"Rather than have us rely on weapons which do a different damage type, give us a debuff restraint attack (headlock, armlock, etc etc) which whilst active turns all further attacks into a different damage type (eg Stun or Restraint). This could be combined with pinning and holding the target, giving to-hit bonuses and preventing them from escaping until the effect wore off."

Not to nitpick, but how exactly do you put a Rancor in a headlock?

I'm not sure how this will fly with alot of my fellow TK's, but here's my ideas:

1) Revamp the Power line with different specials. Keep the dizzy, get rid of the combo attacks. I've read that many of you do not use them for various reasons and the HAM cost for themisn't all that and a bag of chips either. Replace them with a restraint attack and then a bleed. Or possibly 2 restraints, progressing in power as you go and leaving the bleed for MTKA (Which sounds better to me, but hey, it's just an opinion, right?)

2) If we have restraints, let them be against humanoid targets. I agree with the fellow TK's who argue the point of mandhandling a Rancor. I wouldn't quit but I'd be rather disappointed.

3) Other types of VK's. I can see the point of both camps in the wanting new damage types, but at the same time, I'm doing well with just doing kinetic damage. I'm not going to lie about this: I don't PVP. This may change the game for others if there were other types of damage, but as for me, I am only interested in PVE. I'll let others who know more on the PVP topics handle that.

4) Is Dizzy going to be fixed against creatures? If this has been addressed on a different thread, please disregard this part of my post. But if it hasn't, why do people seem to think that because a creature has 4 (or more) legs, that it's sense of balance is any better?

5) Mr. Heavy, keep up the great job!

As I said in my post... Make it so you could only restrain humanoids...

As I also said.. The day I see a TKA put a Rancor in a headlock is the day I quit

Restraints/locks should only be usable against PCs and humanoid NPCs, but they'd certainly even the odds against (for example) nightsister types, and composite armour wearing kiters

Ok I'll chip in my 2 cents as to "why" we should get a damage type.

It's simple. We are the only combat profession that is limited to a single damage type which limits us against some of the games high end content. Despite having the highest toughness I'm useless if a group decides to take on a giant peko peko albatross.

The options are to either deal with it or pick up another combat profession with my remaining 158 points. Also in my opinion that is an answer I'm prepared to deal with since I made the choice to be a TKA.

Personally I would like to see the devs views on what they would do to compensate for giving us an additional damage type.

In other words what nerf they would slap us with to balance us out with a new damage type

As to what damage type I don't care. If it's stun however the knuckles should be VERY slow since stun knuckles at our current speed and damage output would be far too overpowering.

Of course if I had MY say we would get AP3 stun/heat/kinetic/energy/cold/acid weapons. . . but that's just me

I'm probably going to be repeating what alot of others have already said, but here goes:

First a quick summary....

Advantages of Teras Kasi: Only combat class to be able to buff and heal their ownwounds.Great damage, verynice speed.

Disadvantages of Teras Kasi: High ham cost. One damage type. No DoT.

Now that that's said, why should we get a new damage type?

Other than jedi, we are the only ones who are stuck with just one type of damage, and even jedi have special attacks that allow them to do different damage types. I feel that restraint(yes, I read most of the previous posts and I, too, am sick of hearing about this damage type) would be apretty baddamage type to give us. The only way it could be implemented would be by giving TKAs a new special move or a new weapon(such as a simple chain or kusarigama, a chain with a sickle attached to it). Personally, I wouldn't mind the new weapon, but I doubt either the weapon or the new move would be accepted by very many people. I also don't see stun being a damge type we will get unless it comes in a fist-wearable cross between a stun baton and vibroknucklers. It would have to be rather weak, comparatively, since, as has been pointed out, most creatures/NPCs/people are vulnerable to stun damage.

A type of damage I can see us having is electrical. Ok, ok. I know....just hear me out. This would require a new weapon, something like a stun gun. It would be slower with no armor rating but might have a chance to stun the target(not do stun damage, but simply stun the target) in addition to using the same moves as a vibroknuckler.

