dont dabble in crafting profs, its a waste of SP

After reading the first 2 pages, I am kinda feeling like I'm lucky. Only a few times have I been asked "Can I get some of your fastest vibro knucklers?" or "Can I get a rreally high damage power hammer?" in my time. I specialize in melee, so I guess that makes me a bit less busy. I always enjoyed the idea that I didn't put my best stuff up for sale, that you had to ask for it. The thing I get most is the scythe question, and it started out tough for people to understand they needed a schem. Most people now at least know that much, so I can just explain to them the concept of yellow cubes and solidifying agents, which I don't expect them to really understand unless they have done weaponsmith since the scythes came out. The hard part is getting them to understand how much of each they need for their 2 scythes, because not everyone understands the idea od "one for the schematic, 2 for the cores" right off the bat. It's nothing that common sense would dictate though, like a WS selling his *gasp* best stuff so he gets business. I do get the odd reaction when I tell people I don't make guns though, as if I just told them I would gladly jump into a pit with 5 krayt dragons and 5 Nightsister elders, all waiting to get a shot at me.

*Master Weaponsmith title on* Can you make me some/repair my armor? I get this at LEAST 5 times daily.

man I wish I had more time to read this entire thread.... but I retire in about 40 years... Guys this is great stuff.

I never have had master weaponsmith in my title.... I have only been a lowly surveyor, yet they still find me. I have my workshop 1400m away from my vendor and have no vendors in my workshop at all atm. Of course whenever I make a custom weapon I usually get the question " Where is your vendor? I dont see it" or they always go to my workshop after I have made them a weapon looking for a vendor even after I have sent them a well marked wp via email. I even color coded them differently.

Of course I get the standard questions...

Cust: " I have a krayt tissue... can you make me an uber {INSERT T-21 or any weapon needing 3 or more tissues}?"

me: "How many tissues do you have?"

Cust: "Just the one... It says 4%"

me: "No, sorry I am all out of my Gnort Pearls. Contact me in a week and I may have some more. Although, please contact as many smiths as you can to see if any have Gnort Pearls."

me: /addignore Cust

and then here...

Cust: "hey"

me: "hey"

Cust: " I need a {insert any weapon},but I want lowest ham possible"

me:"ok I can do that..."

Cust: " I dont care about the speed, but it has to have good damge"

me:"well you know that damage and speed are the same experimentation"

Cust:"I want a scope/stock on it also"

me:"that will increase the ham cost "

Cust: "that is ok, you can just make it slower then..."

me: "No, sorry I am all out of my Gnort Pearls. Contact me in a week and I may have some more. Although, please contact as many smiths as you can to see if any have Gnort Pearls."

me: /addignore Cust

wash rinse repeat 20 times per hour.

and of course...

Cust: "hey, I have some solidfing agents for you to make me an uber {insert any ranged weapon}"

Cust "hello?"

Cust:"how many agents do I need?"

Cust: "hello?"

Recently I've been getting this a lot:

Me: I can make a T21, but good resources haven't spawned in the 2 months I've been MasterWS, so it won't be very good. But my Laser Rifles are REALLY good.

Unless you're fighting something with heavy armour, why would you wanna use something slower than my commando's stuf? I suspect his advice came from a Master Rifleman who PvPs a lot.

m well that is truely a fine gun you do not find a dh17 pistol at 1.9 speed 96 144 danage too often scoped with a plus fifty at 25. I think it is worth three thousand.

Go back to my crafting station determined to make a point about how good that gun is that he says aint worth it. Use all basic components unscoped, and made from some truely horrible cubirian steel. That I was useing to grind for the psg tree of armor. Come back to the showroom with a real peice of junk.

Purchase complete I bow and go back to crafting. Email a minute later the guy buys the good gun. What I expected he would do. Later that day I check my vendors for sale count stockroom offers. Whats this someone has offered me a gun. Made by me. Thats right the gun I sold him for two thousand now on my vendor for sale at three thousand. Okay this is really stupid. Ofcoarse I am going to object to it. Asside from it being a peice of junk he is chargeing more then Isold it for. Hit reject. a minute later a tell.

c why wont you buy the gun I put for sale on your vendor.

m because one you charged more for it then I sold it to you for two its a peice of junk three I sell guns do not buy them

m Yeah its complete garbage the only people who would buy it are noobs that are desperate for anything better then what they got. Garbage takes just as many resources as gold. That is why you paid what you did for it. That is the value of the resources used to make it.

m no the resources and time in it are worth what I charged. The gun aint worth buying, because it is garbage.

m Oh really let me see here I tell you the good gun costs 3 thousand no less. You ask me to make a nonadvanced weapon that is garbage. I comply and sell it for two k then you buy the good gun and try to sell me the crap at fifty percent profit.

m now you must think I am a moron, and are ticked because I am not you were trying to rob me by what is in effect makeing a three k gun cost two k. Have a nice day welcome to my ignore box.

second - yes customers ask stupid questions but it's because they're not WS - some of them have never crafted before. would I get mad if a newbie with a rifle asks me what does strafe 2 do? of course not. And if I don't ask what the gun components are and how can I make a better gun how would I know what loot to collect?

ohh and something else - you get insulted when somebody doesn't trust but just think about it - what insurance do I have that when I hand you 1 mil worth of looted components you won't just log out? I mean everybody can become a master WS - it's a freaking macro probably - even a 12 year old can do it if determined enough. Just think of it this way - I don;t mistrust you in particular I mistrust every stranger I see.- and yeah unless the whole server knows your name - you're a stranger

there's alot wrong with what you posted, take your comment on the flushing shot, now expect to get it 4 times a night plus 5 tells concerning covershot and another 2 concerning crafting armor, THEN you might START to understand what its like. we enjoy making weapons, we enjoy the competative market, we enjoy hearing compliments about our craft, we feel rewarded with both creds and compliments, but there is all this other junk that people pile onto us, just try it for a day, then well talk.

dont trust the smith your giving the loot too? fine! dont bother them with your requests! go be a WS yourself or make friends with one! or even better you could join a guild, ask who the weaponsmith is, then send him a mail within the first 10min of joining!
