Almost every other prof gets a few diff damage types why not give us some.
UNARMED...
what other damage types can you do when you hit something with your hand/foot?? Cold? Acid? Blast?Energy? please...
Erm...you hit someone on the head with a hammer and he gets blasted?
You use a polearm and whack somebody and he gets electrocuted?
If you want reality, then come and meet a martial artist of 23 years experience. Yes, I am that old and I started when I was 7. I'll show you KD/Stun and Incap in 1 move.
I also use swords, nunchaku, and various other WEAPONS. So far, I've never managed to electrocute someone yet...
There was a poster earlier who was berrating TKA's on this board and claiming that everyone had a right to post on these boards, TKA and non-TKA. I fully agree. However, the rules of the board say "constructive posts", and nerf-crying, last I checked, did not fall into this category.
Also, there is the "right" of common curtesy. Disrupting TKA discussions on their own profession, and on their own boards, would be defined as discourteous, in almost any culture. It would be downright rude in mine. So, are you saying that TKA do not even have the right of common courtesy and privacy?
This thread is stupid and juvenile. I would urge all TKA's to completely ignore this thread from now on and focus on the more constructive threads of new TKA's requesting assistance.

Coryn let me ask you some questions : do you consider the following "unarmed" fighting styles : Karate, akido, ninjitsu, shaolin kung fu andwu shu, if yes are you aware that : all these "unarmed" fighting styles use weapons in some form, a martial artistadvanced in any of these fighting styles know how to effectivly use : swords, pike's, knives, hammers and such weapons, "unarmed" is just a term for fighting were you usually do not use weapons, but you can if its needed.

apples and oranges...
we are talking about Teras Kasi... not karate, akido, ninjitsu, kung fu, wu shu, etc so on and so forth... that comparison does not apply
btw, no I don't consider them "unarmed" for that exact reason (they use weapons - some more than others)
ok, I answered your questions... what about mine?? (I can play rhetoric all day)
ok
1. weapons , even though we are supposed to be unarmed, we need ways to do damage to Npc's and pc's who have light, Medium, and heavy AR and also 40%+ kinetic resist, i would not want a new weapon IF we could get say gloves with no damage or speed mods, but would give us light or medium AP and the possiblility to give us other damage types,OR cut the kinetic resist in NPC'sandplayer armor, and make the ar on them beliveble, take Spitting Rawl for instance, the 2 handed "finishingblow" which endsthis special is landed so that it hits inthe "solar plexus" an area of the body which is vulnerable to hits, even a moderate blow to this area can kill you or severlyhurt you, and a Master of unarmed combat should be able to deliver blow hard enough to break bones. Secondly Teras Kasi means "Steel hands" and to me its clear that with that name on thefighting style its clear to me thatwe should be able to inflict serious damage regardless of armor. Take the Powerhammer, no matter it you have a Kevlar helmet which is resistant to bullets (wihch is the same as kinetic) welleven ifthe bullet does not penetrate the helmet it will still knock you out. If a bullet strikes a Bullet proof vest you still are gonna bruised. So in my oppinion armor should not have high resists to kinetic, the only thing resisting kinetic damage should be armor rating and maybe armor like padded. It is in my oppinion insane that damage should be reduced firstby 50% because of armor rating then 80% by special protection. of coursefighting with hands and feetyou cant penetrate a tank, but there's a clear difference between a tank and a Nightsister, a tank is covered in metal a nightsister is "human". ¨
Basically i agree with doc in that weapons are less inportant, but then we need ways to damage, pc's with high AR andi saw a suggestion earlier about adding "judo" like specials where you can Put locks on and enemy and have these specials do restraint damage, to me this seemed like a good idea.

You have a good point. We don't need a whole range of different damage types. If we did get them, then it wouldn't be fair and a lot more people would be calling for nerfs (more than the normal group that is). Aside from that, everyone wants their profession to be the strongest. I'm not sure what you do profession wise, but I'm sure you wouldn't complain if the devs decided to give you a bunch of "uber" type weapons and such.
Yes we are strong as it is and there are other professions that need fixing, but if you are going to complain and whine, please make it constructive. Just saying that we don't need a new damage type isn't going to help your cause. If you have a complaint, find a way to fix it. Don't just whine about it like a lot of the other people do.
By the ways, we do have a weakness. It's called "Ranged Weapons". Ever been kited? Try it sometime. It's not a whole lot of fun if you ask me. But, it's our weekness and you have to learn to overcome and adapt to them (just like any other weakness)
I'm kinda glad that a TKA is acknowledging the relative strength of the profession compared to others.
As far as being vulnerable to ranged weapons, yes that is true, but it's not really a weakness of TKAs alone, it's the disadvantage of being a brawler period, and the devs sure have done what I think is more than necessary to kill that disadvantage.
My main complaint about TKAs specifically is that they do rifleman damage at pistoleer speed, yet they are supposed to be the weakest of all the four brawler types. A close second to that is that they are ridiculously more accurate than any of the other professions, pretty much never missing at master though every other profession does (yes, including rifleman). I have heard of TKMs hitting for 15k in PvE, don't know how true this is but the TKMs I have talked to do say it is possible. What other profession can do that much damage in PvE anyway, besides Jedi and commandos (who use weapons with MUCH higher damage ratings)? Even if they don't hit for 15k that much, they do regularly hit for 4k and once a second without special modifiers like skill attachments or other profs. Do master fencers hit for that much normally? What about master swordsmen? I dohear pikemen can hit for more...but at a much slower rate.
My main complaint about brawlers in general is that 20m range. Btw a VK's max dange is listed as 3m, and if I recall the other brawler weapons have low-to-mid single digit max ranges as well. Why are brawlers allowed to hit at a pistol's ideal range? I think 10m is reasonable to compensate for lag and stuff, but 20m is too high.
By the way, if you are a brawler and being kited, just break the marksman's line of sight by ducking behind a wall or going into a building (non-player-owned, of course, since that annoying no-entry-when-TEFed-deal is still in place but thankfully may be up for change). If the marksman tries to hit you with specials s/he will use up HAM but won't have any chance of hitting you, and if s/he comes near you, you will be able to hit. If you're going to be a brawler and be able to kill a marksman at close range...gotta get close. And if that fails, a well-timed burst run can goa long way toward getting you within range.

