UNARMED close range
Of course. I don't think an unarmed marksman at close range or an unarmed swordsman is going to do any good...I still don't see why TKA should be the "best" close range.

Our VKs have armor piercing.
Have you ever fought anyone in pvp that has on 80% - 90% comp armor? AP1 does lil to nothing to these people. Same goes in pve AP1 kinetic doesnt do much to something with 100% kinetic resist like some of the fs mobs or creatures. Do I think tk's need another damage type nope, it would be nice but this is what balances us in pve and pvp. I picked up Fencer to compliment my TK skills and for the Stun batons.. granted stun batons have crap stats mostly but they shred thru comp faster than a TKM can.
LOL -- what server are you fighting the GCW on b/c I want to go there, if your fighting a smart player there KD is highenough you arent knocking em down anyway. And I have 207 damage vk's still kill myself faster than I kill another player in high resists armor.
thats if you can get them on the floor first. i think before you try to make all melee classes equal, you ebtter try and find out a bit more about what each class is about and where they are in the SW universe. not all classes are made to be equal. as many have put, the TKA class is nice now. fixed and balanced. it is the other melee classes, especially so for pikeman that need to be fixed. and i totally agree with someone who remarked that instead of trying to bring down a fixed class, work towards getting your class fixed.
Time has shown with this game that a gimped class becomes pretty uber/fixed before being taken backa notch. Commandos being a great example, Bio Engineers and now on the horizon, Driod Engineers
You have succinctly and eloquently put what I have been saying on other boards, (if you want a good read, go to the pistoleer or the BH forums) If you thought commandoes held the monopoly on flame wars, think again
Thank you for posting that tactics, preparation, knowledge and a little luck will prepare any profession for success against almost any foe.
you bring a sage voice to these boards, thanks again
When I look at a Commando as a TKA I see a pretty even fight to be honest. I know I'm going to get burned. The question is, can I get him down and lay the boots to him before I burn to death. If the answer is yes, I win, if no I lose and sometimes...rarely, we incap one another and that to me translates into pretty darn good balance.
What I don't like is a rifleman at 64m, puts TWO mind bleeds on me and runs away until I bleed out. My only recourse in this fight is to run the opposite way of him and find a place to meditate in safety until the bleeds are gone and then I still have to recover all those lost points. They never seem to miss...ever, and the bleeds don't care if you're a wookie like me with no armor or some other race in full armor. Bleed protective clothing doesn't make a hill of beans difference either. There is zero balance there...unless of course you have a doctor on your heels, or you are a doctor and can heal your own bleeds which in reality = another time sink. Why? You gotta make the packs, you have to gather the resources for those too. It's a pain. You want to cause a bleed? Level up, nothing further required other than having a weapon in hand.
TKM is for the new players who dont know how to do anything. YOu guys say you have to formulate tactics, give me a break. All you do is kd and spam uh3, thats it. As a pikeman you definately have to think as EVERYTHING is stacked against you. That said, if we had the advantages you did, I wouldnt have to think either, just click on two buttons and I am done.
The profession is overpowered if you compare it to say Pikeman or swordsman. However, the TKM in the "books" where able to kill jedi and did that. So, perhaps they should be super human. But then double the skill point costs if the Devs want "balance". Or, even better, make the other melee professions as capable. That is what I want. I want to see swordsmen and Pikemen able to do what a TKM can do with out having to spend all their remaining skill points in the other melee professions like I did.
So dont nerf TKMs just make PIKEMEN better.
