Post CU stocks can get to -25
Pre-CU stocks (at least mine) are -20 sac, 0.0 speed

it just seems like a huge advantage to have 85% and 100% experimentation when the best I can do with the best resources and all the fixings is 86% and 70% experimentation (efficiency and speed)
Yeah, it is an advantage. But I only have 10 or so crates of those that I save for special orders. Contrast those 10 crates vs. the (litterally) 100's of crates of components that turned to trash during the CU that had to be replaced, then the replacements becameobsolete 3 weeks later when they re-figured the crafting system. I've burned2 resource kits to replace all those components since the CU. I may have the stocks, but I'd trade them to have all those trashed components back.
Not to mention the huge stashes of unusable pre CU Krayt Tissues, Gorax Shards, Pastes and geocubes, scythe schematics, APBH with tissues that all converted with lousy stats even if very nice tissues were used. Millions upon millions worth of Enhanced and Unenhanced weaponry that turned out mediocre. All in all I lost more than 100mill worth of stuff with the CU (and Im still finding more that is unusable every day, so I havent added it all up yet).

I was one of the people asking for a fix on the stocks when they added +40 min and max damage aswell, as that would've truly been unbalancing, but the small speed boost you get from the pre cu stock now I believe is a fair reward for veteran smiths that stuck through the CU
stocks aside, everyone lost in the CU. Everyone. Not just weaponsmiths. And the stocks are not the only difference between pre and post ws's. Resources are a huge advantage. That and your knowledge and experience should be your only advantages for being a pre CU ws. The stocks are extra. Everyone is losing crap left and right ever since the CU and they aren't getting "Extra"
and its not like you didn't have warning that everything was changing with the CU. Any smart ws could have minimized their losses.
exactly my thoughts as well

And I'm sure 30 other professions are asking where their reward is.
exactly how much of a speed difference do these stocks make?
preCU : 0.0 -20
postCU : 1.1 -25 (my server)
im not using the preCU for doublecapping tho(unless maybe on carbs)
oh, and i haven't made some -20 yet. should be around 0.7 then (a guess)
so maybe half a second to a second advantage. but i have use for the -25's..
what the other profs are waiting for i cannot say, especiall the crafters. i think we got the bat quite hard tho
And as far as those rewards for the 30 other profs, here's just a few..
Pre-CU Jedi sabers are far superior to Post-CU sabers.
Pre-CU Armorsmith Enhancers (Scales, etc.) all converted to be far superior to Post-CU enhancers.
Pre-CU Ubese shirts/Mabari Belts have sockets, Post ones don't.
Pre-CU slicing components (WUKs & AUKs) can be converted to the new looted ones.
I'm sure there's more, but it's not as though everyone other than weaponsmiths lost it all in the CU.

Only 10% of the speed of the stock will apply to the final item, so shift the decimal left one place and that's the difference the stock will make during the final build.
QFE. People seem to keep missing this and wind up overemphasizing component speed.
One other thing -- looted stocks are quite useful for custom weapons where SAC is not important. For example, an advance laser rifle made for a non-rifleman.
29dmg is not worth 25 SAC
