the new change for resource quality is going to be 2%. it should be in TC notes today or tomorrow or whenever it gets updated. the devs read (yes, they do our posts) our concerns, talked about the numbers, and agreed that 10% is too high.
it's good news at least
atleast? forgive me for asking, but what did you want?
dont get me wrong, I'm happy with the change, but it's more beneficial to 'veteran' crafters as opposed to benefiting the whole crafting community...
I was kind of hoping for a buff that would affect something else other then rescources, there were plenty of good ideas floating around...
i see what you mean.

it seems the Devs have been listening to the community a lot more lately. first the XP switch now this.....i see something good coming from all this compromise.
I hope so...

how many items in the game max out at 98% right now? some components will, but few final builds do, especially in our profession. we will benefit from some better melee weapons for sure, but i don't see a lot of change in our ranged weapons builds, though 2nd tier WS should feel the improvement.
I'd have to run the numbers, but I'm pretty sure that 2% will let Armorsmiths cap many if not all types of armor.
Also, I don't know off the top of my head, but I THINK, that 2% will create 15.00 / 45.00 tools and BER 14 harvesters.
2% also either caps or comes close to capping final builds of weapons with the new BH loot.

As a 2+ year collector of resources a majority of my builds are pretty close to the 97-98% mark. I can gurantee that melee will be capped out easily with 2% bonus for those galaxies that don't have 1000SR spawn.
i eclipse had some 1000sr steel and iron and loads of 999 998 997 996 stuff this has to happen on galaxies as well

Though I'd prefer that resource buffs were removed completely, 2% is a workable compromise. Hmmm, why do I get the feeling the Devs pulled another bait-and-switch on us though.

I'd rather not have it at all, but the 'buff-lite' 2% is not a potential game-breaker like the frankly insane 10% would have been.
This doesn't seem like a good thing at all. It's much better than the 10%, but it will have a negative effect on many of the items crafted. Anything less than a perfect +15.00 tool will be considered junk. It'll also take the bottom out from high end resource merchants (or any weaponsmith who has spent a bunch on high end resources).

I want to make sure I understand the change - now any resource with 981 OQ or higher (or whatever stats your're interested in) is a perfect resource in that it will be exactly the same as a resource with 1000 OQ?

as you said, it is better than the 10% one though, which would have done it for everything at 920 and up. to me this is more like a system wide "fresh spawn" of resources. had all the right stuff come out, anything less than the new best would be worthless anyway. that is the nature of a system the way this is, but you don't hear people complaining when a new resource pops that makes all their stuff obsolete because they didn't get to harvest any of it. you just cut your losses and move on. this will definitely benefit the mid level players more than the high level ones. and when i say "high level" i am talking about crafters who know what they are doing, not just masters in general. the more i think about it and look at my secondary resource pile, the more i think this is actually going to be a good change for the second tier crafters, not just some new players. it will help some vets as well who weren't able to buy any top tier in certain categories, and it will help new players as well because they will see an immediate benefit, although a smaller one than the higher end resources (obviously 600+2% < 800+2%).
I think this will hurt the new crafter, as there will be even less variety. You'll either have a perfect item, or you won't sell it. Mid-level crafters and high level crafters will all be churning out perfect items, and the low level crafter who doesn't have the high end resources will be the only one not crafting out perfect items. It may not be this extreme for all items, but it's the wrong way to go...

As a crafter, I don't want an "I Win" button. As a consumer, I want to see variety in the marketplace - not a bunch of items that are all perfect.

New crafters dont have a chance anyway unless they buy their way in with a ton of creds. My scatters are 28% base and will see a big boost from this. What makes you think someone using a resource that is lesser than mine and gives them 26% base will be able to equal mine?
The main thing for me is - I am not going to be hitting 100% with everything so there will still be room for improvement - that would have been the worst end result if the 10% had gone live.
I could not see myself continuing WS if I knew I have reached the pinnacle and would never get any better.
All the other things, like the resources that I have spent months and months gathering or the fact that I could not distinguish myself etc - although important were secondary issues.
2% is still a lot when every point counts - but I can live with it.
I am glad the Devs heard our concerns, and as I said before thanks Mor'dan.
