Thread: Brawler correspondant not acting in a professional manner....
Hmmm call me crazy but I'd rather see a TK correpsondant responding on issues dealing with Teras kasi than a Brawler correspondant. Despite your words that you wouldnt want to see a nerf, your comments have very well lead alot of people who want to see a nerf for us to comment all the louder. We have one of many sayings in the military "Stay in your lane". We say that for a reason. You may have caused more damage to our class with your comments then alot of players calling for nerfs. Why? Because you are a correspondant and your words do hold weight ...to players and developers. As far as the players forums ..please stay in YOUR lane. Let the TK Correspondant do his work. He's been doing something right as TK has gotten love. Hell if you need something to do....help out providing constructive suggestions with the other melee correspondants (particularly pikeman). Hoot and holler about that. But leave a finished class alone. No offense Im sure your dedicated and enthusiastic for the brawlers.....which is your lane.
All I did was make some true statements about things that TKA are capable of. TKA's do take 2.3 times less melee damage than people without melee toughness (2.6 with master brawler). VK's at TKM do deal 3.5 times more damage than the comparable AP1 fencer weapon (and twice as much damage as the AP0 gaderiffi baton). They are essentially equivalent to 300-440 damage weapons at 2.2 speed. They are capable of spamming specials at 1s each and do have relatively low HAM costs compared to other melee weapons. Even barefisted they do 250-260 damage which is a higher minimum damage than the maximum damage of any fencer weapon, and at a lower HAM cost than just about any weapon in the game. I can kill a huurton stalker in 18s for 5k xps, and could do so before this patch, at very little loss of HAM's and without using any brawler skills. Basically all this required of me was power techniques 2. If I can't take a 50k HAM krayt under the old HAM system then it will at least be a very close fight (unfortunately I won't have time to try this again tonight) and I will be relying very heavily on my TKA abilities to do so.
I stated several times that I was not trying to make any statements about whether TKA's were overpowered and even said I disagreed with the original posters characterization of this. I don't know what else I should say, no matter what I do you will need to construe it as a "nerf call" simply because I am not willing to hide experiences and pieces of information I have that might be used to show that TKA's are actually quite powerful in several contexts.
But do, go on, continue the character attacks, and make me out to be a bad, bad man simply because I give out some information that might be deemed harmful to some (even though it is correct). I will go back to trying to prevent a huge nerf on melee damage to those holding heavy weapons, rifles, etc. =)

Skip the following and read the last if you are not interested in hearing my reasons...![]()
So, the first paragraph was all about the greatness of tka skills relative to fencer. Then you have the balls to say, inyour very next statement, thatyouare not making a statement about TKA being overpowered. Is anyone else seeing this or am i just misreading the whole post ![]()
The 'correct' information was also not gathered with pure TKA skills. You admit to even healing which makes me wonder why you dont go complain about medics.
Now, with all this, i do not believe that you are crying nerf...I am not quite sure what you are doing with this. If you are crying nerf, then you are not doing a very good job. If you are promoting TKA's, i would once again have to say you are not doing a very good job. If you are intending to defend yourself to everyone on these forums, please do a better job of thinking through the posts.
All this rambling leads to one point...i dont like being lied to.
But maybe i could have said that flat out instead of pointing out your errors.

It would be unprofessional of me not to state my experiences. As I state in my latest reply to that thread, I find that I am able to do my job best simply by being frank and brutally honest at all turns. It lends me the credibility I need when it is time to get something done.
Note that far from what my detractors are saying of me, I am not "nerf-calling" in that thread. I am simply offering a counterpoint to what I think are some evasions regarding the power that TKA's do wield.

Go be frank and brutally honest about the profession you're supposed to be representing, instead of mine. Yes, we can do decent pve damage, yes we can heal wounds, and yes we have a powerboost. The powerboost is not comparable to what a good doctor can do, or good food/drink, both of which are available to all. The wound heal is nice, but cannot be performed on anyone other than the practitioner. Do we have an overpowered weapon? Not really, since it does ap1 and kinetic damage, which just about everything worthwile can resist. It does one kind of damage, there are no alternatives. Worried that HAM costs are less or speeds are less than your melee weapons? Last time I checked (which was 4 hours ago practicing a bo kata) weapons and weapon strikes take more energy than empty-hand techniques. The bigger the weapon, the bigger the cost. Weapons are slower than the empty hand.
If you can solo a krayt, good for you. Now go fight an ATST, using the same weapons. Not a fair comparison? Neither is the thread. Just stick to your own business.

