Thread: I love my TKM Here is why.
novice TKA with only 1 skillbox, 0 medic skills, 0 pets
all i wear is body armor(tho will try a full set soon)
my other skills are DE and Scout(no traps)
I can solo white mobs 90% of the time(evenif they gang up on me), I can solo yellow mobs 50% of the time. Havent solo'd a red yet.
here's a tip.. unequip your vibro knuckler before doing a KD, use a status effect, kd, another status effect, (berserk - optional), then re-equip your vk.
I currently see nothing wrong with tka in pve
I love TKA to death...literaly...
PvE i have little complaints..
PVP is mah Bish....the kitting is silly...
Picking fights is one thing but getting picked on is another....
Whats fair is fair !!
1. TKA and Other Melee clases cannot hit on the run correctly....Trying lunge only makes u lose HAM cause you are not close enough (net lag) to do it...Sticking to target is a + . Gun users run around houses, trees, whatever and still are on target (amazing!!) Melee run around like Rocky Balboa trying to catch that chicken in the movie ROCKY !!
2. Run speed is the same for every class...only way it is different is scout skills which most have maxed anyone so no difference there...
3. KD nerf people say...Well to fix the KD by gun users they ruined the only chance of TKA & Melee getting in a few wacks of the enemy PVP..
Thoughts?
I wouldlove to see you solo 2 of the above listed creatures with your rifleman.
Tell me your server. I seriously want to watch.
Because we all know sooner or later you will accidentally have two.
Well, stupidly continues his stupid and poorly thought out posts(hate to break it to you, but you're sounding more and more like Selwynn everday. Don't tell me what a rifleman can and can't do unless you are one, and don't tell me how TKA's are balanced until you've been on the receiving end of a 700 damage last ditch at 64m):
1) Sure, I'll fight 5 of the "above" creatures if you want. 4000+ AE(meaning it hits MULTIPLE TARGETS) strafe shots, and I'm left with more than enough room to make a mistake or two. And if all else fails, I have my grand wrix to tank for me.(Which is better than any TKA/Whatever can tank. Also take note that you can blind/intimidate/stun a target, then let the wrix tank instead of a TKA)
2) Holocron has NO idea what he is talking about. If your basing your continued play on what Holocron says, you're going to be SORELY disappointed. He's also said that mind damage was supposed to be the limiting factor on PvP. He's also said that BH's were supposed to be incredibly strong. He also said that TKA's are currently overpowered. I can continue alllllll friggin day.
3) We can tank, whooo. Fact of the matter is that we tank worse than a pet though. The end result is that we are just a novelty profession, and aren't really required. Find me a TKA who's tanking a krayte dragon, or a gorax, or a Jedi. Yeah, they're all being mobbed by grauls and rancors, not TKA's...
As a last side note, don't quit TKA because what I, or say Pyradius is saying. I, and I'm sure Pyradius, had alot of fun playing TKA's. BUT, don't expect to be superman, because I can promise you that you won't be. And that's what myself and Pyradius have against Stupidfly, is that he's trying to give the wrong interpretation to everyone through some ignorant assumptions, even though he hasn't fully obtained a good grasp of the game and how TKA's currently fit into the scheme of things. But, if you're looking for a good time, and not to be the next Luke Skywalker, I highly suggest TKA.
I agree with Stupidfly. My TKA rocks and hearing the stories on this thread make it sooo much better. It seems the TKA forum is finally getting some positive posts. Rock on. I'd be in game having a blast, then come to the TKA boards and wonder if they were two different classes.
"Wait a minute. I'm a TKA and I'm doing fine, yet all these people on the boards are moaning at how useless TKA is...must be a different TKA they're talking about...." ![]()
I'm glad the TKA forum is starting to change to be more positive and I welcome that change.... The people who are happy with their class need to post more about their strategies....

Stupidfly, if I wanted to post something more useless, I would have copy/pasted your original message that I am sure you struggled over writing out.
Now feel free to pick up your pom-poms and go one hooraying yourself.
Thank you for proving my point again.
This boards needs more positive posts. We have enough people like you without a single original thought in their head. So keepregurgitating the same cynical crap over and over.

I never said anything about what you could or couldn't do. I just said I want to see it. I still do. I won't even get in to that last comment about PvP as I have already said my peace on PvP.

