*sigh*

Time to take "Low-End Weaponry" out of my sig......

I'm currently a 4434 WS, and sell everything I make.

As for not making money off low-end weaponry?

I sell 2-Handed Curved Swords (53-220, 2.9spd) all the time. I keep the Bazaar stocked (with them, and others), and they sell off my vendor daily too. I sell these for 5k apiece.

I typically sell 10+ a day, and happily make 40k minimum daily, from weapon sales. Yes, this covers all my maintenance and travel, with all 10 lots in use.

< Unlsiced VKs 160 damage 2.0 speed go for +100k.>

Without special components, VKs cap at about 147. What are you talking about?

< Its hard enough as it is to gather the resources to catch up with those that have been doing this for a year now. >

As a relatively new player (only a couple months), I disagree.

I've only started looking (within the last couple weeks) for good WS resources. I expend a little effort, and I get most of what I need. I keep an eye on the resources on the planets I go to, and drop 6 harvs on something that I need.

< Hmmmm......didn't think about any of this Brilyn? Wait! Maybe you ARE obviously stupid and have no idea what you're talking about. >

Alternatively: I *did* think about all that.

AND SINCEI CAN COMPETE WITH 7 POINTS, THERE'S NO REASON WHY PEOPLE WITH 10 CAN'T COMPETE.

See, big letters?

Will I break it down to single syllables for ya?

Or you do just want to flame some more?

First off, I just want to clarify something I said in my earlier post that apparently was misunderstood. There were in Star Wars lore people whom were not Jedi, but were force sensitive and had some degree of ability with it. I never said that there were force sensitive crafteres. However, if being sensitive with the force can allow you to pilot a ship better, shoot a blaster better, fight better, dodge better, remember things more accurately (all examples of things jedi or force sensitive people were able to do) then why not be able to complete the intricate process of crafting better.

Simply stated the idea of force sensitve crafting is not absurd and to me at least fits into the idea of force sensitivity.

As to the posts that followed mine I have continuosly heard the plite of new players or new weaponsmiths brought up. If weaponsmithing or any vrafting profession I ever attain becomes easy I'll drop it. I picked up WS because it was hard and interested me. I wanted to be more than someone who signs on every weekend and kills stuff for a few hours. The noobies wil have to go through the same process as everybody else, gathering good resources attaining master. Then they can decide if becominga 12 or 14 crafter is worth it to them.

One last point, Ma duece you mentioned how 160 max dam VKs go for 100k on your server, at worst those cost 4-5k to make. For the new WS or crafter of any kind i say this. There is a very large market out there for reasonably priced, quality equipment. Armor that dosn't cost over 200k would be nice as well.

Very well put and in a considerate manner. I respect your opinion but disagree; on some points.

Fine, make FS crafting a factor in the game. But why reward those that have already completed the mindless profession grind with something that they didn't even start the Jedi process for to begin with. SOE is changing the rules of the game after it has been played now for almost 9 months (the Jedi grind game). If they had merely stated their position when this all started, don't you think there would have been a lot more master crafters that would have dropped their professions then to do the Jedi grind? Now the master crafters have to do the FS grind under a totally different set of rules to get the same reward as someone that has simply grinded out one profession after another till the unlocked. Don't anyone give me the "it wasn't easy to grind so many professions arguement" either. It's ridiculously easy compared to what the devs have already said that the new system will require.

Fine, make FS crafters craft a little better. BUT 2 MORE POINTS?!?! Come on. The power-gamer will now have this advantage not because they did anything to earn it. They'll get it purely by default. Besides, like I said before, FS crafting can take other forms besides giving a crafting edge to the present system; or a significantly bigger edge.

I didn't take up weaponsmithing because it was easy either. But alienating the new players simply by changing the rules doesn't make sense. Like I said before, gathering resources to match that of established crafters IS already hard enough. If you only log in once a week, its that much harder to do. The newbie hard-factor already exists.

As for the VKs I mentioned, those are only the par while the good resource storages last. There's no way you can make them for 4-5k each when: 1) you need 12 points to do it. 2) the resources required to get that kind of quality is 20cpu and they no longer exist for harvesting. 3) your maintenance costs are outpacing your budget because the lower-end items don't sell.

My server has a tremendous problem with inflated prices for several reasons; one of them being the demand for even crappy resources by so many Jedi grinders. 2 other reasons are credit duping and mission exploits for credits. Its an enormous probelm. Almost everyone is already rich because of this and since there are fewer and fewer new players, the lower-end items just aren't selling.

The new FS system will just make it that much worse IMO

Actually, I think that most of the power gamers that ground their way through numerous professions are probably far more interested in playing their Jedi character than they are in making a Force Sensitive crafter character. Playing a Jedi already takes up a lot of time, and with the new system it sounds like it will take even more time to advance as a Jedi. I doubt that most of them will have much time for serious crafting.

