Thread: KD nerf on test...
Well considering that I'm the one paying to play, and not the devs, I'm not really interested in what is fine their eyes. They need to be interested in what is fine, and not fine, in my eyses. (My, as in, The Customers)

In MMORPG's, anything that is overpowered or makes the game a lot easier for a particular class is bound to be nerfed... you gotta learn to live with it. And if you only play a TKA because you get knockdown that you can spam 10 times and then have 1 min + of auto attack... Please move on.
I don't see the challenge in spamming KD on a mob and then auto-attacking until it's dead...
You all need to stop whining and get over it, I would expect a lot more nerfs coming in the near future until they reach a sense of balance...

It's very frustrating for me actually. Some professions have already gotten a few dev responses where as we have yet to get one.
I agree Thunderwulf, we should be able to tank a little bit better, and instead of more offensive moves, maybe a couple defensive?
KD should still work but I think it is unfair that it can be stacked so the mobs is gimped for 1 minure or more at a time.
Melee just get no love in this game... I can see that lol.
Also you need to remember that not all things that are changed on TestCenter are changed on the live servers, but it is funny when something gets out that is happening on TC and watching all of the people it would affect squirm ![]()
Just speaking for myself.. I'll hate it if knockdown gets nerfed. I can't imagine getting experience if it's nerfed. Here's the thing, Devs, if you read this... Without knockdown, I can grind away at killing gurrcats and tabages for about 10 minutes and probably get about 3-5k exp. With knockdown, I can fight Nyms and Baz Nitches and get about the same amount of experience in the long run, but the fights are a lot more FUN. I have to worry about whether or not my knockdown will run out before I re-apply it, and if it does, that could get me killed, or at least badly hurt. I almost always have to rest up after a fight before going on to another, because even with knockdown, I get hit, and I get hurt sometimes. (Also, I use my VKs when I knockdown for the speed, and take some HAM damage.) So, does our knockdown really NEED a nerf? Maybe ranged knockdown attacks do, because they don't have to worry about getting hurt. If their knockdown wears off, the creature has to travel about 30m, giving them plenty of time to re-apply it. But Teras Kasi knockdown is just fine as it is.
Now, I bet you won't read this, and I bet if you do it won't sway you, but I hope you'll at least consider it. Knockdown has been nerfed before, and it doesn't need it again. As it is, it will take me some time to level up. However, with knockdown it will be fun, rather than a grind. Like working out, or working out with friends or a good trainer. With just working out alone, it gets tedious and becomes a grind. But with motivation, and the extra strength it gives you, it makes it a fun process. So, please, don't take away my fun.
I dont see this as a nerf, a rather neededfix is more like it, but as Thunder said we do need things to be done with our class to balance this out. By changing KD the way the devs plan to it will now be even harder to reach this balance.
PvE and PvP should be looked at in from different perspectives with regards to KD though, lets hope thats the next thing we gonna see in the patch.
Unfortunately, it does appear true about the opening with something like 10 KDs. I tried it last night, and to my surprise, it works. This needs to be fixed, no doubt.
I also am glad to see more changes to KD.While it will greatly improve the PvP, it will have a large impact on the melee PvE area. However, it may not be as bad as everyone thinks. We'll have to get some hard info on how much HAM it will use for melee types. You can easily control a MOB with just a few KDs in a fight (bar'n you don't get a lot of failures). There are other tools that help as well, such as intimidate & warcry (though I really don't use warcry much). If I feel that my KD is about to wear off, I often try to hit it with an intimidate (unfortunately, they fail a lot though) to lessen the damage I take while I re-apply a KD. The folks that are going to be most upset I feel are the ones spamming KD.
Point is, something is needed to answer the KD abuse. Yes, melee users abuse it to. The tricky part is to balance it so it doesn't destroy our tank capabilities. Right now the only way we can 'tank' is with KD basically.
I don't know what everyone is complaining about, because I don't even HAVE Knockdown yet, and I find this class incredibly fun. Every day my Pistol-wielding friendscomplain because when we group together they don't get any experience from the mobs we are killing because I take them down too quickly, so I have to let them start shooting for a few seconds before I run in and attack because I'm so much more powerful than them. My VK's are sliced poorly and I wear no armor and I STILL kick ass. If Knockdown is as great as everyone says and allows you to take down Red mobs with almost no danger to yourself at all, then I'm GLAD its been nerfed because I like a challenge, not a pointless spamming of a single hotkey over and over to get an easy victory. THAT would be this so called "Experience Grind" that everyone is talking about.
If you don't want to Exp grind, then take a break and do Jabba or Rebel/Imperial missions. Work on a different skill set. Try crafting for a while. The great thing about Teras Kasi is we don't spend a lot of points making Master so you can do a LOT of other things with the game. There's lots to do in this game if you just try different things and don't rely on one Cheap-ass Exploitive special ability that should never been implemented at ALL IMHO.
Selwynn/Laurianna if you can't solo whites and yellows without KD, then I feel for you because I've been doing it since Master Unarmed without any problems.
Like defensive stance in shadowbane....
Something like -50% unarmed damage... +50% melee defense
That would allow us to tank...well...tank better at least.
All that needs to be done is to make it less stackable. I only knockdown twice then wait, and it stacks two. I think two is a good number to have it stack, maybe three. That's the only problem with knockdown--people abusing the stacking ability.
What really makes me mad is this was done to satisfy all the PvP people. They made damage in PvP 75% less on the test center and then people complained it would be a knockdown spam winner situation, so the devs kneejerked again and the same day put in a patch with severe penaltys on knockdowns. It all comes down to PvP in this game. I am almost halfway to master TKA and i am about ready to just throw it all away and go back to ranged weapons because it seems that is what they want us to play and nothing else which really upsets me. God i cant wait until EQ2 comes out!!!
