Thread: Anybody TKA without CH?
I was a MD/MCM for a time and as I climbed the TKA profession I utilized my CM Poisons as an aide to taking on the tougher critters.
I am now MD/TKM and what I've found that truly helped was the ability to buff myself.
If you want level fast as hell. Get Kd2 and hit fort Tusken. Make sure you have armor or itll be a short trip. Youll easily make 100k and hour there. And thats great for melee.
If you dont use pets, compensate by using COB, intimidate, stun, blind(works incredibly well with COB) and warcry.
Good luck and dont take the easy road.
Youll end up getting tired with the game.

But I feel it is more fun to do it on your own. Hey, people don't get black belt in Tae Kwon Do in two days. Keep up the good fight!
You could get some med skills and later toss them out if you have enough points to spare.

Pets help alot with convenience factor. It's like having a full set of buffs whenever you want. I'd definitely recommend you get a little rock beetle to help your XP'ing. It's currently a non-CH pet, and I think you'll enjoy the company. If you want to fight without a pet, then obtain a full set of buffs (musician, dancer, and doctor) and a good set of 70% kinetic advanced ubese. Good luck to you. ![]()
I was a Master Pistoleer / Master Smuggler before I started messing around with TKA, and now Iuse itfor extra state defenses, the Dizzy/KD, and Powerboost. I never once used a pet, though I occasionally grouped with CH friends (and totally ignored the old 'send the pets in first' rule).
My advice for breaking into TKA without using pets:
- Use speed powerups on your VK. Buy them by the crate. I prefer ones that drop Action HAM.
- Get a good set of kinetic-resistant Ubese. Hold out for at least 65%, and then make sure you get it sliced to see if you can drop the encumbrance. Migrate your stats so you don't need food or spice to put the full suit on.
- Get Novice Pistoleer and stack Health Shot 1 and Health Shot 2 before closing in to fight.
- Keep good Stim Bs hotkeyed for when you get beat down. If you can, group with someone working their way up any sort of Medical profession. You'll be great practice for them and they'll keep you alive and kicking.
- Keep Muon Gold and Mind-enhancing food and drink hotkeyed for tough patches.
- Get Bioengineered clothes with Intimidate/Warcry mods to make the effects stick more often (this might require tradeoffs with armor, but landing either one will extend your life - landing both will severely cramp your enemy's style). Remember to use Intimidate/Warcry, too, especially if you're alone. Most people don't.
- [Smugglers Only: Use Feign Death when the going gets rough, especially after laying on two bleeds.]
There's a lot to remember, but if you follow that advice, you'll hit the ground running in TKA. Once you get the basic KD, things will fly along for you.
I have never been so happy as I was with my spat mount and me leveling on Dant. No stupid tanking pet, just me and the mobs. It was great, challanging and utterly more fun than sitting in the back shooting at whatever my pet was holding off.
btw: don't use comp armor for creature mobs, use high % ubese, i had 71% sliced for encumbrance so i could wear it all without buffing.
