Thread: Anybody TKA without CH?
I used acowardly gurrekto get to novice TKA. Iused it to help me hold things down until i got there to hit it. I liked the cat animals since they are extremely fast to catch something.
Those Peko can get 100m away when they get close to death and I got tired of chasing them down to have go 100m the way they came. the cowardly gurreck keeps them occupied so they arent as likely to take off.
Once I got novice TKA I quit using pets so much and started grouping with ranged fighters.
I started out going TKA | CH | and Sliceing for smuggler
Soon as i got TKA, I had no need for CH besides that fact that i used my CH pets to get higher missions and as soon has i got the mission i would store my pets, because i was able to go in there and kick the crap out of every thing. When i frist got TKA i went for Power Tech. 2, then got Blance and Cordanation1 for KD. Then i got Power Tech. 3 and after that i got Meditate 2, and by then i already had persicion striking 2.
But i dont think you realy need CH, Becuase CH is only good for Ranged people who need to hid behind the pet. All i can say is that with TKA your tough and dont real need the pet.
hehe would help if you knew who I was ![]()

never used a pet or armour through all of TKA. Only had a doc buff once, used to carry lots of stim packs and muon gold, and use them when needed.
I just was careful on selecting targets, and if needed would seperate them so I could fight just 1 at a time.
Its a matter of preferance if youdo it because you like it why would you want a pet doing some of your work for you.
One thing I found to work very well was doing Hurton missions on Dantooine. Advanced Ubese (65-72% resists vs. kinetic) are key though.
I am working on smuggler as well as TKA with some basic medic skills tossed in, so I would use my pistol skills to toss a bleed shot on one of the hurtons, then switch to mu knucks. As soon as he was within range, Warcry, knockdown, Unarmed hit2, then as soon as the mob stands up, center of being and berserk to finish the job. Pickets and Picket plainswalkers are good xp on Dantooine as well, but they tend to hit you in the head alot and as an armor wearing TKA, your mind pool is very much so your weak point.
Also, if you can find another brawler looking to level up, things will go much quicker.
Above poster was correct, CH is entirely unnecessary for a true TK.
As far as XPing goes. Go to the Kunga Cave on Dantooine south of the mining outpost. Dizzy/KD them and go to town...learn to pull well and that's 160k xp in around an hour once you get the flow of it all...pets are stupid except to kill...speaking of which.
Killing rancors (regular or gnarled) are a half dozen at a time easy...no joke. Done it myself.
Keep working and dying until you know your play style, but for me there are two ways to go about a foe:
Kill it slow and take your time (good for those tough situations against heavy-hitters)...Fully de-buff them and keep it on them, wear full nice armor and have buffs (I self buff).
or...
Kill it fast. KD + warcry and nexu-grin it to death w/Vks on. (Doesn't work for all, but self-buffed with my mind-stats a Nexu Grin w/VKs on is but 12 mind and that's it (I've got 1650 PBd up).
Not that hard...elementary actually.

So Ubese is the best armor for TKA?
For *most* PvE, yes. Due to its high kinetic resists and relatively low HAM costs, it makes a great armor for TKA's.
I'm TKA/Commando/Smuggler.. varied levels right now, but I'm liking the entire combo a lot.
Didn't see anyone else mention this, so I will...
If you are TKA or TKM, get more Melee / Ranged Defense...Like get at least the Special Abilities tree of Pistoleer, even if you never plan on using a weapon (un-TKA like to use guns in some folks minds)...By pumping up the Defenses your opponents will miss much more often...currently, thanks to Master Commando and TKA, I have about +70 Melee & Ranged Defenses...I also have +8 more in bio ware...When I fight just about any NPC, they only hit me about 1 out of 4 tries...some never get a hit on me...by the time I'm finished with my template I'll have over +100 Melee Defense and close to that in Ranged...Combine that with at least a 70% Kinetic Ubese Armor and I'm pretty well set...
With this combo, I've been advancing pretty well in TKA...gone from Novice TKA to 2|0|2|3 ina little less then aweek (just 3 hours a night)....and that's a pretty good pace for me...all without a pet helping me.
TKM no pets (TKM, smug 2224, med4000, scout4000, pistol 0021 + required), working towards TKM, MS, Pistol 4044, med1000.
I got all the upper half of tk exp off of Dant, hunting pikets (the 9K missions). Find yourself a few pieces of adv composite armor (I just used legs, chest and helm, look for 50% kinetic atleast), a 1.5 VK, and a DX2 (light armor piercing and acid - pikets weak towards acid). You should be able to solo a nest (3 at a time, usally no more than two of the big ones and one normal) at TK 2222, +novice pistoleer, +novice medic (atleast this is about when I started). Always use PB, only carry 380+ stim Bs and get some MG from a smug. Open a nest by health shot 1+2 on all targets, if your quick, they won't argo till the first tick. Pick the weakest, unequip DX2, blind+stun, equip VK till dead, rinse and repeat on the next weakest, do a KD every now and then just for a lit'l breather--- no other combat styles used (unless grouped (you will be the tank btw), thenthrow in an aoe every now and then to keep them all on you, educate your group in targeting only the ones you blind+stun).
Side note, the 9K mission pikets don't DB, so if your get'n it handed to you, just throw on a round of HS1+2 on then and take a lit'l dirt nap while they bleed away.
This can get boring after several trips, but it's hard to beat easy 3-4K exp kills, 9 kills a nest and the 9k credit pay out, it's well worth it.
Best of luck to you (nice seeing others sick of all the pets -- WHERE'S MY LAND SPEEDER?!)
