f) other
I had my character in mind when I started the game - dancer with unarmed combat skills. TKA is the only profession that offers unarmed combat.
I also don't see my character as mastering teras kasi, I see the SWG teras kasi as just "Unarmed Combat Martial Arts", free for all sorts of styles and backgrounds to be used for - from the "real" TKA, jedi hunting TKA, SpecForce unarmed combat training and other styles.

A) You liked the idea of the profession and gave it a try
That and I got tired of shooting things at point blank range. Kinda kills the imersion to beable to have a mob beating on you in melee range and being able to stand there and shoot them. And no I never did get good at kiting

C) You want to be the best combat player so you picked up TK because everyone else was. (Flavor of the Month)
D) You wanted to dabble in it for the defence (and / or) meditate skills.
E) You did it for a holo profession and liked it.
F) Other______________________________.
I would say I was a (B). I saw other TK fighting and those red streaks looked really cool. Even when I saw the profession gain popularity I didn't join it right away. It wasn't until Creature Handler got it's last major nerf that I decided to give it a try.
you captured my reasons exactly so why would type it all again

TKM
1. the meditation
2. the look on some dudes face when I hit Force of Will after he works so hard to drop me the first time.
3. Our mind is our only POTENTIAL weakness. States....Bah....I fear no state for I have food.
4. The usefulness in both PVE and PVP. 100% Kinetic resists will gradually fall as you work down that rockshaper or executioner.
5. It looked cool when all the other TKM were running around with red tracers.
6. I wanted to meditate in Starports so other people would go, "ooh look honey, a TKM".
7. What else was I going to do as a Trandoshan?
8. the fact that we can equip a weapon and still be considered Unarmed.
9. It complements so many other professions.
10. I can keep going but I want to go troll theCM and Riflemenforums. (Just kidding)
Is anyother profession in love with themselves as much as TKM are? (other than CM/Riflemen)

Definitely A with a little B tossed in and other- I'm a homicidal maniac who like to rend things apart with his hands. Nothing like removing body parts from the inside by driving your vibroknuckler down its throat!
TKA all the way eh?

It was a large combination of things. One of my good friends on Wanderhome Thalos was a TKM. I had done only ranged professions and after dueling him many times and getting beat up by a really good looking fighting style. I wanted to fight mynocks since I had a rifleman and got my butt kicked all the time. I found out that with meditation that I could heal the disease. So I figured what the heck I will at least get meditation. Once I got meditation 4 I said well I will just get the power tree and of course use the combat xp I gathered. Next thing I knew I was a TKM. Now no matter what I do I do not even consider leaving TKM. Two people I know did it and they cursed the day they had to leave it for their other persuits. Now I will stay a TKM and if they tell me drop TK to become a jedi I say death to the jedi.

Originally A. I just thought it would be a neat profession, and I wasn't disappointed. There was a little bit of B thrown in, but when I first started there weren't really enough around for me to have seen what TKM's could do. And, there was a lot of D thrown in just for the meditation. I love, love, love meditation. If I ever got rid of TKM, I'd seriously consider keeping the meditation line if nothing else. But, I don't think I'll be giving it up any time soon.
Definitely not C or E. When I pick professions or things to do in game, it has nothing to do with being the best (FOTM) or as a road to being the best (hologrinding). I do it because I think it's gonna be fun.

Ability to go where I wished to travel before the time of the speeder bike with no cares of the wild. honestly I am a true soloist and rarely group. so I looked to rely on myself in battle and as a medical doctor. In battle I am deadly and in longterm battle I am vicious. As a doctor I can heal myself and cure all states including mind poisons. Not to mention self buffing at will...no waits for a doctor to help.
The idea of a martial arts was intrigueing to me in this world of blasters and light sabers. And the thought of a rash young jedi jerk getting his ass kicked for being disrespectful was too much to resist.

F: I played a Martial Artist in Anarchy Online for two years and I really enjoyed the independent nature of the profession, and its ability to solo. When I tried SWG I saw that TK would provide similar gameplay but with the ability to mix and match professions I could fill in the holes as I saw fit. TK was the obvious choice, and it's awesome. I always plan my character around it.

It's a combination of (A) and (B) for me.
I started the game about 2 or 3 weeks after launch. This was my first online / role playing game and I really had no idea what the heck I was doing. When I made my Toon I picked brawler for my starting profession. I ended up doing missions unarmed then after reading the manual a bit I decided to go Master TKA and Master CH. I worked mostly on CH and was also going up in pistoleer because it seemed easier to work on CH while I stood back and shot, so I left Unarmed at novice. I Mastered CH in September then was thinking of just mastering pistoleer and dropping TK and Brawler all together. But then I saw two master TKA's dueling in Ancorhead and it looked so cool. TKA was calling me back. I mastered it sometime in October and now refuse to drop it.

I remember being new to the game and playing with a rl friendlast November. We were in a cantina, i was a scout and he was a brawler going for swordsman. He ended up in a duel against another brawler, but this guy was unarmed. He was using unarmed stun on my friend and i thought "damn that looks cool!" So i decided i would go for teras kasi
So i guess B is the closest in the list for me, even if it was only a brawler move
