no, you are simply lieing! thats a plain and utter fact! unless, are you fully armored? with vk's on? then, if might have hurt your ham THAT much....but i KNOW that when i use my vk's and use knockdown ONCE that IT DOESNT EVEN COME CLOSE TO LETTERING A BABY BUTTERFLY KILL ME. AM FROM CORELIA AND FIGHT THOSE BUTTERFLIES ALL THE TIME.

YOU ARE SIMPLY LIEING! UNLESS U ARE WEARING TOTAL BODY ARMOR AND AND VK'S AT SAME TIME, THEN AND ONLY THEN COULD IT HAVE CAME EVEN CLOSE TO HURTING YOUR HAM THAT MUCH THAT A BABY BUTTERFLY COULD HURT YOU. THATS A BOLD FACE FACT!!!! ITS THAT SIMPLE! IF U WERENT WEARING ARMOR THEN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY IN HELL THAT A BABY BUTTERFLY COULD KILL U AFTER USING KNOCKDOWN ONE TIME.

"To be honest I could give 2 **edit**s about PLing masters that are bitching about this. You shouldn't of been a Master TK in a month.

Quit already, you won the game."

When did I ever say that I was a master?

And, what exactly am I 'bitching' about. I rather methodically explained how I have seen blue conning mobs incap TKA's. If you can't understand the difference between reserved observation and 'bitching', then I cannot help you and you probably shouldn't be posting to these forums in the first place. Really, this sort of 'kneejerk' commentaryis quite uncalled for and serves only to underscore your apparent lack of etiquette.

So, the game 'ends' after you have achieved master status in a profession? Gee, I guess a good 60%+ of the player base must be a bit sad. The truth is this: it's always been easy toachieve mastery inat least one profession in arelatively short period of time, especially if the player focuses on said profession to the exclusion ofmany other skills. It's been this way since beta. You thinkthat's wrong. Guess what? A lot of people in Beta thought that, too. What did SOE do?

Nothing.

So, don't come here and take the'high ground' with your argument, especially when it's a moot point that has been considered and debated by gamers evidently more informed that you.

Oh, and thanks for the belligerent response, by the way. Now I won't have to think twice about ignoring your callow, hind-brained posts in the future. Not that I plan to stick around this forum much longer, given the fact that many of the previous concerns are'dead issues' at this point, and have become easy targets for SOE apologistsand propoents ofthoughtless opinion.

But, hey, vent away--I really don't give a *$&#@!

does everyone forget the basic scheme of things with tk??? i mean come on now, i can understand part of the vibro knuckler nerf where they took them away from all but the tk novices... i was about half way to tk novice when the patch came out, now i can't even win an unarmed fight against a vynock because unarmed and naked, berserk kicks in after the match is over, and lasts about 3 seconds in the fight... i'm ok with that, i'll just attack corellian butterflies for the final 30k that i have to get exp wise to get tk, but i remember somewhere reading that in an unarmed match, the tk masters are supposed to hold their own against a jedi... all i see with this nerf after nerf stuff is that they're nerfing everything with the exception of the ranged professions... look at the t21 rifles, they are some of the most powerful rifles in the game, and they get improved on, the pistoleer profession is getting a bump in it's class, and they continue to nerf tk... i'm still going for tk even though i'm about 1k away from pistoleer merely for the hope that they will pull the nerfs in the next month or two and work out these little bugs they have... i have 6 vibro knucklers and can't use a single one, i guess that's kinda why i'm goin for the tk profession as well, but i'm seein that the way tk is going, i'm definitely not goin for jedi if i ever unlock the fs slot... if tk is gettin nerfed this bad, think of how inneffective a jedi master will be...

So your complaint now is that babies hit as hard as pets. Thats a completely different issue.

Yeah this is kind of a near perfect example of an informative thread gone bad. The original discussion was quite good but after reading and skipping through all the flaming I forgot what the subject was about. Too much bickering ... too little harmony.

