Thread: Does anyone else hate the word Uber besides me?
Yes yes, the word "uber" is outa control. Just yesterday I had a newb(or at least he acted like one)/tell ask me if I have any Uber in stock. My reply: Uber what?
His reply: um..uber
my reply: Uh, uber what?!?!
his reply: Just uber, it's kinda obvious you don't have one in stock.
my reply: Um...Uber isn't an Item in itself.....
his reply: sry, didn't mean to bother you
/ignore
Lmao this jack*ss acctually thaught "Uber" was a item by itself. Thats the type of chaos and social disarray this word is bringing on the world of SWG....if not chaos and disarray it's good wholsome comic entertainment.![]()

I'd say this is a good addition for the thread "question you don't ask a weaponsmith". Please repost it there... "Do you have an uber in stock?" loool
my beef is that it is German for the word "Over" which does not mean elite or anything close to the context they use it.
"Hey can you make me an Over rifle?" .. doesnt quite work does it? Uber is a preposition.. try substituting other prepositions trying to wedge them into the role of an adjective...
"Hey can you make me a Beside Sonic Blaster?"
"Hey I hear you have Around Weapons!"
just because its in another language does not make it correct regardless of the use. For a perfect example of this go to www.engrish.com and see all the signs in japan written poorly using english. In fact it is their culture of 'english letters look cool' that brought most of this on. Noone actually reads their signs and many have been disgusted to discover just what that t-shirt said they were wearing etc.
infact I'd be more receptive to Wonderbar (german for wonderful) if they insist on using cross-over words. At least it would work in a sentance.

Here's a word I like to use instead of Uber, "Powerfull" ![]()
I know it's so Old-English a word these days....
I put Uber on my list of "Most Annoying Dumbsh*t Words Ever Invented" Right under Ergonomic..
"I want to be uber so I'll own everyone"
"I'll own with master BH"
"you think it's a good idea to go TKM/COMMANDO (TKM/RIFLEMAN, or TKM/CM -impossible btw-, or MHS/RIFLEMAN etc...) like they never read bout those templates before)
or I like situations like that:
I know a few shops where I can find very good weapons, so I say in guild chat "hey I found a weapon (pistol/rifle etc..) with (great) stats"
-"how much, I want it"
-"3millions"
-"oh"
I like new players, really, and I think we were all like that at a time (what ? oh yea my first profession was CH/pistoleer). but I just think it's getting worse lately.
I too hate it
especially when you log on and get tells and e-mails saying "can you make me an uber <insert random weapon here>"

Do I like useing the word, but it is part of the lexicon in the game now. Is there a better word any of you can think of that dosent sound corny. Super sounds right out of a comic book. Great is mundane. Fantastic makes you sound queer. No offense gay guys. Awesome sounds like your half baked. Stellar sounds like it would fit, but then again it also sounds like it belongs on american idol. Unworldly might get you banned sounds like you cheated somehow, as does unbeleivable. Godlike gets you marked as a heretic. Epic sounds like you have lost touch with reality. Nice sounds like you are going to go pick flowers with it. Terrible will confuse people. Gnarley is worse then epic. Groovy sounds like your on acid. Supreme sounds arrogant. Top of the line is to telemarketer. Over the top is so much hyperbole. Legendary is already used. Excellent is vague. Dominateing sounds well like something michael jackson does with children. Insane crazy makes you sound insane crazy.
Here is a good word or term we can use flawless. Makes alot of sense. Flawless being the best one could get. So your near flawless. Far from flawless, or flawless. As we have seen from uber if you use the word enough people start to use it then have no choice in the matter.

Words often have a precise meaning but it is apparently unfashionable to remember them.
