Thread: Anybody TKA without CH?
I currently am almost a master TKA/ Master Ch and medic 4/0/4/4 and as has been said several times here in the post it does make your life easier when attempting new ventures or simply leveling.
I will provide one bit of advice if I may.....if you do plan on pvp then having pets is almost essential against players whom can do damage to you from long distance. Frankly, being kited by even a moderate marksmen can take a TKA down. Lets stress the "can"...obviously there are tactics toemploy in those cases, but my point here is having pets....such as a GSP / Grand Wrix can truly turn a pvp battle in your favor. This tactic allows you to cause diversions while you quicly rush up while COB and KD / Unarmed attack for massive damage (these pets due to the quickness also these pets can be used at CH lvl 1/1/0/0). Another point here is if you are advanced in your CH skills taking on mutliple targets in pvp allows for successful battles.
One last thing.....it is very possible to take down such things as At/St's and Rancor's with high level pets as a fully armored TKA by your self.
All in all....I look for difficulty in the game and since I am not a big person on joining large hunting groups I would rather adventure to see the worlds of SWG on my own I like to have the back up even though TKA's do kick as....especially Trando TKA's.
My thoughts anyway.
Good Luck
heh first class i took was brawler and i got tka in about 3 days, then i took up medic around the last 20k unarmed xp
its not that hard if you know what to fight, a calculator is your friend. heh
I wasn't in any hurry to Master TKA though.
However, if i had of been a CH, then i don't believe the satisfaction i got for reaching Master would've been there.
I've had more fun with the Melee and Unarmed skills than i've ever had with ranged combat.
The challenge to see what can and can't be beaten in a fight at all the various levels of TKA is great. I would constantly try to take on things i'd never dream of attacking without TKA.
I never even touched my blaster whilst i was working on TKA.
If i actually worked out the hours it took, i'd say about a total of 16 hours to actually go from novice tka to master. Not too shabby
I started the game and mastered TK off the bat, w/o medic, and without any other profession. Although back then VKs didnt need a cert, and because of thatit wasn't too painfully hard to level novis. I spent a good 2 months trying to find a good compliment to TK.
I started with smugler dirty tricks line, novis pistoleer, and the rest into SL. I was very disapointed with SL, and opted to go with the master brawler, master footwork, pike and sword defenses. I was very pleased with the tanking ability considering i was a wookie, but the range wasn't there. I tried rifflemen and comando, and although good solid proffessions, i did not personaly think they stacked up that well with the points spent with TKM. constantly switching weapons, i wanted two proffessions i can merge together and use simotaniously.
my options then had been narrowed down to 3.
1) CH
2) doctor
3) combat medic *note master*
I spent a good deal of time thinking this over, and since i am a wookie and i wanted ranged as well, i opted for CH.
What i found out was that haveing a good pet like a Gaping Spider Hunter, or two Bile Drenched Quenkers, tank better then i could have possibly tanked with my defensive set up when i had all those mods and master brawler.
Ch provides Range in PVP with spitting pets, and telling the pet to kill then reverse kiting. I can even pull rebels out of anchor head with pets as if they were Mobs from a lair. its really rather comical.
I picked CH not to level TK but to compliment TK in its powers. I feel my points were spent wisely, and it gives me what i love about TK, and extra damage, defense, at zero ham exspense. Also as i have mentioned it gives me range attack.
Since i use CH as a compliment, the two areas that i focus on are the damage bonus, and the range bonus, since i spend my time PVPing.
I am thrilled to learn that they are giving master CH the ability to comand your pets to do specials. BDQ's knock down and dizzy, as well as poison. How nice could it be to comand your pet to Knock down a target in PVP when you are 100m away safely out of range, and then go in for the finishing touchs.
So in short like i said, i picked master CH not to level, but rather to make TK better, and im pleased with the results.
alot of people suggest that being a CH is the best way to advance through TK, that the quickest way to TKM is to have a pet tank for you the whole way.
i'm a tkm now, and i say it's the other way around: TK is the best way to advance CH, and the quickest way to MCH is by tanking for your pet ![]()
off subject? maybe. pointless post? definitely. i guess i'm just in that kind of mood right now (^_^)
TKM without using pets/buffs/armor. Dont sell yourself short, learn your class and you will be surprised what we can do. So far i solo Giant Dune Kimos/Nightsisters/you name it, my next goal is either a Krayt or Dark Jedi Master.
You dont need pets or buffs - sure they help, but they make you sloppy.
When player vheicals comes out I am thinking about dropping CH and going smuggler then I will get myself a swoop bike/speeder bike and roleplay a ninjitsu/smuggler
