Thread: legitimate reasons to gripe...otherwise shut up. *peace*
"and i honestly dont understand why u think my topic is broad? i state specifically the issue of over doing it, *with vk;s and armor* i state exactly why i think the devs did the nerf.....and i state exactly that im tired of people yelling about being incaped by blue coned creatures."
It's not so much that I think it's broad (even though it is) it's that I don't necessarily agree with you. Myself and several other TKA's have been incapped by 'blue' conning mobs since the last patch. We don't wear armor, we don't use VK's with special moves. But, according to you,we just 'suck'.
Really,a lot depends on the mob in question .... and luck. You may think that at TKM should 'own' blue con mobs all the time, but that's not necessarily true --- especially in the high-end game, where mobs hit for 600+ damage just for fun.
There is a lot that can go wrong in asplit secondthat can either mean a good XP kill ... or a long walk from the cloning center. If KD is resisted more than twice during combat, things can go bad. Ifwarcry is resisted repeatedly, things can go bad. If the mob is resistant to stun and intimidate, things can go bad. If you get a bad heal, things can go bad .... Sure, most of the time, 'blue' con mobs are easy to take. But getting 'smacked' bythem (after this last patch)does happen on occasion, though rare. (Especially if the mobsassist.)
I don't mind that you've posted your opinions on the matter. We're all entitled to that much. I just don't necessarily agree with you, hence the curiosity about your TKA level, what mobs you're fighting, etc.
Detail are what make the world go 'round.

and yes, sorry forgot to mention it, we do have the target comand. use the tab key, then place "follow" in a hot key position *is that what they are called?* anyways, then use them together.
"you stated that we are at a dissadvantage when at distance, and i stated *as to the "duh" issue, that we MUST be at a dissadvantage in this area....and that using that as a base for your argument cannot be done because by doing so you are arguing against the profession itself."
I agree that we must be at a disadvantage when at a distance. In fact, I'm a strong proponent of this philosophy. I've never said otherwise. Hence, I don't seewhy you are saying thatI am "using that as a base for my argument ..."
If you (again) reread what I initially posted, I said, "So, the 'default' advantage of supposedly being an effective combat profession 'up close' should be totally disregarded when reviewing the need to equip/unequip VK's, even though using VK's clearly influences this 'default' advantage?"
Clearly, I am talking about our supposed ADVANTAGES (while up close) being influenced by the use of VK's, and the fact that such an influence cannot (and should not) be simply glossed over.
My personal view is that VK's should be either removed from the game, or their HAM costs should come down in line with the HAM costs of certain ranged weapons. It's one small bit of fairness that we deserve. In light of the 30 second timer 'nerf' that's coming, this becomes an even more important balance issue.
"and no, we cannot use the 'default' adv's and dissadv's of a proffesion because they are not equal to begin with and should not be equal, all variables made to the argument must not change the base equation, or else the equation is invalid. a + b = c(a being tk, b being ranged, c being outcome of pvp)but we cannot then add a/d + b = c. and expect it to be equal to the original equation. all other arguments must leave a + b = c. does that make any sense cause im almost losing myself on that one. "
Again, my belief is that the professions can be 'balanced' by taking a gestalt, holistic view of their various strengths and weaknesses. The problem with your 'balance equation' is that it attempts to quantify a rather subjective situation. How do you quantify 'kiting'? How do you quantify downtime? How do you quantify prone position modifiers for ranged weapon users? How do you quantify riflemen having head shot attacks, but no way to heal mind in combat? It is not as 'cut and dry' as you make it sound. (That's my opinion, of course.)
What I do see, however, is that the SOE team is almost taking your advice, Tayse. They are not even considering (quantifying) things like 'kiting' and the need for a betterunarmed lunge. They are not quantifying combat effectiveness and downtime/healing costs. Because they are doing exactly what you want them to do--making specific, discreet, modular changes--we loose abilities left and right simply because their value has never been assessed (by the devs) in the proper context. SOE says: "Heck, just make HAM costs for KD cost more ... yeah, that should work!!" Of course, they never really realized that TKA's used KD more for DEFENSE (not offense) in the high-end game.
Sometimes, taking a step back, and looking at things through aNewtonianlense is more appropriate than wildlysmashing every littleatom together and hoping, blindly, that it all turns out well in the end.

