As far as I can see, the pet for you true TKAs out there is only useful in getting that group bonus for xp. I usually have my mount grouped with me, leave it a safe distance away and go to work wreaking havoc on mobs. I think you'll find you get like a 50% increase in the amount you get per kill with a group. I plan on getting rid of CH completely once I master TKA, then move up into the doctor tree, self buffs, power boost, and muon gold makes for insane amounts of HAM! Down side? I'm Wookiee so no ubese armor for me...

Theres really no need to use pets once you get to novice it gets pretty easy. Also if you have extra skill points pick up more melee/range defence and you can solo tons of things. I have 140 melee defence and i can solo rancors armorless.

I'm still a Master CH, but never used my pets while leveling TK. The only reason I still have it is to sell mounts and to get the badge for it when the next patch goes through.

Jux, I found that as a brawler I REALLY needed a tough, begginner pet (a Beetle) to take the hits for me. However, the moment I got TK novice and became certified for the full damage value of my VK's, I've only used my beetle once since achieving that. Even only filling my first tier of TK, so far, I'm still faster, tougher and deadlier than most enemies I face (the exception seems to be blaster wielding NPC's). So, eventually I plan to drop CH altogether, but I'm waiting for speeder bikes to come along so I can dump my Kaadu mount who runs up hills slower than my character!

I've not yet gone to the tough planets like Dath since getting novice, so it is conceivable that I would need help there, but that's what groups of other players with THEIR pets are for. lol

Pets are absolutly not neccessary. In my Opinion they only slow you down.
