don't use d-18's to grind, especially if you spent 4 hours to go up half-way. i use proj riffle barrels at 90 wcxp a piece and made the first box in about 2-3 hours. you're seriously wasting your time if you're grinding with d-18's.

I do pretty much exactly the same thing as Dunilo, If I'm near a crafting station and want to grind, I grind out 10-15 of each D18 compenent, neaming each one with a qualifier, then make pistols out of all of them, and really nice pistols I get go on the bizare for 700credits, any mediocre ones go up for 600. Both seem to sell within an hour or two.

I'll also grind while following a buddy somewhere, or running to my house, in this instance I'll usually try and squeeze off 10-15 projectile barrels along then way. Seems to have worked pretty well for me, and balances "grinding" with actually trying to make money.

Well, I make two-handed axes after getting the level 1 melee weapons. Its 135xp and don't have to worry about making another small part. Though, you go thru a lot of iron and wood, and a bit of steel.

If you must grind, here are some things you might try - they helped me,

1) Craft something that only takes one resource type.If it takes onlyone resource type then you can concentrate your harvesters in one spot which reduces harvester maintenance time.

2) Choose a schematic that uses a resource that can be found in high concentration on the planet you'll be crafting (90% or better really helps). Higher resource concentration means more resources per hour per harvester.

3) Choose a schematic that doesn't require you to beat a crafting station. This helps because it's once less box to click while crafting the component (no experiment prompt) and you can craft near your harvesters so you can sample and craft at the same time.

4) Choose a schematic that comsumes as many resources as possible. Since in general XP = 2 * resources comsumed, the more resource used per component the less components you have to make.

5) Use as many crafting tools as required to avoid having to wait for a tool to be available. I use as many as 5 for slower components.

6) Position the dialogs and tools on the screen to avoid unnecessary mouse movements.

7) You can use <return> to dismiss some of the dialogs - use it where you can, it's faster than clicking.

Where exactly are u all selling these D18 pistols for 600 and 1000c.

I have 20 on my bazaar for 100c and haven't sold a SINGLE one.

I offered them for FREE and couldn't give them away.

I'm really losing my patience with this Novice Weaponsmith thing.

Every other skill is going fine with me except for this.

I found blade vibro units to be best just need solid petro fuel and metal very quick to build and 70cxp each.

This is just at novice level thou blaster barrels are good at the next level thou not as fast to make.

it seems the d18's are no longer getting the 315XP previously reported. Now it breaks down like this..

power coupler - 50 points

barrel - 60 points

assembly of full d18 - 115 points

------------------------

total - 225XP

Looks like the GMs deliberately made it harder recently. My town/planet/server is the same, you cant give away d18s. I think I need to find a PA looking for a weaponsmith thats sensitive to their cause. Then they could all run around w/ my would-have-destroyed-anyway d18's killing stuff to help get me over the hump .

I sell D18's for 500-1200, they have 20-77 damage and around 3.2 speed, average is around 18-70.When I get a junk D18 I'mlucky to get 100c for them. By junk I mean 16 - 45 damage. I dont even waste my time selling those anymore as I can create better CDEFs than that, and nobody wants either.

What materials are u using to make these 20-77 D18's?

Why do I max out at 18-56 on my D18's?

I blew through novice making fragmentation grenages by the millions. I sold a bunch on the bazar as well as gave them to PA members in batches of 10 or so. They seemed to like them.

Right now I am using mythra copper that has an 870ish conductivity, which gives killer experimentation results. Makes a D18 that rivals most DL44's in damage, and has much better speed.