Pets will be nerfed. Hard.
I doubt anyone will quit over you two cynics. This thread generated alot more positive (my goal) post about TKs than negative (you and Pyradius).
None of what I posted is an assumption. I have a much better grasp of the game and MMOs in general than you would know (that statement of yours by the way is what in english would be referred to as an assumption).
With the game and it's professions changing at the rate they are it is presumptuous of you to imply that you have some holy 'grasp of the scheme of things'.
1) First off, how many low-rated posts do you see on the TKA forum? That's right, none. Don't get too cocky just because you got 4 stars, and don't get defensive and insulting like you have been when you get proven wrong.
2) It really shouldn't take me literally showing you that I can kill 5 baz nitch or whatever. If a player can deal 4000 AE damage against 10k HAM creautres, and fires once per second, what are the chances that he'll come out on top? If you really knew how damage worked, and the advantage 64m gives, you'd realise that the above is more than enough information to go off of.
3) Pets will *NOT* be nerfed. I hate to break it to you, but pets are here to stay. They already proposed scaling pets to the level of players, and it was shot down. Rancors will have 10k HAM and 600 damage for a long time now. You're a blind Holocronite, you've probably read his posts on the issue, so i'm not going to reiterate.
4) Actually, what we've been making is inferences. Assumptions tend to be based of stereotypes or beliefs, whereas inferences are based off facts. Facts such as: Pets tank better than TKAs. With such FACTS we can INFER the outcome, such as pets being superior in tanking.
You're just a Holocronite in denial. Not everything will be fixed, TKA's will be inferior for a long time to come.
"If you really knew how damage worked, and the advantage 64m gives"
About 10 seconds.
"Pets will *NOT* be nerfed. I hate to break it to you, but pets are here to stay. They already proposed scaling pets to the level of players, and it was shot down. Pets are here to stay. I never said otherwise, but thank you for stating the obvious. I still say they will be nerfed. Haha, Holocronite! That's a new one. I like that.
"First off, how many low-rated posts do you see on the TKA forum? That's right, none. Don't get too cocky just because you got 4 stars, and don't get defensive and insulting like you have been when you get proven wrong."
Oh, does this post have 4 stars? Didn't notice. Though, now that I look it seems like 90% of the posts have no rating? Is that the same as a low rating? I didn't get cocky and I didn't get proven wrong. How can I be wrong when I wasn't trying to make a point. I was just posting something other than your useless mindless cynicysm. I like myprofession and will continue to.
Maybe if you learn how to play you wouldn't hate TKso much. You seem to be in the minorty now, pal. Think about it.
After hearing all the complaining about TKMs on these boards, I was loathe to actually finish out the profession. I'm glad I did. In PvE, I make a good tank for whatever mobs my PA is fighting, and can tank 3-4 white cons simultaneously without much problem, even with no dedicated healer since I'm also a master medic.
In PvP, I am death incarnate within 5m. Invariably when I kill some poor imperial, all the bystanders will comment, "OMG did you see how fast he died?" I try to always fight on MY terms, not theirs though. I once got attacked by 4 ranged users simultaneously. I threw on my composite armor, judiciously healed myself as needed, and led them on a chase until I finally came to a short alley in Bestine. I was the only one that left that alley alive.
Now, do I still have issues in PvP? Yes, but they're really not TK-specific issues in my eyes. The "out of range" bug when you're standing on someone because the client/server don't agree is arguably the single most annoying one, but it not only affects all melees, it affects commandos now too. I had a commando PA-mate tell me he "felt my pain" the other night, after repeatedly being in range (16m) for his specials on his screen, and getting the "out of range" message. My other pet peeves include:
- LOS sucking completely. They need to fix this, I'm tired of being shot through corners and having pets sicced on me without the owner having LOS to me. Although I do love depriving imperials of their beloved dark troopers.
- Large-sized creatures walking/shooting through buildings. In particular the AT-ST. I should be able to take cover inside a building and not have it shoot me, or hide in there from a rancor if I'm so inclined. Not that I can't take out a rancor on my own if I'm not otherwise distracted.
- Mind damage. Yes this sucks, but it sucks equally for everyone right now. Hopefully they do something about it soon, as Holo has stated Mind damage wasn't supposed to be the deciding factor in a fight.
For those that are curious, my stats are currently 900/400/400/900/400/400/900/500/600, I'm human. See sig for professions.
I must admit that I love being TK (not a TKM yet, only 2,4,4,3). I love going in and mixing it up, up close. And I love the animations.
And I understand most of the changes, although may not agree with all of them. I have adapted by giving up Ranger, giving up Master Scout and all trapping and camping skills, giving up Master Marksman and all marksman skills except pistol and giving up Pistoleer (obvioulsy not all at once). Migrating my stats more in line with medic and workingtoward Master Medic and CH (although prob not going for amaster). Am keeping pistol so I cantry to pull individuals out of a lair.
I only use fairly low level pets (I need the xp, they don't). And I do not use my pets to tank for me. They are treated as real pets and we fight together.Usually, I am the main target, although they have kept secondary rangedtargets off of me until I can get to them. They have kept me alive. But I fight to keep them alive and from taking damage and carry plenty of pet stims to keep them healthy.
Still can't solo most yellow cons (mountain squills, grizzled dewbacks, etc.) but am having good time anyway.