I also think we should get a DoT attack. There are two possibilities here that I see. The first is poison. give TKAs the ability to put poison in their vibroknucklers. We would have to get it ourselves, you couldn't just go out and buy it. Like someone said earlier, maybe sarlaacc digestive juice or spider venom. The strength would vary and it would 'reset' like most resources(we can stockpile it, even though we can't sell it) but each creature would always have a minimum-maximum value for it's poison. For instance, any spider from Dathomir will always have far more deadly poison that even the most powerful arachnid from Naboo. Once the poison is loaded into our vibroknucklers, we can use a new special attack to 'squirt' it out at our target from maybe 15-20m(probably less than that, since we are a MELEE class. Most likely, about 8-10m). Of course, the poison would run out eventually(5 shots?) and have to be refilled. The other DoT choice is to give us something close to Dim Mak, amysticalability from Kung Fu, if I am not mistaken. This would be like a commando's flame attacks, causing damage when applied, but making the target bleed rather than catch on fire.

Thanks for listening to what I had to say

Keep the VK's in game for people who like them and keep them AR1 and Kinetic.

Change bare fisted unarmed attacks to Stun damage at AR0.

If you had on a football helmet and I kicked you in the head, you won't get cut or sliced, but you'd sure be stunned and have a headache.

STUN STUN STUN....

Its either kinetic or stun... cause seriously... I'm completely against getting another weapon. Its the only other damage type that anybody could justify rationally.

So I can hear the arguements now - "Almost everything is vulnerable to stun... bla.. bla.. blah."

I say "Whatever." Thats aflaw in the combat system - but there is a way around this.

Make the the stun damage operate at 2/3 damage. Its like pulling your punches.

Orwe can have 2 damage modifiers - so our skill boxes in precision striking would look somethign like this:

+15 Unarmed Attack Speed

+15 Unarmed Kinetic Damage

+10 Unarmed Stun Damage

That I think is really the only way we could get an appropriate damage type without making it overpowering.

To tie this in to something that was suggested in the "what do we want TKAs to be?" thread--what if variant damage types were tied in to pool-specific moves? So, for example, perhaps the body hit is AP1, the action hit is restraint damage (AP0), and the mind hit is stun damage (AP0)? Maybe make them lower powered than they otherwise would be. So now there's a secondary constraint on both the pool hits and on the variant damage hits--if we *need* to hit the action pool, we have no choice but to use restraint, and if we *need* to use restraint, we have no choice but to attack the action pool.

This would likely have to be carefully balanced, but it provides an interesting control on both the power of having all three pool hits and on the power of having multiple damage types. Sure, you've got 'em, but they won't always be as useful as you'd like, so you have to think about when you're using them.

There is one huge flaw that I haven't stumbled across looking though this post.. but that flaw is the fact that TKA get a bonus damage mod. All other stun weapons in the game have basically the most pathetic DPS there is. If you just take the 250 (think its 250) bonus damage you get and turn it to stun damage, you're already using a weapon more than twice the damage as any other stun dealing weapon.

Dont believe me? Pick up a tangle pistol

I'm not a TKM, and never be one, but I have fought with them and here is my thought -

At master, a tk does a lot more damage unarmed than a blademaster with their best weapon -- so now you want to do more damage and get a stun weapon too?Guess we should just delete the Fencer prof eh?

I know you guys have problems, like CoB and defensive acuity not working, but come on! Lack of bleeds and damage type IS YOUR INTENDED DRAWBACK!

Hell, why should I care. Guess if you get stun or restraint weapons I will just get on the fencer board and cry for us to get a meditation line, no? I think I would also like more +accuracy and +speed like you guys too

Boatillo: Don't forget that we're talking (at least some of us) in terms of something after the massive combat rebalance changes. There's a lot of possibility of change there--which is to say, I don't expect any profession to be as much "on top" of other professions. So there's a very real chance that, say, if our damage output was reduced across the board, some variety in damage types might be an interesting thing to add. My own *personal* idea (and I know that a lot of people disagree with this) is that we should be lower damage output than any other melee profession, with good defenses and a large bag of tricks. I certainly don't believe that it's reasonable to add any new damage types to the profession as it currently stands.

But if we're reduced in offensive power, having a bit more variety in how we can damage enemies might be a good thing.

i cant believe how many idiots htere are that chose anUNARMED profession and then want to add weapons to it.......................umm wouldnt that be not unarmed nad in fact armed?

un means not

a weapon is an arm (short for armament, i think thats how you spell it)

therefore unarmed means not weaponed or without weapon or whatever it means you dotn have a freakin' weapon

TKA shouldnt even have VK's and you are still asking for more

any of you guys that are asking for restraining moves or whatever instead of another weapon please disregard this post as it is not directed at you