oh and i forgot, use tab and place "follow" in a hot key position. then place "attack command" or whichever combat comand u wish into another hot key....so i use tab then (for example) f1, then when in range, f2 for knockdown to start the fight. works great in big battles. though the target must be viewable on your screen for tab to work.
"and yes, sorry forgot to mention it, we do have the target comand. use the tab key, then place "follow" in a hot key position *is that what they are called?* anyways, then use them together"
Sure. I have the same macro-key. Every TKA has it, I would imagine.
But, as you SHOULD know, Tayse, the /follow command does NOT satisfy the need for a /stick command.
Ranged weapon users auto-respond/auto-target to attacks. We cannot do that unless the target is right next to us. And even though we might have a little 'attack-follow' macro key set up, it never places us close enough to use attack against a kiting opponent, be it an NPC or a PC.
But you know this already ....
"You think that's right, and fair, and balanced -- in spite of the fact that we already suffer five times as much damage/downtime than ranged weapon professions, not to mention being disadvantaged while at range, and without anything resembling the easy tab/auto-target crap that other professions have? While I'm running at top speed, trying to dodge balster fire, and targeting my adversay manually, I'm supposed to also make sure that my VK's are unequipped?"
im sorry but i dont see anything in there about close combat.
honestly, im loosing my train of thought on this one.
sorry, it sounded like u didnt know about the macro. some people dont, and i didnt know if u did. thats all.
and yes i am familiar with all the problems with our profession, and yes i beleive the simple "kiting" issue should be fixed and dont understand why it isnt. and yes i understand that most of the unarmed special attacks are worthless and the devs are using the fact that we have these attacks as to weaken our case that we have problems and are at major dissadvantages.

metherian, again, im getting lost in this whole argument, we both have valid points, we both seem to know how to argue and discuss correctly....but this whole thing is getting away from my main point of telling people to just work it out, try new things, stop lying to further their cause, stop crying cause they cant wear total body armor and vks and do special moves and be like robocop. i never meant to say there werent problems, or that some were more important than others...i preach on here all day how stupid it is that the simple issues i mentioned above arent fixed.
"im sorry but i dont see anything in there about close combat."
That's because that was from my initial post about VK's being equipped/unequipped.
You later began the talk about default advantages, to which I responded: "So, the 'default' advantage of supposedly being an effective combat profession 'up close' should be totally disregarded when reviewing the need to equip/unequip VK's, even though using VK's clearly influences this 'default' advantage?"

That's fine, Tayse. I understand your perspective. However, I would caution against using blanket labels (like 'liar', 'whiner', etc.) for anyone who has legitimate concerns over the very things you claim aren't happening, likebeing incappedby high level, blue con mobs. This game is like a book: we all experience it differently, at various levels of interaction and challenge.
one on one or even one on2-3 blue conned creatures still shouldt be difficult for a tk. sure large groups can be hard...that is specificly stated in the manual. at no time hassoe said otherwise.
its posts like *a butterfly baby killed me cause i used knockdown 20 times on its lair* these are the ones that get me started.
or when someone says they were incaped by a wort. its just not true, or its a bending of the truth, and im just saying that im tired of hearing it.
Hey tayse if you are going to be a little child and quote me at least do it right.
Read the freaking post. Are you retarded, and unable to understand it?
I used knockdown on a lair to illustrate to my brother and a guild with no TKAs how bad the KD ham cost is. Most of the people think that TKA was overpowered and needs to be nerfed.
THAT is unti they say my ham cost.
You are the idiot bending the truth. I didnt use KD 20 times. I used KD 1 freaking time!
And now you think I am lying?
Tayse please do me a favor and do not buy WoW. Stay in the wonderland of SWG.
I invite anyone to go read my post and this crap by tayse, and tell me who the lier, and truth bender is.
Pathetic
