Hi, I have a couple questions about weapon repair. I understand anyone can do it with the right tool, but do weaponsmiths have a better chance to succeed? When should a weapon be repaired? What's the risk? Thanks for any information.---Feck, Bothan Nooob

I don't know if anyone hasdone a valid test ofsuccess rate of weaponsmith vs non, but weaponsmiths cause much less condition loss on successful repairs.

You should repair around 1/3. Weapons lose damage when below ~200 condition so get them fixed before that. There doesn't seem to be any decrease in success rate on lower-condition weapon so repairing sooner will just give you more condition loss and more chances of crap repairs and crit fails.

Thanks for the info. I guess it all boils down to whether or not you can live without that last third, if it fails.--Feck, Bothan Nooob

that's an interesting question.. Im a master weaponsmith and I don't really have any problems with weapon repair but I tell ya I can't repair armor to save my life.. even with a 99% repair kit I still blow up armor 4 outta 5 times.

Armorsmiths fix armor like we fix weapons. Same goes for tailors and clothing.

Howdy;

Yeah - took the Wep Repairs off my vendor after replacing a few gronked weapons and figure that you Need to be a WS for a true repair warranty - only lose about 50ish durability and haven't lost a weapon in a long time no matter the damage. <-- Of course with that brag my next 3 will be losers I expect, heh.

Also cautioned the folks who had already bought rep kits. Only had to buy one back so it is a tossup to if actually need to be or not. My money atm is on YES though.

This is screwed in a sense if you really think about it tho - If I charge the standard 1K for a repair - what stops me from using a crappy kit and selling a new weapon to the poor bloke. Like much of this galaxy = it is a good idea to stay with Known Good Deals and folks you have had dealings with that you trust, heh.

I was going to start a thread on this but it seems at home here.

I am a master WS using 99.2 repair kits. A very nice (and understanding) fellow asked me to repair 2 two-handed swords for him. I give him the disclaimer "Please know that there is a chance for failure and i am not responsible for destroyed weapons", and proceed to destroy the first. He is understanding, very nice fellow and on the second i get only minor blemishes. Super, I /apo for the destroyed one no charge oon either repair

He /tells me later that in fact both were destroyed but its no prob, he was just letting me know. I confirm in the system log and yup, only one destroyed, one minor blemishes. He swears up and down that the max damage on the minor blemished one has been reduced by half!!! WTH? Why would a perfect repair result in a fudged max damage?

This happen alot? I feel so bad about it even though the customer was very understanding

Thanks for any input

Isana

P.S. Anyone have a link to tell me how to make a nice baner for my signature? =)

Weapons lose damage when they drop below ~200 condition. Sometimes it comes back whenrepaired, sometimes it doesn't.

Do weapon smiths repair weapons any better than a master artisian with the same repair kit quality .If they are better than a master artisian what skill helps with increased repair effectiveness please? experimentation maybe?
