Teras Kasi Archive
Thread: Teras Kasi should not get a new damage type.
Listen up peeps, this is not YOUR board merely because you are TK's.. Get thatstraight. Orshow me the passage that disallows anyone without boxes in TK from posting here.
It is a lesson in futility discussing the (over)power of the TK class with people who could not be objectiveunlessyou forced them to play a pistoleer for 3 months.
And before I get hit with the regular "Get your own prof fixed!", "Don't post on our boards!" etc. etc. let me clarify my experience with the TK.
I am a TKM and I did that proffesion with my jaws hanging down on my desk, I was simply amazed how easy and fast it was to do solo. I had just come fromMasterPistoleer and the difference sickened me. But then of course the Pistoleer must be much better in groups doing PvE, right? Or at least in PvP, right??!... Well, bend me over and call me Mr. P. Owned.
It is simply ludicrous how big a difference there is between these two profs that has exactly the same pointcost.
No fellas, you avid TK-proffesion-defenders are the one who should be on the other prof boards supporting their issues - because you know that you are infact overpowered until they are fixed...And it would be a win-win for you, should the other fellas be fixed, they wouldn't be here crying for TK nerfs..

It is beyond stupid to be adding new things to the game (such as this new heat VK crap thing) when you have entire lines of proffesions that are totally and inherently bugged. Or could you explain to me why not?

It is not our responsibility to promoteothers' professions. It is theirs. And besides, it seems like everyone and their pet hamster is in this forum flaming us, so who would be inthose other forumsto read anything that's posted anyways?

Ok where to begin...
Lets start with this notion that Unarmed is literally translated to mean no weapon. Do you call a professional Boxer armed? No. They wear large weighted gloves with a rough texture. Most forms of "unarmed" combat use small handheld weapons. Romans used Cestus, asian styles had so many variations I couldnt begin to list them, and in some cultures tapes soaked with sap from a tree then rolled in sharp bits of rock were used for weapons for there unarmed fighters. So is the VK a weapon yes. Does that mean we shouldnt be allowed to use it? No. It is specifically designed to fit with the mechanics of the style of combat.
Now on to this dizzy/kd issue. Buy food. That simple. I rarely PvP however when I am involved in Serious pvp I always have buffs/armor/drugs/food/drink. These negate our kd/dizzy and for the most part negate us all together.
Havoc, you claim we should all just take multiple combat profs if we want different types of weapons, well while that is ok, I would tell you that I would rather keep my doc title. A lot of TK are docs or crafters. This is because our weapons are cheaper than most, our PvE ability is great and we fit nicely with the Doc being a support role. You complain that we get TWO damage types now with the super-rare Blacksun RK, but why shouldnt we? And unless I missed something you have 4 types between your profs. Electric, Energy, Kinetic, and stun. Before you tell me how over powered our heat is look at your stun. And dont try to negate your Energy by saying it is so rare no one has it because the new RKs will be the same.
Also Meditate is not as great as you think. Yes it is great we can do what we can but it is all outside of combat. You can accomplish the same by seeing a doc or having one in your party. FoW is the only combat related Meditate ability. And before you tell me that we do too much damage too fast, you should be able to hit the speed cap as a MFencer. Not our problem is you dont want to take the neccassary steps to be all you can be. And the difference is that us with our kin/heat will still only do 200-400 tops in PvP while you with Stun will do a LOT more. Also in PvE most mobs that are high in Kin are high in Heat. So think before you speak.
And to whoever said it was unfair that TK is bettter than pistol, try Fencer, HS, Riflemen, they all outweigh pistols. Pistols is broken they are not for the most part. Therefore it is commonsense that pistols would be weaker until it is fixed.
Seriously people I hate flame wars, lets all try to get the broken stuff fixed before we nerf and or pre-emptive nerf (lol I love this new term) anything else. Once they fix the bugs in all the profs everything will be fine.