Never count on someone to do the right thing. Ninety percent of the jedis ended on a crafting profession. They were combat oriented to begin with, but now see easy money in crafting. So have kept their alt a money machine to fund a jedi. So giveing them even more points will only be a means to feed jedi lusts. All in all this is a scarey idea, and if they make it a mountain I cannot climb I will just cancel my crafting account.

Earlier posters were right this is changeing the rules mid stream. No reason to punish people that actually participated in the community. This is the start of something bad that in the end will chase off alot of the most loyal players. Hey I understand you worked really hard to be the best at what you do, but hey that guy over there mastered scout medic entertainer creature handler and tka he deserves to be better then you. Um where is the logic in this. Punish those that worked hard to be the best at something and reward the person that dropped professions left and right.

Is this what anyone signed up for when they started Weapon smith getting run over by people that put no effort in. If they want to dump this on irresponsible combats thats okay. It wont break anybody seeing as they killed off the GCW. Crafters on the other hand will be hurt by this kind of behavior. They are rewarding the least deserveing and punishing those that worked hard.

I think that a lot of the people who already have the FS slot unlocked are probably going to play a jedi since it is an extra slot for them at the.

However, I do agree that it is somewhat unfair that they get these advantages. I think that any that currently have active jedi or FS characters should be forced to go the jedi route. If they want to take that additional slot and run through all of the quests required to gain force sensitivity, then go right ahead. So on that point I agree.

As to how much weapons sell for, your server really seems like an anomoly. I may be wrong, but a lot of the people on these boards seem to be able to make a decent amount of money selling the mid-range weapons mentioned earlier. This also seems to work for other crafters as well. I frequent the armorsmith boards as well as these, as I am working on AS.

If anything, I have to say that all arguments aside, ending the hologrind is about the best thing that could happen to this game before Jump to Lightspeed releases.

< As I had stated before, this issue has to do with a lot more than whether or not YOU can sell low-end weaponry. >

You have stated that people with less than 14 points will be unable to compete with those who do.

You have failed to give any level of evidence to back this up (much like every hyperbole-ridden thread on these boards).

I have presented anecdotal evidence that directly contradicts what you are stating.

The obligation is now on you to present *evidence*. Please, show how 10pt smiths cannot make money compared to 12pt smiths, as the same inability to make money should follow.

< Resources vary by server. At one time there was a Desh copper that spawn that would allow vibro blade units to have a little higher stats than what has apparently been available on your server. Also, there was a spawn of duralloy steel that had 1000SR, so yes, the cap of VKs on my server may indeed be a little higher than yours. >

*My* VKs do not cap at 147, they cap at about 135 or so.

It has been stated in this forum that VKs of about 147 as good as they get (baring optional subcomponents).

You have stated that VKs of 160 max damage sell for +100k.

I am questioning this. Please provide evidence. Otherwise, it's simply *more* hyperbole.

< On my server, both the above resources would cost you 10 to 20cpu; way out of reach for a new player. That stuff has long since shifted, so there's no way noobs can harvest it themselves. >

Nonesense.

You need 25 units of Desh for an Advanced Vibro Blade Unit (AVBU).

Newbie generates 120k with minimal effort. Buys 1k of Desh, 1k of Platinate Copper, 1k of good SR Steel, 1k of good SR Copper, and 1k of any Class 3 Solid Fuel.

He now has the resources for up to about 40 *good* Vibroknucklers. Let's say he only manages to make 10.

120k is assuming worst case scenario, newb is paying up to 30cpu on all the resources (bar the Fuel).

At the *amazing* prices on your server, newb can now attempt to sell those 10 VKs for, I dunno, 40k each.

Given that he's a 10pt smith, he should be able to match any 10-pt smith out there, but is selling for 40% of the price. Sales should be relatively easily made, 400k easily accrued.

I really REALLY don't see the difficultly here.

< YOU can compete just fine on your server? /hands Brilyn a bofa treat. A 7 point smith on my server would be lost in the shuffle. He/she would be lucky to make 40k a week; and thats with constant panhandling. >

Perhaps you would care to explain how people on your server magically know how many points a smith has?

Are they psychically aware of how many points the smith has when they look at the weaponry on the bazaar on your server? Do they look and go "ooh, good stats, but no, only 7pts. I *can't* buy from them"?

Or is the bazaar perpetually empty on your server, as *everyone* with a *single* exception buys direct from vendors?

< If you had simply stated your case politely, then your point of view would have been received in a like manner. >

Meh.

I can live without a polite response.

I get frustrated at reading yet *another* crappy post about "oh no, the sky is falling !!!!!" when you haven't posted a SINGLE shred of supporting *evidence*.

So, with nothing to back you up, am I supposed to simply accept your view? When my experience runs contrary to what you are stating?

Hence the "maybe I'm stupid" comments, because what you are saying lacks credibility, completely. You state your case as if it were readily apparent for all to see, when it clearly CLEARLY is not.....

