Thread: Tickling the Kite Master
Tackle is a great idea, but then there should be like a hip toss, or firemans carry. That would be awsome. Ok firemans carry wouldn;t work, way to easy to lift and let friend shoot him, but hip toss would be cool. the next step to tackle kinda. No, not really. cant run while you hip toss. Bummer. Sounded good when I started typing.
BAKER
Maybe so, but you are clearly incapable of recognizing when it does and doesn't occur. We'll let you know. For now, start looking somewhere else other than this thread. As a suggestion, search the area immediately in front of your monitor.

Original poster...good ideas. I also like the idea of those with polearms gettingtrip move. This would not help you to get in range, but rather to stay in range.
To Mac:
If he had mentioned a man tackling (tickling hehe) another man or if the original poster had been female and mentioned how fun it would be to tackle her ex-boyfriend in game, would you then have posted the same comments? I hardly think so. I do not condone tackling anyone outside of consensual competition or other consensual practices, however the fact that a man tackling a woman is sexist, or detrimental to society while implying that man vs man or woman vs man in the same scenario is not....well that's awfully sexist of you.
I know you never implied that you think that way, but I think I can safely assume the majority of people who think like you only think something is wrong in cases where a male is aggressor to a female.
For the record, I am female in and out of game.
I think some sort of anti-kiting move for TKA would be great and probably go a long ways to fix the profession. But, I don't think the devs perceive any thing broken here and therefore aren't likely to 'fix' it.
The dev's idea seems to be that if a TKA isn't already on top of his PvP opponent, then he should be using a ranged weapon instead. I don't think they want a TKA to be able to stop or catch a ranged weapon opponent who is running away.
Dev's come on now, i know someone from sony HAS to be monitoring these discussions, get your lazy asses on here and remove this **edit** post.
This is SOOOO far from being even partly constructive. Mac obviously has some moral issues of his/her/it's own and needs to take this discussion elsewhere. Im sick of trying to get some good feedback on my profession and i spend half my time weeding through crap responces to a HALF-WAY decent attempt at a good post.
So to everyone else, pls keep responding but not to mac cause the more that respond, the more of a reason for a dev to read this post, and the quicker it gets taken off.
Yes Aegu, I agree, so, sinceeveryone agrees that a "tackling"-like move would be good for the game, how do you think we could incorperate it into thegame?
i do however have trouble with your statement that perhaps those who have no experience with rape should be raped so they can understand.
I don't recall posting that, just meant that people should think more.
To address the thread, how about some kind of ground-fighting skill tree? It would more closely mimic martial arts, slove the posture change problem, and let us effectively take down running opponents.
I compleatly agree.
I ve mentioned the use of grpling techniques or submission holds. 90% of all fights end up in some type of grapling, and any expert martial artist should know how to defend himself on such type of combat. This would definetly put an end to kiting. If you get a hold of him then he cannot run.
This is where tackling come in handy. First tackle and then grapple.
Scenario:
Pistoleer attaks TKA, TkA runs in the direction of pistoller who beggins to kite, pistoleer's speed is reduced due to running while shooting while trying to aim at the opponent that follows him, TKA takles oponent succesfuly (65% rate of succes), once in the ground grappling beguins and TKA administers a submission hold (triangle choke hold) and incapacitates opponent in less than 10 seconds.
I would love to see something like this or similar.
Some ideas:
Bone braking-should affect accion pools. If you brake something then there is not much they can do to you or run.
submission holds and choke- affect mind pool. There is nothing more frustrating than being held in a submision hold and not being able to get loose. It messes up your mind. And if a choke is implemented, no oxygen gets to your brain therfore not being able to think, breath etc........quick incapacitation.
Anyone without decent grapling technique should suffer also an action penalty. Try wrestling or boxing someone (if you dont normally doit) for about a minute and see how fatigued you get.
Well hope some of this helps.
Aparently you dont know much about martial arts.
Submission holds ang grapling are not only wrestling moves.
Some examples:
JiuJitsu-Father martial art to Judo, Aiki-Jutsi, Aikido, in some way sambo, brazilian jiujutsu, etc.... All of this arts have submision holds and grapling moves. Not to mention that they are some of the most efective methods of combat nowdays. Not only that but 90% of all fights end up in the floor in some grapling maner. Movies do not reflect a relality.
Tai Chi shuan, Shaolin Tzu Kempo, Shotokan Karate, Escrima, Kali. Okinawan KArate, etc.......they all have grapling moves and holds. While most techniques are hard impact ones consiting of kicks and punches, they have such grappling technique.
In UFC the people that are winning are mostly graplers (usualy jiujitsu, brazilian J, pankratoan among others); there must be a reason for this. The truth is that a good martial artist needs diversity in fighting styles. Just like a comando need diversity in weapons and hand combat, MA's need to be able to defend themselves from all and any possible hand to hand combat.
So my answer is yes we should have takedowns and submission holds. Theese would definetly put an end to kiting.
I apologize if my coment seemed rude, i meant nothing by it. A lot of people think that submission and grapling are in no way martial arts.
MArtial arts include all types of unarmed combat. Including boxing and wrestling.