I find it funny that TKAs beg for interaction with Jedi for continuity's sake, but they fail to see the problem with a profession that advocates unarmed combat yet uses weapons. I'm a TKA myself, and have been ever since I got the game a month after launch, and the fact that we get a vibroknuckler period just doesn't make sense to me. And now TKAs want heat damage? If you're that adamant about being effective in PvE (I know not PvP, since comp armor comes 80% heat resistant these days), why even choose TKA as a main combat profession? I'm currently working on Fencer, to gain access to the Stun Baton, and certain specials which I hear make it one of the best PvP professions in the game - I'm not going to gimp myself by having only one combat profession when I want to be the best. Simply put, giving TKAs another damage type makes no sense at all.
TKA is a balanced profession right now because of the fact that they only have one damage type, yet they have the ability to knockdown/dizzy in one move, can heal their own wounds/diseases/poisons/bleeding, can buff themselves 550+, and can bring themselves out of incapacitation.
THANK YOU!!! What part of UNARMED don't people understand??
As for the Kinetic armors prevailing on every server, why do you think they've been made?? PvE, and the sheer volume of TKA's out there... same with all the stun layers coming into armors now, to combat the stun batons/jawa rifles...
-- and before you start flaming me, my alt is holo-grinding TK... and unarmed xp is a bit*h

TKMs do fine as tanks... and we do do great in soloing most anything. but the most common resist for npcs and playersis kin so why not give us an alt dmg type so were not left completely helpless against stuff that does have high kin resist. Almost every other prof gets a few diff damage types why not give us some.
UNARMED...
what other damage types can you do when you hit something with your hand/foot?? Cold? Acid? Blast?Energy? please...

Half the people on my galaxy are already TK, and a straight TKM is strong enough.
Every profession (should) have a weakness, and you guys are complaining because your already overpowered prof isn't perfect?
Also - restraint isn't a normal type of damage, most high level enemies have 5% resist to restraint, not only would TKM's be absolute Gods against higher spawns with that type of damage, normal armor doesn't even protect against it. You have the VK, you have the razor knuckler (what is that, heat? elec? I've heard both), you are already very powerful at master without a weapon.
You guys have no right to bug the devs about perfecting your professions when others are nearly obselete.
oh, i read the first sentance then 1*ed it

Erm...you hit someone on the head with a hammer and he gets blasted?
You use a polearm and whack somebody and he gets electrocuted?
If you want reality, then come and meet a martial artist of 23 years experience. Yes, I am that old and I started when I was 7. I'll show you KD/Stun and Incap in 1 move.
I also use swords, nunchaku, and various other weapons. So far, I've never managed to electrocute someone yet...
There was a poster earlier who was berrating TKA's on this board and claiming that everyone had a right to post on these boards, TKA and non-TKA. I fully agree. However, the rules of the board say "constructive posts", and nerf-crying, last I checked, did not fall into this category.
Also, there is the "right" of common curtesy. Disrupting TKA discussions on their own profession, and on their own boards, would be defined as discourteous, in almost any culture. It would be downright rude in mine. So, are you saying that TKA do not even have the right of common courtesy and privacy?
This thread is stupid and juvenile. I would urge all TKA's to completely ignore this thread from now on and focus on the more constructive threads of new TKA's requesting assistance.

well i could come up with an idea on how to cause electric damage with your fists, a re-worked version of a stun gun for instace mounted on a pair of gloves.
I'm a Pikeman/Fencer/Medic by the way, as I stated earlier.
Also, whoever said that every other prof has more than 1 damage type, therefore TK should, that is completely ludicrous.
TK has 5 things that make it a powerful profession.
-Meditate
-Powerboost
-Force of Will
-A lot of damage FAST
-A dizzy/kd in the same attack
No other professions have that stuff (except for #4, but as other TK's who aren't asking to be invincible stated, it is sickening how powerful TK is and how fast)
TK is fine as it is, and you all damn well know it.
Don't beg for new damage types so you can solo EVERYTHING efficiently.
