Thread: Question about weapon repair
What is the deal with weapon repair. I just repaired3 or my weapons. One was like 600/800 and it evaporated. The others had about 10% damage but took about 25% hit in condition when repairing. Gosh that is a bit harsh.
It almost seems pointless to repair the weapon. Seems like I would have been better off running the weapon into the ground.
Are there things I can do to avoid damage to the weapon? I hear powerups damage the weapon? What about death while weapon is equipped?
If there is a stick post for this please direct me to the correct location.
Thanks
This is exactly the reason why I don't use Krayt weapons myself anymore. WAY too much cost to go into having a weapon disappear or lose half of its effectiveness on repair. So, now either I make my own weapons or buy them from someone and use them until they fall apart. It's just not worth it to repair them...at all.

Problem #1. Why are you repairing it so soon? You will always lose some condition on it, so at least wait until it's about 50% or below. That way you don't waste a gun completely.
I've had great success repairing weapons. I always do repairs next to my crafting station or with my droid out (with a crafting station) that seems to help. 80% of the time I get what seems to be the best result "minor blemish" which reduces the max condtiion by 50 points. I've destroyed a couple of weapons but that is pretty rare between 5-10% in my experience. I use 98.8% functionality tools and I also have a weapon repair skill tape +1.
Repairing at just over 50% remaining condition appears to be the optimal time. I have not noticed a difference between top quality guns and "junk" gun when it comes to repair success rate but it seems logical that the weapon's complexity, when originally crafted, would have an effect on the outcome.

chances are its gonna break, just buy a new one and repair them around 50% damage for longer life

I'm sorry but that is simplynot the case.
When first getting into repairs I used to recommend people fix their stuff at around 50% as logic would dictate. How ever, it usually ended up that the gun would repair to a significantly lowe condition, not much above the condition it was in.
I found that my most stunning successes were on stuff that was <100 or even <50 where 9/10 times I'd repair to full original condition with minor blemishes. I've also found this works for armour (although that was perhaps sheer luck).
As far as pricing goes, I ask for tips (a tool costs me 15units of copper) and usually get the price I would have goten for the gun had I been selling it. It is nice to be able to provide this service as people get attached to their guns and swords...

Incorrect to a degree. I make 99.8 repair tools and rarely break a weapon. I recently brought a T21 back from a condition of 42 all the way to 805 (minor blemishes). I also repaired a DX2 from 64 to 854. A very good repair tool (usually made from polysteel copper thatfrequently has very good conductivity) makes a huge difference in the success (or lack thereof) of a repair. Things do seem to get riskier when weapons are allowed to slip below 500, but there is really no downside to attempting a repair on a weapon with a condition below 200 if you use a high quality repair tool. The weapon won't last much longer if left unrepaired anyway.
