I've posted a question about State Defences and was told by Mankind that he's never seen any mention from the devs of them to remove Defence Stacking.

Two handed as a req definitely doesn't cut it. Either PIke or preferably One Handed would be better. And some Scout would be even better than that,although it seems as though that could be steep in the SP requirements.
I love the idea that two brawler branches could be merged and a 'Support' branch introduced.
Most of them could be justified as combined.
TK and 1 Handed = Typical Knife fighting, which is what a vibroknuckler and a kniferdoes anyway.
1 Handed and 2 Handed = Swordfighting... makes sense that once having mastered this a character would continue on to specialize in either Fencing or Hurking Swords.
2 Handed and Pike = These are close enough together that there are certainly similarities and you do use two hand for both.
TK and Pike = Coming full circle, anyone using a battlefield control weapon like a pike would certainly be wanting to know how to take a hand off it to slap down an opponent long enough to reposition.
Personally I'd lean towards combining TK and 1 Handed as its only with advanced training that they become truly divorced, at least as far as the 1 Hander's are concerned.

I'd rather they just increase the SP cost of the novice elite brawler class boxes by 12pt simply because I can't think of any pre reqs other than swordsman being 1h +2h that make any sense. I don't think a 5th line in brawler would be any good either because it would make master brawler cost too much imo.
Also, what ever happened to the Razor Knuckler? It wasn't posted with the new CU weapons.
:edit: just read wraith-x's post. I like his thinking and would be happier with those pre -reqs.
TKA = UA + 1h
Fencer = 1h + 2h
Swordsman = 2h + polearms
Pikeman = UA + polearms
It would also eliminate ALL 3 elite masteries (with the current proposal you can master TKA, Fencer and Swordsman)

First time post so here goes. I have just gottne TKM and i love it. The CU has me greatly concerned as the rest of you. The requirment for the 2h weapons is just too lame and so is the idea of teaming it up with fencing or polearms. SithDuke and TKMFelixxhave the right idea and that is the best idea i have read yet. It is a very justifiable compromise and would solve the problem of 2 tree requirment and limiting ppl from having all of these combat professions that make uber profs.

Iwish to amend my previous post. I have had some training in weapons and I am not stating that I am an expert, but baton, swords, knives, and larger swords have similar moves, blocks, and stances, while polearms are different. The trees could be unarmed, blade and blunt weapons, polearms, and the combat xp branch of Melee technics with the previous stated abilites by SITHDUKE or was it TKMFelixx. Anyway, that is not too much of a break from what the Devs are aiming at and it makes more sence than what they are trying to do now.
On a personal note, i think they have already added this stuff in the latest patches and hotfixes and just have not activated it. I am not a programmer but I am sure that to do what they are wanting to do takes heck of alot of time and the amount of code to go thru, change, delete, alter and screw it up so they have job security is astrinomical.(sorry, crappy speller) So far I have found the stability of the game is getting worse with each pub and patch. Seing boxes in an imperial detachment with a big question mark on it and the words "default image" is a sure sign they they are not on top of quality control. I would be quite happy if they would just take 6 months and did nothing but fix the bugs and issues that have cropped up. Then they could come out with upgrades and expansions instead of offering up an expansion to sooth over the Combat Upgrade ramroding of ideas that have already been set in motion that our oppions will be shoved to the side and forgotten about. I am not a novice to the MMORPG with 5 years under my belt from Ultima Online.
If you dissagree with the second paragraph let me know if anything has been done since the start of this game that the Devs have done right according to the logical and sincable post from the community.

I've got a question... call me an idiot or whatever but something doesn't jive right about this.
Right now, unbuffed I can't even take out a Tusk Cat Lair... I might add that I am a TKM... now I'm trying to grind for Jedi, what happens when I get knocked off my swoop.... by oh I dunno a Nightsister Ranger... I have no buffs to save my butt, I can't take them out with 3000 health points. There is no one else around to save my butt, because god forbid I want to solo it out to the Jedi Villiage to cash in my XP points. So what happens? I'm dead, and have to go clone. Or if say a rancor knocks me off my swoop, I can't kill it, I get knocked down, I die and go get cloned.
My question is, you get attacked and a whole pack of creatures attack you at once... How the hell are you going to be able to cool down before another attack hits... your dead! And the self heals is absolutly stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now you have to choose the right weapon to suit the attacker, come one, with the tranfer rate, you'll be incapped before the transfer occures! Not to mention we have to pick how the weapon is going to attack! *shakes head*
What is the point in playing a game when all you do is die, and group with people you don't like or get anything in return for loot...
TKA is an honor to play. I love it, it's the reason I log in everyday... I became a Master because I liked kicking butt with my hands and not a gun. I don't understand the need for 2handed it just don't make any sense and seems to be a complete waste of skill points, that I could use else where, such as scouting or even dancing, but then again dancing isn't considered a combat profession so I can't do that and still be a TKA, with no stat migration.
I guess my last question here is, does any of this feedback really matter? It's coming out in a month no matter what we say, we just have to live with this right? Because after reading this and all of the other threads, I'm gathering 70-90% of the people say they want the designers stop with the CU upgrade they don't want all these changes. Yet not once has anyone come in (DEV) and said ok we will not do that...
Does it matter that those who have played this game for 1-2 years are ready to leave? Ready to cancel their accounts, and walk away? I've lost 12 guild members in the last few months, all of them vets, some with 2 or 3 characters... So we are not all talk, we are really leaving!

do you think you were meant to beat the hell out of rancors with your bare hands alone?
tell you what... try playing with no buffs no armor nothing at all... for 4 months then complain about the difficulty your having.. because there was a time when people had to do that.. this whiney.. "I dont want the CU" is exactly why we need it.. you have been spoon fed the whole time you have played with risk free combat
time for all that to change and bring grouping and challenges back to the front

I would like to be able to defend myself against something if I am alone. How many people really group up to go to the Jedi Village just to cash in XP points? Last time I went I got attacked by 2 Rancors and 2 Nightsister Rangers on the way there and then 1 on the way back who then in turn destroyed my Swoop, if I hadn't been buffed at the time, (an no I wasn't wearing any armor) I'd have been incapped and killed. I should have the ablity to defend myself against them. You can only burst run for so long... I'm not asking to take out a whole lair, but I am requesting that they don't totally nerfthis profession so anything and everything can takeus out.
So in other words, When I was fighting the Ranger, 3 gaping spiders joined the fray.. now if I have to deal with the warm up and cool down bit, one of the 4 would have killed me. Not to mention having no buffs, come there would be no point going to any other planet other than coreilla and naboo... well unless you are grouped with a bunch of people...
Look some people love the idea of grouping, all the power to them, some of us don't. We like soloing. I like doing my scouting and hunting for creature resources, that's the basis of how I make money. If that's taken away, what's the point for me or for others who do the same thing, I have to take up rifleman come on!
Look I'm not the only one who feels this way... lots of others do too... it has nothing to do with being able to take down a rancor by myself, but it has to do with mastering a profession and having the ability to defend if need be.

Just be more careful when you go out. You dont HAVE to drive in a straight line, you know. Drive a little slower so stuff doesnt pop up right when you are next to it, then avoid it.

eh it doesn't matter now... in a month I'm gone I don't want to relearn a game that took me ages to get in the 1st place. Not to mention I don't want to see the character I've built and everything I've acomplished in game be gone. I tried being optimistic and I waited for a long time, after my guild left. They've taken TK away basically, and they've destroyed Dancer. There is nothing left in this game that will interest me after the upgrade. *shrugs* I suppose I could get a life now, lol...
