What are peoples opinions on TKM / M Brawler / M Fencer?
I am primarily a PVE player, and this seems like it might be an effective PVE combination.
Thanks,

Try this again, forum lost my first attempt at a reply, 'submit post' didn't work for me...
I've considered that one, though I'm not totally sure the Pikes line plus the Master Brawler gives enough bonus to be worthwhile. I've also considered (and been testing) the new 'tri-master', TKM/Master Fencer/Master Swords, which seems to work decently, but I'm not crazy about having all my playability tied to how fast and how well I can take stuff down. Kinda like a little non-combat efficacy, you know? I'm considering tinkering with:
TKM
Master Swords
Brawler 4-4-4-0
Fencer 1-0-0-0
Scout 2-0-4-0
and round the last out in Medic, 0-2-1-0 I think. That'd give decent defense and offense, mask scent, excellent creature harvesting, and a little bit of ability to heal myself and others, with bactashot and bactatoss both. I'd considered TKM/Master Smuggler, but this toon is melee-oriented...it's what she's good at...plus while I like the ability to switch between melee and ranged if need be, there really isn't enough advantage from Smuggler to make it worthwhile in my biased opinion. 'Sides, kinda need factories to make stuff for Smuggler, and I'm out of lots
Guess the alt can be a Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer.
Try this ONE more time...starting to look like my Firefox isn't working for the forum, drat, I hate Idiotnet Exploiter...
Leetle update on my earlier post;I respec'ed (R-E-S-P-E-C, find out what it means to me...) to the skills I mentioned; turned out to be a good thing I didn't try to go triple master, I wouldn't have had the points, looks to be an elite-for-elite, novice-for-novice conversion pretty much. Master Commando and TKM didn't give me enough points to fill up three elite profs.
Anyway...got all that done, figured out my toolbar (was interesting seeing the old icons still up on my melee bar), went shopping for powerhammers, and lucked out in finding one with max damage over 1000 points and low speed to boot. So I went and booted some stuff
Solo, just to see. Completely forgot about getting an entertainer buff, no armor on me aside from a PSG that I didn't even need for critter-hunting. Level 78 Quenker Ravagers, decent enough fight when they ganged up on me, got low on health at one point, I've already learned to use the high-action specials sparingly so that part wasn't much problem...had to heal myself a couple times, but I'm getting the hang of 'ctrl-1' and then 'F11' for bacta'ing myself, as well as hitting Improved Center of Being to keep me hard to hit. Success, forget the XP per kill, though I think it was somewhere in the 2000-3000 point range, half that when the double XP time is over of course, also something like 300-400 scout XP from harvesting. Then it was level 79 thunes, pretty decent critters to fight (I've become pretty good at guesstimating what to go for on Dant). I took them out two at a time or singly if I was able to kite one away from the lair while the other was just standing there (got to work on that technique, one of the benefits too of my scout skill, I don't quite fly up hills but they're not much problem), got way down in health at one point--thought I was incapped for sure at one point--but again was able to heal myself to keep from dying. Success, 5000 XP per kill (again half that when the doubling up on XP is done), and I believe close to 500 scout XP from harvesting. Oh, that's 2H XP, don't recall the combat XP, though I believe it was fairly respectable too. I didn't really need the XP anyway, I was just playing. Oh, 18,000+ credits too for maybe twenty minutes' work, not fantastic, but I won't go broke anytime soon.
All this boils down to...I can function pretty well as a TKM/Master Swords/Scout/Medic in the CU. Might even drop the Fencer and get more Medic with the points so I can help out more in groups, may try that tonight since we can still respec anew every 12 hours. I'm reasonably versatile, surviving well on 'adventure planet' Dant without clunky armor and buff dependency. Tonight the real test: Dathomir. Should be fun ![]()
I am TKM/MB/MFencer/Pikes 0040/scout 1000/ some fs tree but can't remember
last night I was only getting 1xp off the huurtons. how in the world are people getting 2000xp??and do you need dancer and docbuffs toget the higher xp??
I always fought before with hardly anything on *winks* so I love this no armour thing. So far in this thread I'm hearing Fencer is not that great. Anyone else able to dabble with Fencer?
Didn't have any dancer buffs (forgot completely...of course, waking up in a Theed cantina and having five people try to duel me while I was respec'ing might've put me off the idea of being in a cantina for the night). I was level 80, fighting either level 78 or level 79 critters.
Obvious quesion...what level was whatever you were fighting? 'Greys', the ones that're significantly below your level (what counts as 'significant' I'm not sure, four levels or more below?) that they present no challenge (supposedly) give only one point of weapon XP and no combat XP.
tkm/mbrawler/mpikes is a sweet template for tanking and defense and pikes actually does pretty decent damage. I was dueling other melee people and smoking em. I have some medic, but healing isn't really that effective... I will be picking up area taunt and improved armor break in swordsman, but i didnt have enough pts, so i gotta grind that (x44x).
Too bad my jedi is useless, but my 2nd slot is good now ![]()
Well I went somewhere completely different.
Pre-CU I was a tri-master TK/Smugg/Pistol and loved it.
Post-CU Im a Master Brawler/TK/Pistol.
It was a hard choice Master Pistol/Smugg but I went with Pistoleer because Smuggler didnt offer the same defense/offense/speed stats that Master Pistoleer has.
I didnt go with another melee prof because when I go armed my innate armor is gone and I dont want to be holding a sword/pike in my hand with no armor on, especially in a tank role going toe-to-toe. I only plan on pulling out a pistol if Im being kited or if I need some crowd control.
Its always nice to see someone come into melee range because they think Im a ranged only char only to find that I pull out a VK and go to town on them.Equallynice when a ranged prof thinks they can stay out of arms reach then I pull out a Pistol and lay into them.
I love beign full of suprises.
I know most of you guys heard 'pistoleer' and started to quesy...but hey I think its all in the way you play.
Ill report back later after I have had plenty oftime to test this template.
I thought about adding the swordsman since it increases ranged and melee defense. However so does Smuggler ( with feign death - is this good? ), Bounty Hunter and Commando. With the last three adding ranged firepower as well ( when I take the necessary marksman branches ). So what do you use to get your defense up and running? What template works best?
I sadly do not have the time to test all, since I will be gone tomorrow morning... for the next two weeks, i.e. respec will be over by then...
Um...innate armor works very well with a weapon in your hand. It's when you put on any *armor* that it goes away. I've used it in Test while using a flamethrower, and in Live I do very well with a powerhammer while wearing BE'd clothing and no armor whatsoever.

Sorry to all those that think the CU is a drag, but it has revitalised my interest in the game and I am really looking forward to it and playing through the 'newness' of it all.
OMFG what are you smoking? THe CU is so terrible i wince playing it. I thought it wast bad when i was playing it on test centre its even worse on live. The took a great game and screwded it so bad i cant even play it no matter how much I try. Anyone else feel this way?
Btw as far as tems go the one i had before the cu runs me 30 sp short now so i think i will go master tk, master swordsman, master fencer.