Okay some people demand proof here it is and I hope this is not complicated math for ya. I have an alt MBH now if i shop around and say find two weapons with the same damage speed, but one hastwelveless ham costs per each bar. Umh hmm which will I pick now I know that those extra twelve points will sure as hell buy me another shot or another twenty seconds in battle. The guns are nearly the same price. They both have great damage and speed, but if I have to chose I think I will chose the one that strangles me the least. Fourteen points is not merely a slight edge its a huge edge. Some people are just not thinking about the fact that those four extra points can get used every step of the way. If you have oh a middle school education you might place your spare points in the same collumn on each subcomponent that will allow it.

In plainer english if there were fourteen point smiths out there. I wouldnt buy from me. I would go out and buy the better weapon, and this resource argument is bull. Its all in the resources is complete nonsense. Especially when you can blow ten million credits and get a three month supply of them. I could go out and buy twenty of the best resources to ever spawn on my server in less then three hours.

12 on 10 is manageable because those two extra points are not really adding up to much, but 14 on ten is different. The difference is noticeable and profound. That diffence can determine battles. That difference will make one persons weapon pronounced universally as better.

So why dont you pull out a pen and paper or gee if thats too hard for you use a calculator do the math, and see just how much a difference four extra points can make before opening your big mouth. People arent worried without reason. Also we are not talking about jedi here we are talking about hologrinders that did not make it in time. Hologrinders that will get a bonus that people who stuck with a profession arent getting.

I don't see the problem, after pub10 anyone can get those extra 2 points by just doing some crafter related quests. It's not like you have to do as much work as all those holo grinders have already done.
You will only have to do 1/6th of the quests for jedi, compared to the hologrind (lets say the average nr of profs for unlocking is 24) thats only 4 profs.
And you won't even have to drop your current professions...

< In plainer english if there were fourteen point smiths out there. I wouldnt buy from me. >

First off: you can't supply everyone.

The demand for weapons will exceed your ability to supply.

Second, you will charge more than most players are prepared to/are capable of paying.

< Its all in the resources is complete nonsense. Especially when you can blow ten million credits and get a three month supply of them. I could go out and buy twenty of the best resources to ever spawn on my server in less then three hours. >

Um..... "It's all in the resources is complete nonsense" followed by 'I'll buy the best resources'....?

The pen and paper barb was mildly funny, but at least read your own posts......

< 12 on 10 is manageable because those two extra points are not really adding up to much, but 14 on ten is different. The difference is noticeable and profound. >

The difference is double the 12 on 10.

I did a quick poll of a few combat-heavy guys I know (they PvP a lot, PvE a good bit too): They don't look at the HAM of a weapon when buying. Just the Damage/Speed.

< People arent worried without reason. >

On the contrary, people are *always* worried without reason. Especially with regards change.

If you take the time to browse these forums you will see *multiple* statements by master smiths that the 2 extra points don't matter.

If 14 v 10 turns into the major deal you appear to think it is, then I guess the 10 pointers can spend the day or so (or whatever it takes) to get the +2 Force Sensitive points.......

But, feel free to keep panicing. Don't let rational thought stop you.....

Here is a question I have had about this force sensitive crafting for quite some time. Right now the Damage speed bar is capped at 10 points. The question really is will FS crafters be able to put 12 pts on the damage/speed ar if that were to be true then what MaDeuce is saying would carry a bit more weight with me. HAM, and durability differences barely matter to anyone, but .5 off the speed and 10-20 more damage would make a huge difference to some people.

As for the resources if you dont have the best you can't even use those points where you want. If your not in the 800 or 900s on all the resources going into an item you wouldn't even be able to 12 let alone the 10 we have. Resources will always be the most important aspect of crafting, but 12 points to damage if it were to be allowed would put things out of wack.

I haven't heard anything saying that they will increase the damage speed bar to 12 pts, just asking if anyone has heard definitively either way?

Perhaps master brilyn would like to look into the new combat patch notes. That the ham pools used for combat will not be buffable and finite. Your friends will learn a new lesson in pain if they are constantly betting the farm on buffs eighty percent armor and the like.

Second oh indeed you can monopolize the market. There is always a demand is not a true market. For every one weaponsmith that succeeds there are three that quit in disgust after a month. Like I said earlier a single weaponsmith can produce thousands of weapons a week, and ten or so on any server doing that can devour the market to a fantastic degree. In other words its possible to produce more weapons then decay.

My problem is this bonus goes to people that hologround and they get almost immediately if they fell just a step short. Someone said earlier 3 to 6 months and there is no guarantee it will even be crafting related. It might be something where a weaponsmith needs to be guilded or hire a pack of goons to complete.

A pack of goons, where can i get some? Sounds like fun. ROFL

But, seriously as to your point of people mass producing weapons. There are certainly people who can and will do that. On Intrepid there are a couple who do that on Naboo, but at least in my experience they are very expensive. Yeah they have 50-60 T-21s but they are all between 80-120k. That in my opinion is absurd. True credits are hideously inflated, but still do you really need to make 1000cpu off the weapons you sell. I sellweaponsfor about 60-200cpu and I still feel like I am ripping people off. I still say that on any server if your weapons are of good quality, they don't need to be the best, there will be a market if they are reasonably priced.
