tell it on the mountain brother...ground fighting is a crucial tool in any martial artist's bag. the day my little toon wraps a triangle choke on a bantha is the day i die happy

DEV'S,

did you read that one more person in favor of submission holds and grappling.

Lets try and do something about it, might help with the kiting issue and putting us back in a good combat position.

I think any throws would necessitate ground fighting. If I remember correctly from my Jiu-Jitsu days, most all of the throws were meant to follow up with some kind of hold or ground technique. I'm not too hot on Judo being a base because it was developed as a sport/exercise as opposed to a genuine fighting tool. I say the game should go back to the roots of the martial arts when it was more effective than pretty-looking.

I agree every martial arts throw is usually followed by asome sort of submision hold or grapling technique. The purpose being to incapacitate your oponent and make sure he wont get back up to hit you. Usually one only throws and does not follow with aanother technique if the purpose is to get him out of your way and have a n avantage a running away. Of course some throwing techniquea like in aikido or aiki-jutsu do not require a follow grapling move because the throw in itself is powerfull enough to incapacitate.

I think we are all in the right line of thinking lets only hope that our suggestions are heard and applid.

It seems to me that 1) Ranged combat should not be able to run backwards at full speed while shooting and that 2)A TK artist should be able to push or tackle someone to the ground if they are running, which makes perfect sence.

...Or how about a ranged unarmed move which does a fast run and knocks or tackles the target to the ground. You could do it from any position, simply do the move and your character automatically runs toward the target and knocks them down. This also makes perfect sence.

It seems like everyone else agrees with me too...

How about you devs? Will you do what makes sence?

Girls like being tackled. It makes them feel special.

Ithink these are all excellent ideas. Maybe even some kind of flying kick to knock the opponent down... No matter how they implement it, there definitely should be some kind of anti-kite, knockdown. Dev's need to read this.

On a side note, and I won't dwell: where I come from "tackling a hot chick" is like saying I'm going "sharking". It's a figure of speech for going on the pull.

Think about it, if the devs added a whole new tackling/grappling/tripping system, there would be enough content to create the elite-elite profession. With all sorts of new moves, attack modifiers, healing wounds faster, and and maybe even adding damage healing to the meditation line, you would have a great elite-elite profession.
