away

Sorry to post here again but this has been bugging me all day.. and I had to say..
Trust SOE to totally ruin yet another classic SW icon (the DL44) by making it useless other than leveling. If I didn't know better I'd say they were trying to remove any SW feel at all.

I have a conversion question I'll try to get answered here rather than create another thread.
What will happen to all the Commando expendable weps? I have loads of these in crates and some that have been uncrated to slice. I'll need to know if I should un-crate everything to get the best bang for my buck so to speak.

QFE......please move the DL44 to at least 3rd Tier Pistoleer or Smuggler, The pistol is a SW icon for an iconic character. If the Republic Blaster is issue sidearm for Naboo Security.....does that now mean that all Naboo Security Officers were master pistoleers?!?