I have yet to make a character without both range and melee. And I'd definitely like to create one for the fun of it to be all melee, since I enjoy those close battles rather then ones from a far but I wouldn't create this character not knowing that he will probably have a pretty good disadvantage with ranged attacks and namely PvP. I don't think there will ever be a true fix that completely puts melee on the same level as range. It would be too "fantasy" for this fantasy game.

It's like the riflemen. You almost have to pick up some other skill line like pistol or melee because no matter how hard you hit, when a creature closes in on you, it'll be like you trying to shoot the moon ... miss all the time.

So should riflemen get some Rifle Stock bludgeoning skill? I don't know, I just always knew that using a rifle would make you slower in your rate of fire and more prone (no pun intended!) to close attacks.

Same with TKA. I chose it because when you do get up close and personal you'll be menacing. But at a range, well, hope you're good at dodging bullets and laser fire. If I were looking for balance in combat, I wouldn't look at TKA alone to carry me. I'd definitely pick up another combat class. That's the beauty of this game's skill system. You aren't that Final Fantasy black belt that sucks with those iron nunchuks until you reach a level that you can effectively use your bare hands. You have a choice to mix and match lines.

And I kind of see balance as not necessarily equality. I see balance as in where I'm weak you could be strong, but where you're weak I could be strong.

The scenario that I'm about to re-tell actually happened. It's long because I want to include every detail that I can recall to avoid the otherwise inevitable "What? That can't happen, you're just a **edit**ty player!" remarks. If you want the long and short of it skip to the bottom.

After the update, I logged on to Radiant to my TK as one happy hombre. I only needed a mere 3k combat xp and I would qualify for Master TKA. I was on Dantooine from the fighting I had done the night before. Immediately I headed out of town to the nearest Huurton lair for some quick, easy xp. I draw one Huurton out (very, very easy blue con pre patch) and knock him down (No knucklers or armor of any sort equipped), re equip VK's and bludgeon him for 11-14 seconds like usual and then reapply KD as necessary. The huurton dropped quickly, but I then took a glance at my HAM bar and was amazed. How could the little turd have hurt me that much in the few seconds between my KD's? Whatever, I heal up and then proceed to draw out my next victim, a Huurton Howler (white con).

I knock him down right away, wait as long as I can, do it again, rinse repeat. Everything was fine after four KD's, with the Howler a bit above half health, when I see a system message declaring "You do not have enough Health to do that". Jigga WHAT? I look up and see that I have almost no action left. I pop a stim B and continue, and as I use the last KD that my mind bar will allow, I realize that the beasties aren't hurting me, I'M hurting me. The Huurton Howler then incap's and DB's me.

I shake my head in disbelief, and make the quick jog back out to the Howler from the Cloning Center. This time he's got a friend with him, as the regular Huurton I had killed earlier was back. No biggie, I charge in and KD both of them, then lay in on the Howler with my VK's. After reapplying VK at the last possible instant twice more to both of them, I ran out of HAM, both Huurton's got up and killed me.

So after two trips out, I could barely take a blue and got absolutely owned by a white. I sat down and pondered exactly what I was going to be a "master" of when I couldn't even solo anymore. I logged out, made a new character on a different server and haven't been back to my TK since. He still needs 3k combat xp to master, but who would want to be a master TK now? I could accept all of our shortcomings when fighting PvP and other ranged opponents, but making us incompetent boobs in close too was just too much. I bought a new computer to play this game and nowadays I find myself using it for everything except SWG. At least message boards and music don't get "nerfed".

Thanks for the one word response. Adapt? To what? To being bent to a group of devs "vision" for my class, which forces me to be a doctor or chef (where's the variety and fun in THAT?!?!)? To being completely inept at close combat, which is supposedly "our thing"? To not being able to do things that ranged classes can? Or more specifically, to being the most handicapped profession in game? Oh yeah, I'm going to get used to THAT without speaking my mind.

When (or if) you hit master TK you'll finally feel cheated when you realize that you could be twice as powerful and have spent a lot less time getting there to boot. My advice to aspiring TK's is to get out while you still can.

Adapt. Pfft.

everyone in the game can go hide behind a 10k hit point "pet of the week", but god forbid a tka can run in and knockdown a graul to get some exp in the 20 person party. No that would be FUN
