Thread: Why should we get an additional damage type? Dev's want to know.

In my recent post giving an update to our top 5, I noted that the developers are willing to hear our arguments for why we should get an additional damage type.
I recommend that we ask for restraint damage. Of course, go ahead and make whatever argument you want to make, but martial arts grappling moves like chokes, holds, and locks seem perfectly suited for doing restraint damage, and I think we could make a solid argument there, especially in light of our upcoming presentation to the developers on what we want TKAs to be.
So, if you have the urge to speak your mind on the issue, do so here, and I'll consolidate, post a draft, and take it to the developers.

What I suggest, if it's even possible, is give us a move or two that can do different types of damage. For example, a new move at TKM that does Cold damage instead of standard Kinetic. Make these moves only usable when not wielding VKs, and you have your balance.
cold damage ? bare handed ?
a freezer on your back that you reach for to throw ice cubes ?
stun or electric sounds reasonable to me as it could be done with some equipment like special VKs or gloves (except for trandoshan).
i like the idea of shurikens or poisoned VK blades to deal some DoT as a TKA.
Draconus03, by your own logic then, it would be unfair that all you have to do to kill a Pikeman, Heavy Swordsman, Pistoleer, Carbineer.....is to get good buffs, and good composite too? I think you fail to realize the resists associated on composite armor. A TKm can dish out damage alot faster than any other profession, that is one of the tradeoffs. Yea, I know Pikeman, Heavy Swordman, and Rifleman can do more damage from their greater AP weapons. But they do it slower.
However, with the new 39% stun resist armor, regular Stun Batons don't do that great a damage and are AP0 against such layers and of course the Tangle pistol is laughable. Jawa Ion Rifle on the other hand is still pretty bad.
So thinking along those lines Tk's should get blast damage....swordsman get it!
Flame damage...commando's get it!
ect...ect...
You are playing a "Unarmed" combat profession. I'm thinking there are things about being a Tkm that you like yes? And of course from the unlimited threads of class complaints I see things you dont like. But what it looks like people are trying to do is take the positives from playing a different class, and putting all those benefits into one class...It makes no sense.
Why dont we just have a class that can kd/dizzy, hit for stun with any weapon, have a swordsmans mind hits, a fencers defense, can use a flame thrower, can area disease, and poison, can use a T21, and of course do eye shots with a pistol....Then maybe we will quit bitching about the class CHOOSE to play...(note the key word choose)
Classes must have checks, and balances. You cannot be perfect at everything. If you envy what another class does, or the skills it has....then drop your current class, and start the one with the skills you covet.

well think on it like this we are the only class in game that can do only one type of damage melee or otherwise
I would personally love to see some sort of type of attack other than Kinetic.
I am not a TKA yet, but once i get about 65k more unarmed combat, i will be a novice TKA. I've been reading up on them, and they seem to be a profession that i really will enjoy doing.
as far as a type of attack, some of them i think would be just plain out of the question, such as acid, energy, electric, heat, cold. I do really like your idea about restraint attacks. I've never used or even seen what restraint attacks do, but i really like that idea of using things like chokes to manually warcry them so that others in a group can get some shots in on the target. or possibly have a loot item or weaponsmith created weapon that is a VK that is similar to the Grooved 2-Handed Sword you get from the Emporer at the Imperial Theme Park on Naboo. This VK could cause bleeding.
well, there's my 2 cents.
My suggestions would be maybe something along the lines of a "Crippling Strike." Crippling Strike is a kind of move as if you kick someone in the knee and tore their ACL or tore their rotater cup. In a fight its going to slow them down alot but not take them out of the fight. In game, this damage would be more focused onaffecting how fast they dodamage. It allows a TKA to set up aopponent for potential more damage. And since we are aiming for beign a all out hand to hand profession, a setup move isgreat as a precursor to UnarmedHit3 and other TKA manuevers. This damage works actually increasing the ticks between attacks from the opponent. Maybe make this a two stage damage type in which CripplingStrike1 does a random multiplier of 1.5 to 2.5 times the speed and CripplingStrike2 (master TKA) does 2 to 3.5 times the speed.
I agree with having an aditional damage type and some people brought up some pretty good points
I think that if we dont get another damage type we should at least get a different type of weapon to use other than vibroknucklers
