While I've never used the spreadsheet, Tempest is fortunate to have our own Resource Co-operative at enactive.org/swg.

While this level of co-operation is commendable, I reckon (only my opinion, of course!) that the effort would be better spent trying to co-ordinate a group of people to keep the SWGCraft.com database up-to-date. The Jenner/Fooman tool has to be used to be believed - took me some time before I got into using it, and I cringe to think how much I must have missed before!

I've tried to organise a wee SWGCraft.com updating roster at this site (no bells or whistles!) for my own server, and it's been moderately successful. Since people signed up, there's definitely been an increase in SWGCraft.com database updates, and consequently an improvement in the quality of the data that is used to power the Jenner/Fooman tool.

If you've not used this tool before, I'd seriously urge you to try it out (assuming you've got MS Excel). The one schlepp is noting down all the names, classes and stats of all your existing resources and typing them into the spreadsheet. Only needs to be done once, of course - details for any new resources can be lifted from the SWG XML output.

Aethal Sar, Weaponsmith. Retired from game - probably missing it already!

Yeah, this is what I do as well. I can always see what the server-best spawn for any given material is (for us anyway) so it's cake to determine if I should be mining the new spawn or sticking to the old. Only takes about 4 seconds with a calculator to work it out. I dunno, guess I'm just old school. I'm sure the spreadsheet is a great tool, to me it's just not that hard a decision for most resources. Probably because I've been doing it so long.

Honestly, that's my favorite part of the Enactive site. It is a complete history of every single resource that has spawned on Tempest since last October.

Maybe I'll check out the spreadsheet and see what the hubbub is all about. Just seems like a lot of work to put in all that resource data for it to tell me what I already know. =)

Looks cool, but with no way to import your resources, there is no way in hell I am re-entering over 200 types just to try it out.

There is a "custom import" function, but I have no idea what what format of the file is.

And entering the resources really wasn't that bad. I did it over the course of a week. I really like being able to easily swap different resources in the schematics to see the effect they'll have on the completed item. And I like that the SWGCraft analyzer lets me know what that uber new resource will be going into, so that I know whether to bother harvesting it. For example, the new Carbonite Steel on Chilastra is a whopping 12 points better than what I've already got, and I can see at a glance it's only going into the Adv. Chem Dispursion mechanism.

Because of SWG Manager, I'm now able to craft as a Weaponsmith, Doctor and Chef (multiple 'toons). Without it, there's no way I'd be able to keep track of that large a resource list.

Thankfully I'm also on Tempest; I took one look at swgcraft and thought "gee, how useless, there's a bunch of stuff here that only spawned.... 2months ago!" I wasn't gonna take the time to sort through that much chaff, so I continued muddling through, likely missing great spawns on other planets. Then I heard about www.enactive.org/swg, nice and easy to sort through, kept nicely up to date by the like of FelKel and others, where I was quickly able to tell what specific resource I should be scouring vendors for, and where the current spawn ranked. My resource bank has been improved hugely since then.

Went back to swgcraft, yup, still have 2 month old resources 'active.' Oh, and I only use 1 tool.... my brain.

Well...SWG-craft's "temporarily disabled" recent resources button allowed you to view only the most recent resources. Which is why I miss it so much

OMG you ppl r lame, I have one walked for thousands of meters thru desolate wastelands in search of the perfect resource/spawn location. It's kinda sad when its extemely easy now-a-days to use 1.) a shuttle from a player city 2.) a vehicle 3.) the auction tab.

It was a nice idea for a site like that, but for people like yourself to ONLY use it to find spawns and NEVER contribute to it by searching on your own is lame and degrades the whole weaponsmith community.

I'm not going to call anyone lame because that would be rude.

Doing it the old fashioned way, taking a walk or a ride through the woods to find the stuff you need has been an enjoyable component to the game. I enjoy the challenge and I get to see and experience a few things that I would have missed by staying in the lab.

It's not a big deal that SWGcraft is not working. It's nice to have it but it's not a need.

I'm trying to get into weaponsmith but without swg craft, things can get frustrating.....I'm on a brand new server so I didn't really know what the previous spawns were. I have a general idea of what is par for the course becuase I've looked at resource caps and talked to a couple established smiths. But nothing is more annoying than dropping 1 mil on an oldresource to find out there's some 20 points better on some randomguys vendor for 3 cpu. Of course sometimes I can sell the worse resource for minimal loss, but still..... I miss swgcraft's resource history!

Um...how?

SWGCraft doesn't list the location of spawns, just what material has spawned. So we're all tromping around surveying for a great location for harvesters. So we're all doing what you say makes you "uber-leet" in your previous post.
