Thread: Questions you NEVER ask a weaponsmith...
Message Edited by Turd_Ferguson523 on 01-04-2005 06:29 AM
Customer: Can you make me a (weapon)?
Me: Sure, but I don't carry any of my stuff on me. I'll have to head back to my shop.
Customer: Oh, well I'm an (insert master crafter besides Weaponsmith), so I have just about every resource. What do you need?
Me: Well I need power blaster handles and a blaster rifle barrel in addition to resources.
This is the part that always makes me laugh.
Customer: .....Oh, I don't have any of those.
I just think the whole conversation is great, because it's happened the same way everytime. The only thing that I can't understand about it is, if they've mastered a crafter profession (and I'm assuming in most cases they arn't hologrinders, otherwise they wouldn't have all these special materials) shouldn't they know that there are components besides resources involved? Thank god for customers though, they are so entertaining.
Seen spamming corolag a few weeks ago :
Geezer- Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Me gets email : I need good pistols.
Me replies : Go on, give me a clue, which ones you want
Geezer- Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Geezer - Shouts : I need good pistols
Me gets email : I need good pistols.
etc.
Noob: Can you sell me a Krayt <insert gun here> for 5000 credits?
Me: Can I do your mom for free?
Stupid questions deserve stupid answers.
I do get the occasional "whats the best <insert weapon here> you can make"
I just tell em the stats and they either go on there way, or I send em to my vendor.
I don't mind if they ask me for a specific weapon. I mind when they ask for the best weapon in a CLASS. Like "what's the best carbine?" There's no answer to this question. It's moronic. Not only is "the best" weapon in a class heavily dependent on personal preference, it's also partly based on character skill level (and 99.9% of the time, I don't know the person asking the question from Adam).

It's also heavily dependent on the situation and what they're fighting. For myself, I carry six pistols: pre-nerf FWG5 (my workhorse), krayt republic (back-up workhorse), striker pistol, geo sonic blaster, D-18 experimented for accuracy, and an enhanced DX-2. Flexibility is a good thing, and I like the idea that my toon has six pistols secreted on his body. Too bad we don't have holsters. ![]()
Slim Vargo, Corbantis
Also a good point, Slim. The "best" weapon is also heavily dependent on what you're fighting.

some people just cant grasp the fact that certain weapons take certain components
i had a guy once ask me to make him a t21 with some components he had
"sure, what do you have?"
"oh just some components i looted that look good, can you help me?"
"aye no problem, come to my workshop and i'll see what i can do"
10 mins later...
"ok, you said you wanted a t21?"
"yes please"
"a t21 as in the rifle?"
"yes"
"and you want me to use this component?"
"yes"
"sorry, i cant help you"
"really, why not?"
"because that's a pistol barrel"
How about some RL favor for you guys:
My former roommate now works at a Galyan's sporting goods store at the firearms counter. During his first week there he gets a customer asking about the "most powerful" handgun that they sold. Rather than pointing him towards the magnum revolvers (.40 caliber?), my friend gave the customer a long look and then started totelling him aboutmuzzle velocities. Apparently the customer tried to BS his way through that conversation, then did a 180 by saying "nevermind".
I laughed at that story until my friend told me the guy ended up buying a shotgun instead. Then I was afraid for humankind. ![]()
