Thread: DEVS! TKA robes similar to Jedi Robes. Would work for all brawler classes and advanced classes.

Why not get rid of most of the amour and create missions for clothing for all classes. These could be made nessecary to get the novice in that class. It would require a amoursmith to create the protective properties of the clothing and then a BE to create the modifing part of the clothing and then finally a tailor to put the whole thing together, giving these people more work and income to do, giving each class a distinctive look and getting rid of the massed clones of composite amour.

The only amour that i would have in would be factional amour which would be worn only when overt, and would lack the skillmodifiers that the clothing had but would be more protective, hence it would be a line the people would have to select. Go for extra protection, lose modifiers and open yourself to attack or go with the class clothing

Actually, and this has been brought up before, most of the stuff about Teräs Käsi hunting Jedi is from fan-made RPGs and encyclopedias which are even below "official" canonstatus. Even if we accept that, it's illogical to presume that because Teräs Käsi was used to hunt Jedi, then all Teräs Käsi practitionershunt Jedi. In the world of the educated, we call this a "hasty generalisation", and is a fallacy by definition!

How can we forget, by the way, that there are mentions of Teräs Käsi artists that didn't hunt Jedi at all. Some, such as Joclad Danva, who appearedin anarticlein the HoloNet News (officially sanctioned by LucasArts, and therefore canon) were Jedi themselves.

Not like this game follows any sort of continuity at all, but I think that certain geekwads should stop bending the facts to make Teräs Käsi out to be more "uber" than it is so that they can have their bottle and "own" everyone.

I really need a rolling eyes smiley.

Geekwads eh? How can you even say something like that right after pulling all that geeky info out of your ars?

So before you start calling people names, make sure your not the poster child for that name.

Either way, when it comes down to it, I rather hang out with a geek than a **edit** like yourself.

i think itsa really bad idea, especially if the outfit looks really cool and its job specific. Then we're just going to get more people wanting to be TK just to wear the cool outfit. We have enough as it is.

Are you serious? You don't want improvements because people will want to be a TKA? Dude get a clue man. Besides this is just an outfit or something if all classes are improved to be more fun then you won't have people just being a TKA for the clothes.

To tell you the truth I don't know many peeps who would go TKA for the clothes only. Also the smuggler revamp is supposed to be very cool so lets not do that either because then people will want to be smugglers.

Oh! And down with that Jedi revamp I mean all it is going to do is make more people want to be Jedi. In fact lets make the whole game just one class and that would be ID. We can all be IDs so you won't have to complain about something stupid.

Sticking to the topic... Find me a quote in any Star Wars book which talks about the Teräs Käsi artists having dedicated robes and I'll give the slightest crap. Until I see that, you're all just trying to be Bruce Lee.

Like SWG follows anything of continuity.

Go back and watch A New Hope. Luke and Obi Wan were already wearing gis layered with other clothing, not as any super fighting clothes but simply because that was the style Lucas picked. I was surprised when I started playing that the tailors weren't making them already.

Personally I think that the whole armor/doctor buff routine has gotten ridiculous. I would love to see a return to a more natural style of play. Speed encumberance on armor does make sense.

Maybe with a component from the armorsmiths, and several from the BE's it wouldn't be too out of line to ask for a light armor clothing outfit, no extra resists, with some melee skill mods thrown in. Synthetic fabrics could do a number of things from diffusing energy, to keeping the fighter cool (lowering action encumberance maybe?), to boosting a fighter's sense of pride (special insignia representing a level of mastery, maybe help with mind costs or give state resists?) Also, a robe or a cloak could be used to confuse an enemy. With all that cloth it's harder to tell exactly where the person is, so extra defensive stats there would make sense, for someone who is certified to use it in that way.If you're worried about TK clones then make it so that the mods can go into different styles of clothing, not just the gis.

I don't see why Jedi should have all the fun. There's no real reason why Jedi should be the only ones with defensive clothing. Sure we don't want to see Jedi wearing too much armor, but that holds true with other classes as well.

I agree. I haven't used my composite in three weeks because of Ubese being less expensive for a good set. If I accidentally break a piece, I won't be spending an astronomical amount for a new piece. Ive replaced my jacket three times, always spending less than 50k for a 78% kinetic piece.

As for all of you that want to look like you are straight out of Street Fighter or Ninja Gaiden, then all power to you. Just don't expect everybody to help you make this game lose it's identity. This doesn't mean that I think the Teras Kasi robe is a bad idea, I just think that the design must have a hige amoutn of Star wars influence while not looking the least bit like Jedi robes.

Getting one of these would be really cool. A TKA should not go around spinning a flipping in a set of heavy armor... I guess what they could do is give us robes, and then restrict the moves that can be used while in armor.

Or....... Maybe a belt (with a defense or two) to be worn with whatever clothing we choose. A red or black belt that only master tka could wear. with lesser belts of varying colors for lesser tka (like brown for tka 4/4/4/4). But put in a crafter made robe (hooded preferably) or gee that can be bio enhanced, but actually worn by anyone. My MDE is not quite a tka, but almost. These are just some ideas to mull over.

Like I've said before I see this as problematic. Your taking something that's generic (Armor) and making it profession specific. This type of change is going to require alot of tweaking, and nerf requests will multiply because of it. "TKA's are fast and they get awsome robe armor they don't need to have encumberance costs *whine rant cry piss moan* NERF THEM". In effect it creates a situation of ignorance because those who are not TKA will not have access to these items so they'll begin to make up things based on rumors like "My friends buddy who's on another server is a TKM and his robe provides him 95% resists across the board....". Hell even us TKA's will be calling nerf on other professions if we think their combat clothing is too good.

And even ifourprofessions willing to stick it out through another "FOTM" label we'll still have to deal with problems that will occur when regular "armor" is adjusted for balance and these combat robes are forgotten. This could be a good thing IE allowing you to have resists higher than you should, or it could be a bad thing giving you resists lower than you should. These problems will be less of a priority for the developers to fix because it only effects a single profession (TKA) rather than everyone who wears armor.

I honestly see this as opening pandoras box. If the rest of the TKA's out there really desire this then more power too you. However remember how much you wanted this when you spend the first 3-6 months wearing robes which in comparison to the armor are not nearly as good, more expensive to purchase because they require rare resources that haven't spawned with good quality stats, and don't accept armor attachments. Remember how useless the 150,000 cred suit of armor you just purchased is now useless because you can't preform combat moves while in it, and finally remember you asked for it! And you did so before the combat revamp.
