second - yes customers ask stupid questions but it's because they're not WS - some of them have never crafted before. would I get mad if a newbie with a rifle asks me what does strafe 2 do? of course not. And if I don't ask what the gun components are and how can I make a better gun how would I know what loot to collect?
- Ok, while I have been known to go off on rants before on these boards, it's been very rare...esp as of late. But, I think this one deserves it. I'll try to stay as civilized as I can tho. I appologize in advance if I offend anyone.

Ok, I've been in this game for a LONG time. Since late august of last year. I know what it's like to be a newbie. I know what it's like not to know a thing about what you are doing. Yes, I did have a few people help me thru things. But, a lot of this game is common sense.

Now, to get to the core of your questions/statements. A lot of these stupid questions could be completely avoided in-game (making WS's life A LOT better) if the newbies would come to our board, post a question or two..or even read the FAQ. Now, I know FAQ's can be tought to read at times, and that's fine. So, gather a group of newb questions or ask a few.

I'll go and admit that I posted a thread on the Artisan board back in the first week or two of the game asking for a quick how-to on the process of crafting. That's a n00b question, but someone who actually cared to answer could...and at their leisure.

I have TONS of other questions about other professions. Like, what kinds of BE tissues can be put into what certain clothing. Well, rather than pestering a tailor in-game, I jump on the boards, hit up the tailor boards, and search thru an FAQ. If I can't find it in the FAQ, I'll ask. If it's one of my professions, I'll just ask. If it's another profession that I honestly have ZERO knowledge about, I'll try to hit up their FAQ first. It's really not that difficult. Honestly. And, as we all know, if you can play the game, then you can surf the boards.

So, no, I'm not expecting all the newbs to know everything there is to know about weapon crafting, rare loot items, how many it takes to make such and such weapon, etc. But, what I would expect from a newb is an intelligent question to me based on prior information they received from doing their own research.

I wouldn't ask ANY MORE of any of the SWGers than I would be willing to do myself. So, do I expect newbs to know everything about weapon crafting? Absolutely not. Do I expect them to do their own research first before coming to me to ask a more specific weapon question? Absolutely. If you're not willing to do the pre-research, then you're just being lazy. Period.

Oh, and from what I read, it's truly amazing just how little people seem to listen to us. Don't you think a seasoned weaponsmith would know more about weapons crafting that someone who has never done it before? Even WS grinders.

For example. I was grinding architect at one time. I found an architect who happened to also be a master architect and asked him to make a crafting tool or two for me. On the way to pick up the tools, I asked him, "Do you have any resources I can buy from you?" He replied, "No, I dont' deal in resource supply, but contact so and so." I asked, "Do you think she can handle another customer." He replied, "Oh yeah, I think she should be able to help you out."

Off goesa tell from me to the resource supplier. Problem solved. If a crafter says that he/she doesn't have any grinding materials to sell you, listen to them and find your own resource supplier. Just surf your galaxy trade forum, and I bet that w/in 15 minutes, you can get coords to two or three BULK grind quality resource suppliers.

It's kinda sad how little people want to do any kind of actual footwork and research. They want everything now now now. I'm not trying to be a jerk or an elitist. I'm just sick of people who aren't willing to pull their own weight.

I'm sorry to say that I'm guilty of making extreme demands on weaponsmiths in the past. Likecrafting over a hundred krayt tissues into scatter pistols and FWG5s the night before they were nerfed. In hind sight i must have seemed like an a$$. I evenasked Biggens up there. As far as the crazyquestions you get all I have to say is WOW, I'm happy not to be in your shoes. But I've learned and used this forum and many of the other profession forums to increase my underestanding of other professions. I havecertainly found it more constructive and beneficial to do so before making my requests to my favorite crafters. Anyways great thread, although it's light hearted, even some of us game veterans find posts like this informative and better for the community.

Anian, I agree 100% with everything you said. The most frustrating thing about the questions is that a lot of them could be answered by the individual asking it if they would take 5 minutes and look for the answer themselves. The resource thing gets old as well. I've been stockpiling stuff for 7 or 8 months. Do people honestly think I'm going to give them a stack of amazing resources?

It all boils down to simple laziness.

I tried by-passing requests by putting up above "HomeMaker" Then dressed in Composite Armor, this way no one would ask me anything. Now I get "Can you make me a small Corelian home?" I follow with "No, I just make theCurtains"

Anian, I couldn't agree with you more. I recently decided to start another character, combat oriented. I wanted to do swordsman because it sounded like it would be fun, and I wanted enough doctor skills to give myself decent buffs. Before I bought another account though I hit up all the relevant profession boards and read their FAQ's, then read through some of the threads that sounded like they would have good information related to what I wanted to do. I learned pretty much everything I needed to know without having to post one newb-ish question. I even checked into fencer and TKA, just to make sure I wasn't missing something by going Swordsman. The information is out there, you just have to be willing to make an effort to get it.

Slim Vargo, Corbantis

Edit: By reading up on Doctors I also found out they go through a lot of the same sh*t we do whentheysellbuffs, only it'sworse for thembecause of the nature of their line of work (i.e. they can't sell buffs through vendors)and because they have to worry about bank tip scammers.

I went to grab some soup this morning. The guy in line in front of me asked -- I couldn't believe my ears -- "what's your best soup?" Seriously, I wanted to /bonk him! They're all good, ya git! No soup for you!

I mind when they ask for the best weapon in a CLASS. Like "what's the best carbine?" There's no answer to this question.

When I get this I counter with asking "How long is a piece of string?".

How they answer determines if I bother discussing situational combat.

Nearly wet myself reading this stuff. I was feeling nostalgic for weaponsmith, and considered a return to the profession. Thanks for reminding me why I left it. Great stuff. Truly.