Point #1 - WEAPONS... like I said before, what part of UNARMED don't people understand??
Point #2 - Nerf-Crying... since when is upholding the status quo "nerf-crying"?? I'm not calling for a nerf, I calling for a stop to a stupid addition that violates the purpose of your class
Point #3 - the"right" of common courtesy and privacy... As I recall, I'm a paying customer with 2 accounts, and that gives me all the rights I need to cruise whatever boards I see fit... My alt might just stay a TKA instead of just holo-grinding (even with only one damage type... /cry) OOOOOHH FAUX PAS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER!!!
#4so what is it that people want here?? do they want to be Liu Kang or Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat?? shooting fire/ice from their palms, or maybe Scorpion with his harpoon to combat kiters??
#5if you want magic, play EQ... you can even use your same Station signon...

teras kasi are in total control over their bodies--much like jedi and the force, only the jedi control everyhting around them. tks use their inner energies to win in combat
so essentally, you could focous your power into your hand and make it do any number of damage types
what was your question?

How do I start an answer against an obviously ignorant fool...
Speaking as someone who has had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do since I was 15, and now sports a Karate qualification as well, plus dabbled in Kung-fu...
1. First, your definition of unarmed is not recognized by TRUE martial artists. Tae Kwon Do, Karate, most forms of Kung Fu etc. are all considered forms of unarmed combat. Yet, in our curriculum, we do training with some simple "weapons". For example, were I to roll a magazine into a hard baton, would I be considered armed? Were European brass knuckles really considered a weapon? Or simply an aid to fist fighting. Go do some reading first instead of talking out of your rear orifice, and get that pea sized brain of yours out of your **edit** before you purport to talk to martial artists about our art. You insult us with your ignorance.
2. You ARE nerf-crying, so stop the b*ll**edit**. You can argue till the cows come home, and you will still be seen as nerf-crying. The sad thing is that you come from a culture that so upholds the principle of "no b*ll**edit**". Pitiful. And tell me...what exactly is the purpose of my class? Is there a purpose other than to make subscribers happy so that SOE can earn a profit?
3. Your 30 bucks a month gives you the right to insult, be rude and downright discourteous to everyone? Which part of the forum rules did you not understand? Oh, forgive me, I forget that you are a person with little intelect, and possibly may hardly have ever read a book in his life. The forum rules may have just been too much for you.
4. You ask what we want? SOE has asked, and we have replied. But I don't think we have to reply to YOU as to what we want. Reality check here....your 30 bucks doesn't give you that priviledge.
5. As to what game I would like to play...I'm sorry, but you don't get to tell me where to spend MY money. You seem to put a lot of value into 30 bucks. In actuality, it hardly pays for one trip to the pub.
6. What your 30 bucks does buy you is the right to say what is on your mind, without compromising OTHER'S rights to common courtesy just as others have the right to tell you to get lost...as you have been told already many times on this thread. Unfortunately, you either lack the class, or the courtesy to withdraw from where you are not wanted. In other words, you want to force your opinion on others. And you get angry when others won't allow it. It's so silly.

in my opinion this profession is a major bandwagon profession, along with holodgrinding so everyone can be a friggen jedi! im seriously hoping they nerf the heck out of tka just so i wont have to see so many running around, geez it seems like everyone and their mother i studying the art of tka!
bandwagoneers! bandwagoneers! bandwagoneers!
I'd still like to point out, btw...
Unarmed is just a name, it doesn't mean truly unarmed....
...any more than a fencermeans using "fencing" weapons (batons? walking sticks? are not fencing weapons)
...any more than a SWORDsman means using swords (hammers are not swords)
...any more than a PIKEman uses means using pikes (lances are not pikes)
...any more than a RIFLEman uses means using rifles (spraysticks are not rifles, they're mace canisters).
It's just a name they gave to a stype of fighting. Our style is "Palm-sized weapons". Fencers are "1h held weapons". Swordsmen are "2h held weapons". Pikemen are "long 2h weapons". They just chose names that had more flavor than that.
