Look at your toon while you go to fight something. You will see it doing some unusual evade actions. This happens when you get.
Blah Blah uses Cho Mok but miss
It seems like Melee Def speaking but if you see your toons you will see it does something.
I know about the chitchat about melee def and dodge/counter/block. There is something else going on.
I am pretty happy with TKA right now. If kinetic doesn't work, you can whip out something else. I whip out my T21 or Disruptor. If you get outdamaged by a fencer, you can pick up fencer then you can meditate and do track load of damage. Anti-KD food is readly available too. I suppose if I were you make the best of the situation.

How many things in the game has 100% Def VS both Stun and kinetic?
How many have 100% VS kinetic.
What damage type is best in PvP
Fencer has the highest defence for one prof in The game. You can stack with pistoleer for more dodge, DA does not even work properly, +91 DA is like +10 dodge.
Fair enough remove meditation, but give tka 5x the state defence, give us 105 dodge, same as fencer, 2 new weapons with other damage types.
As for ham costs

So my VK's have higher overall ham costs than both your weapons, not to mention health and action costs are removed by buffs. wielding a fencer weapon i dodge 9 out of 10 attacks
Tka i dodge maybe 1 out of 10.
Tka defences dont need a nerf, fencer needs to be severly nerfed for defences.

I checked my stats again. You ppl are absolutely right, we have comparably low status defenses.
Wearing some clothes should help but probably +50 stun. You'll probably have to eat some anti-intim and anti-kd food. I have seen +90 kd def food.
Nonetheless, we probably should get a bit more bonuses.
I am highly against getting rid of meditation. It is one of perks of being high level TKA. (The original poster probably isn't high level enough to see the TRUE effect of meditation. And, I am not about to become a doctor since it will stop me from doing OTHER things.)

TKA does have low status defenses, but they are low along with other professions who have much less in the way of all the other defenses as well. TKA is tied for lowest value for D vs blind, D vs KD, D vs intimidate, and has the lowest value alone for D vs dizzy. TKA does not have the lowest value for D vs posture change and stun. This is OFFSET by having extremely high toughness, melee and ranged defenses, combat equilibrium, meditation, etc. Here's an easy to read chart of the defensive stats.
