I have read a lot about how TK have no range, are poorly suited for PvP and should be just a rung or 2 below jedi in power.

So here is just one possible alternative. Create a new skill tree to add to the current TK ladders. I personally would love to be a pure TKA, without a secondary class, so to prevent confusion i will use the term Grandmaster to identify the highest rank in the new skill tree.

This skill tree is only assissable when you reach master (or the current master skill bar could be renamed). Upon reaching Master you can decide if you truly want to be a pure TKA. if so, you can quality for skills in the Grandmaster tree.

This could include a skill set like "pre-cognition" which gives the TK superhuman reflects and increased the miss rate for melee and ranged opponants.

Inproved Physical conditioning : a combination of scout like terain navigation and overal movement speed (+toughness) (includes a /stick command and burst run bonuses)

Inner Force - this set sparks the TKA to draw upon the force in a primative manner allowing him to become resistant to force users, and could allow the TKA to mentally and phyically slow down opponants to half running speed at master level (combine with the above skill and kiting is no longer a impossible problem)

Mental projection - the TKA learns the basics of extending him mental power outside the limitations of his phyiscal self. able to project that inner power into a force that can strike opponents not in typical melee range - max range 20m

Current skill pts allow for most players to be able to master 3.5 professions, to balance this a little have the Grandmaster tree have very high skill pts and xp requirement so that only the truly deicated would take this path. In fact the tally of skill pts cost to get GM should take up all 250 skill pts, thus creating a pure tka should the player want this.

The GM tree should have no increase in damage (or very little) it should be gear specifically to improve the PvP experience by creating a being that can dazle their opponents physically and mentally.

This would also NOT make the TKA uber just A LOT more balanced. Opponents can still try to kite us and use their special attackes, however when they let us get close they should find it very hard to get away. it is at this point we can unleash our new combos and show them the power of Teras Kasi.

20m? A bit much dont you think? With the kind of power a TK holds and being able to land a punch at 20m is crazy. 5m at the most. Im a TK and even I think that's crazy. Glad your thinking though, no flame here.

I was thinking that you would have full damage at 5m and half damage at 10 and 1/4 damage at 15.

no damage over 20m.

But the number 20 is just a thought and can be altered easily to balance the ability a bit.

some great ideas man, too bad it will never happen. i do agree though, TKA needs to be beefed up, we are horribly ineffective in PvP......

Can you show me where it is written that TKA was developed to kill Jedi and that they are more powerful? Several people have suggested this but none of them have been able to back it up with proof. The best I have been able to find is a story about a TKM being able to beat a Jedi TKM who wasn’t using any Jedi powers, in other word just another TKM. This rumour that TKM are more powerful than Jedi is just that, a rumour.

it would be cool if TKA had a hit that caused the opponent to see 4 of him, then they wouldn't know which one to attack kinda like that skill in WC3's blademaster

background aside,

As most martial artist in RL know there are those take dabble in the Art and those that live the art. The Art becomes a way of life and even a focal point that influences our beliefs, attitudes and life choices. Since TKA is the SW equilent of the MONK class we should should have the option to more that dabble in the profession...we should be able to become the Art.

A new tree that allows for a pure TKA which is balanced in a broad array of skills with take this Art into a whole new level of RPing possiblities.

IMHO new tree will becom nessary for ALL professions. I mean in EQ it took a long time to level to lvl60 while in SWG people can become a Master in almost any profession in a month (look at how many Masters are walking around aready).

When they max out the xp for a master lvl skill (ie unarmed xp for a TK master) what happen to the xp? we just accumulate it and can do noting with it! What happen when I get TK master status...yes I can kill a lot of creatures etc...but I know the xp is useless so not to waste the XP I may pick up Pistol so that I can continue to gain in somthing. This necessity is very sad considering it only 1 month into the game.

I think some of the changes being made are gonna make the "Masters in a month" become less and less likely. Its quite a shame though, as plenty of people seem to have already taken advantage of the easy xp and "exploits" (i use quotes because lets face it, knockdown wasnt a friggen exploit pre-nerf, just a poorly implemented overpowered friggen skill) to acquire master titles. I guess thats what happens when you release an obviously unfinished product. Anyhow, as to the "Pure TKA" what they need to do is encourage people to take up the lower professions (brawler, marksmen etc) by making the abilities granted from mastering these lower professions worthwhile. Give me a reason to master brawling, so that complements TKA more so than it does. That way you force people to make a tougher decision. Do you want to be a jack of all trades or an uber TKA, perhaps the best in the land? *Shrug* anyhow, as it is, I don't think they could possibly give us anything any more powerful than we already have. TKA is **edit** near the king of pve, and perhaps is rightly gimped in PvP because of that title.

Ive been hunting alot with marksman lately and most of them seem to be scared of me. The other night I was hunting with an Expert Bounty Hunter and the guy was petrefied of me. He didnt want to duel because he knew if I got close enough to him the fight was over. If any Tk gets up close to a marksman the fight will go towards the TK. We just have to be smart and find a way to get close up on these guys.

I remember the first time I dueled a marksman. He was a master marksman. The first time I didnt get near him and he inaped me because of my mind. I didnt have one ounce of health or quickness gone. The second fight I managed to get close enought to hit him and I almost beat him, but once a gain he drained my mind and I didnt lose any health or quickness.

I've toyed around with the idea of a 3rd tier skill tree. I think it's a great idea. Unfortunately it will have a "tunnel vision" sort of aura around it. "So what do you do?" "I punch things." "That's it?" "Well... yeah!" I mean, I am all for a 3rd tree. And yes it is easily roleplayed. Shao Lin monks live and breathe, and possibly eat, their art. Spending their time honing their bodies not to get to beat someone's butt, but rather to reach "spiritual enlightenment." I think that's a great idea. Maybe at the Novice GM level give us a new ability that you earn XP in. So that moving up the tree involves ALOT more than just killing things. Meditation, UnarmedXP, CombatXP, and a fourth one. I was about to say you never hear of anyone living and breathing a rifle, then I thought about competitive marksmen. And the same could said about Armorsmiths as well too.

Also, I am VERY interested about the Teras Kasi being designed to kill Jedi. You say it's in the books... Well, throw us a bone and tell us which book. I am on my 5th book and still have seen nothing about that. If this is true, please let us know.

Anyway, 3rd tier skill tree/Grandmaster level = Good Idea IMO

Another thing, and this is probably a really bad idea, but it'd be interesting...

It's been mentioned that TK's could get the ability to force of will and be able to do ranged like attacks. Similar to Force Push etc... Why not at the GM level we get something like an Energy Ball attack. hehe. That kinda sounds kinda lame, but I am just brainstorming here. Maybe to balance it out, make it have a high HAM cost, or maybe it physically gives you wounds to use it. I didnt want this to sound like a Kamehameha wave, or even a Ken/Ryu type attack, but I have heard about martial artists elder master being able to focus their chi and attack something beyond the reach of their fists.

Just a thought... as dumb as it may be...

(By the way, I really like this thread. No complaining, just honest thought)
