Teras Kasi was developed to kill Jedi... so yes, it should be more powerful

looks like good ideas but then the other professions would complain and they'd nerf us again

"Teras Kasi are lethal, nearly impossible to knock down or unbalance. Facing an opponent armed with ranged weapons, high-level abilities enable him or her to evade blaster fire and close in quickly, bringing his or her enemy swiftly to the ground."

Well, if the other professions want Grandmasters they can have them too... it's only fair. So all classes could get stronger and more streamlined.

This sounds like prime-time space expansion additions to the game! If something like this will be implemented, it will happen then. But I'm all for making TKA what it was meant to be. I'm not sure how much I like the thought that this whole new tree is only good for PvP, but this feels like a step in the right direction.

I was also thinking after reading that thread about the TKA / Medic / CH who didn't know what to do with his exp, there is a solution: have moves in the master skill box that use experience instead of HAM (or have it use some HAM, but since it's burning exp, too, it shouldn't be a lot). This won't rekindle a dwindling interest in SWG in general, but it does make exp gathering something that still has merit... Thunderwulf, are you listening?

I like the grand master idea as well, so here's a bump.

As for the TKA story I have been pointed to this thread and link. It is a good story and really helps RP the toon.

Though I love it, I hate Teras Kasi range even as it is. 15 meters is 45 feet. About 7 and a half full grown men could lay down across that distance, and I don't know anyone who has arms that long. Though, meters are exaggerated in this game. At 2m it looks like I'm standing face to face with a person, and I can do a regular unarmed hit at 12 feet. But, ahh well. Teras Kasi Grandmaster should never happen.

Can you show me where it is written that TKA was developed to kill Jedi and that they are more powerful? Several people have suggested this but none of them have been able to back it up with proof. The best I have been able to find is a story about a TKM being able to beat a Jedi TKM who wasn’t using any Jedi powers, in other word just another TKM. This rumour that TKM are more powerful than Jedi is just that, a rumour.

This is actually well known EU. This would include source materials ranging to stuff from West End Games to some of the books/comics. Well - at least that the order was CREATED to be a counterbalance to the Jedi. They weren't actually created to 'kill' Jedi, just to put a check on them. Within the boundaries of plausibility, they ARE a challenge to Jedi in a one-on-one confrontation, just as ANY super-skilled combatant might be. The strongest of the TKM are supposedly able to actually resist force powers, thus reducing any fight between a Jedi and one of these top-skilled TKM to a sheer battle of physical training and skill. Good as Jedi are with a Light Saber, it is plausible that a TKM could, under the right circumstances, beat a Jedi in a melee fight. After all, TKA training focuses on what could be called personal force mastery; a true TKM is as 'in touch' with himself and his surroundings as any Jedi. The difference, of course, is that a TKM can't really project The Force in the way a Jedi can. I suppose a good analogy would be to think about male and female athletes Vs. the common population, then Vs. each other. A tremendously skilled female athlete will out-compete the vast majority of the male population; however, an equally skilled male athlete will tend to beat them, with occasional exceptions depending on the sport and the specific circumstances. Similarly, atop Teras Kasi Master is supposed to be a serious challenge to all but the most powerful and skilled of Jedi, and TWO OR MORE of these ultimate TKM's would be a threat even to a powerful Jedi.

AS FOR SWG, though...we won't see this happen. Far too many of a TKM's 'abilities' are not implemented, most importantly that legendary ability to resist force powers. I expect that a Jedi in SWG would literally destroy a TKM in the same way a TKM destroys a Krahbu on Corellia. Furthermore, SOE has gone to great lengths, with the blessing of LucasArts, to maintain the 'mystery' and desirability (and rarity) of being a Jedi, and of portraying Jedi status as the ultimate iteration of character progression. Heck, you can't even TRY to be a Jedi for the most part; you have to (somehow) earn even the ability to ATTEMPT it. Creating a class that is truly a near-balance to a Jedi that ANY account can get to would seriously undermine the desirability of Jedi.

Thus, a well-implemented Jedi will likely be quite effective in one on one PvP. They would be able to block incoming blaster fire, and cut to ribbons anyone who was actually stupid enough to close to melee range with them...and possibly even force-drag people trying to escape them INTO melee range.

About the only enhancement I expect to see for TKA is more of a nerf to other skills than a strengthening of TKA. It is downright unsupportable and inexcuseable that a PISTOL user is more effective in melee than a TKM. (Can you say 'Pistol Whip' with me?) Once the ability of ranged weapon users to out-melee a melee specialist is removed, we might begin to see a place in PvP for TKA's...but there will always be the truth that if you let a range user begin combat at range, you are likely to take a dirtnap.

As it should be.

I would like to see a Masters have the ability to do a

Death Blow

Whether you agree with the Grandmaster idea or not, I think it will happen. Like in EQ when they added AA points and 5 more levels (well, more than that, but just in PoP). Someday they will have to consider making a VERY high end game, and I think this would be the best way to do it.

As with the DeathBlow move, that'd be cool, but what about high end moves that have high HAM costs... but they actually deal wounds, not damage. It would be comparable to somebody breaking someones arms in a fight, or even physically removing the arm. Like when Kenobi cut that guys arm off in the cantina. That would definately be a wound attack. A healable affliction in this day and age, and an interesting concept.

Also, I think that Jedi will be superior even in non-one on one scenario's. Yeah yeah, throw enough shooters at anything, and yes, there will be a death. I base this on the movies where a small handful of jedi took on many attackers, and from the game as well. In beta I witnessed a GM playing as a Jedi DESTROY at least 20 people (easily more), all attacking... and all meeting their death. Yeah, it was a GM, but I am sure there was some fact behind it. Anyway, I just hope Jedi's are superior in almost EVERY situation.

Maybe when you have incapacitated someone, you hear a voice that says "finish him" and then you have the opportunity to inflict a deathblow or some kind of finishing move like mortal combat.

It would be nice if we actualy had some book names that contain all this TK info and history.

The information from WOC books can be put on a 1/2 A4 paper... One part is mentioned in the Power of the Force book dealing about Jedi, and is mentioned that one Jedi Master is also a Teras Kasi Master. The other part is in the Hero's guide.

I hear a lot of people talk about info in some obscure books, but no names to check it up.

One thing i dont see happening is that somebody who is not force sensitive can control the force enough to stop a force sensitive trained person in some way.

Stoping a normal sword with your bare hands.... well i would not personaly try it but hey its a game *grins* but a lightsaber just slices and dices and there is no blocking.

So i trow the glove down, name the books, comics etc that contain any info on Teras Kasi...