the sad thing is that i think people will only be happy when all the classes are all the same in power. so in actual fact there is no real differnce save for the animations or the graphics that we see.
that, in my opinion will be a very sad day for this game.
Its not like one couldn't go BH if they wanted power. why nerf them just because you chose something that youconceptually might like but is unequaled in power? Remember the fact that the Bounty Hunter in the context of swg was a feared person. Just as they described the TKA being a fearsome melee class. I think the real question that you must come to terms with as a player is, What kind of game play do I like? Is it PvP, PvE, crafting, Trade, Soloing, whatever? and then from there skew your character accordingly instead of trying to bring everyone else down.
Of course none compare to the Jedi, the Jedi are supposed to be the most powerful class but even they die and are not immune to all things.
in the context of war, a pure melee has no chance against a ranged player. simply because they get kited all to easy. why? they cant hit while running but we ranged guys can sure fire while moving. so for me, all the rubbish about servers/whatever not being able to compute or dogoes nowhere for me.
SO in this case, how can they be overpowered? I play tka on another server, in fact i find it alot more fun and challenging then the class listed as my sign off. its alot more risky too, unlike range, where i can stay some distance away and pick my shots. so i dont understand why one would say the tka class is more overpowered then the next one in the context of PvE. im sure there are quite a few other classes that we could name that could solo things on their own. in fact, the only sad melee class for now is really, the pikemen who dont really have anything to show for all the effort they put into their class.
I also think that people need to remember that not all TKM's are master brawlers. warcry2 and intimidate2 are supposed to do wonders from what i read and hear from others who have taken that road. the best tka moves are essentially the unamed attacks which are essentially like the headshots ability of the rifleman, leg shot of the carbiner and so on. sure there is dizzy and kd but that only works on npcs. what else? intimidate, warcry and lunge are still brawler abilities which are also open to all other melee classes and in fact are the essential tools used to weaken our opponents.
regarding being overpowered. so if someone were to take the class of master brawler, TKM, master Fencer, defense line of swordsman and pikesman, would that mean that the player is too overpowered? because i can assure you that that would essentiallly be one hell of a tank in the context of PvE. Would that make it wrong? I believe that theres nothing wrong with that at all. this person obviously chose this template for PvE and group playing. in PvP against ranged, while he would be evading alot of the shots, he would still suffer the kiting strategy from ranged players.
What im trying to say is, everyone is given 250 skill pts to play with, you can do whatever you will with them. thats the beauty of it really because it allows you to be creative with what YOU want to be for the way YOU want to play the game so that it is FUN for YOU.
The sad thing at the end of all this is that people just arent happy to see when a class is finally panning out right and that all it takes is for the other classesto be fixed too. At this rate, we will never see the end of fixing and nerfing.
The correspondant's post was in reference to the build on the test server with the new HAM system changes (which have since been removed). This has nothing to do with TKAs on the production servers.
You are taking the post completely out of context - this is a NON-ISSUE.

That is just inaccurate. The brawler correspondent did not say a word about HAM changes. He talked about TKA abilities. He talked about them being overpowered. And he did not limit his comments to test center. He posted on the main board.
The post starts on page 6 of this thread and continues for pages:

You constantly hear about nerfs and just whining and complaining over on the Bounty Hunter boards. It really sucked. But now I see that no profession is immune to this kind of thing.
We might not be immune to nerfs.. But we are immune to whining! We shall be silent!
Remember when Smugglers got low blowed due to all the whining?
We put out a huge uproar, and never got anything changed. We still got nerfed.
It's a shame but i've found it's just easier to wait and see what happens and then try to adapt to any changes if they're made.
Hello. =)
I am not anti-TKA, I have simply stated several examples of things that I know that TKA's are capable of. I am a firm advocate of all brawler elite professions as well as well the novice brawler profession. I would hope that MisterHeavy can back me up on this point. As an example I am currently going to bat on several impacts of the new damage system that I feel are negative for brawlers in general.
All the same I will always strive to give objective statements regarding my experiences of the game. I have offered these in the thread that has been mentioned. I did mention the affect of the HAM changes and their affect on my performance (although this must be tempered with the fact that the krayts and giant kimos I have solo'ed have had their HAMs increased to 50k).
It would be unprofessional of me not to state my experiences. As I state in my latest reply to that thread, I find that I am able to do my job best simply by being frank and brutally honest at all turns. It lends me the credibility I need when it is time to get something done.
