Thread: My take on the new Razor Knuckler

I didn't say it was a "expletive deleted" weapon. I'm not saying it sucks because its going to be rare and expensive. It does though. There will be a select few with these......

The main problem with this is stated above. Read them. Its not about "I'm not getting one", or "expletive deleted"iness.

I think its great we're finally getting options, and the ability to use tactics and not just "kd2/unarmedhit3" till it dies. I'm guilty of that one.....

I think it could have been implimented better. I realize that some limits need to be placed, and the requirement for the NS Vibro unit more than does that. Unfortunately that takes us into the economy lessons, that don't need to be gone into here.

It can also be said that I argue whole heartedly for the "casual gamers" out there. I do. I'm not sure if I am one of them or not. I spend alot of time in this game, not neccesarily power leveling characters, or amassing millions of credits, but I spend alot of time ingame. I think that even Joe Blow, who only plays an hour or 2 a week deserves the opportunity to own something like this.

I don't think that everything should be handed to me. I DO think that if you are going to introduce a new damage type into a class, that anyone playing that class deserves the opportunity to use that damage type. You could argue that we all have that opportunity, we just have to play more, and earn the money for it. Some people can't do that. Some people, unlike me, have lives to attend to. Jobs to go to, and families to work around. Now before you go off into saying that you don't care what everyone else gets, as long as you get yours.....

As a master marksman, you can do multiple types of damage, with very little expenditure. As a TKM you can do one.....soon, with enough credits, you can do 2!! I don't see this as fair to the class as a whole. "Sure we'll give you a new damage type, but its really going to cost you."

Yes its a good thing, but no, its being done wrong.....I don't care how you put it.

If you read the posts above, you'll understand the "stealth nerf" refrence.

Why do TKA's complain about it? You all are already the most powerful templete in the game, you can heal your own wounds. POwerpoost, med, and do wicked amount of damage

I could heal my own wounds BEFORE I became a TKA, Powerboost is worthless next to a good buff, and wicked amounts of damage, to anything with low Kinetic resists. But in exchange for that damage, we take damage, our armor is VERY short lived. Yes, sure we're powerful, but it's expensive.

But this isn't about the profession its about the damage types available, and our weapon selection.

Yeah, but Powerboost with a nice buff is awesome. I don't really think we needed another damage type at all. Even if these things are exceptionally rare there will be people bitching that we get multiple damage types on top of our powerful attacks/being able to target all HAM bars. I would have left well enough alone....

minor correction. Currently the most powerful template is CM & Rifleman. TKA's were the most powerful a very long time ago, before 80% composite was so popular and when timers on KDs didn't exist....if you know the timeline...that was a very long time ago.

We are looking down the barrel at finally getting a bone thrown in our direction.....its really too bad that its a solid gold, diamond inlaid bone, that most of us aren't going to be able to afford. The rarity of NS vibro motors is going to drive this weapons price up nearly equal to, or even more than Krayt weapons. Normal, casual players like myself are screwed on this one. I don't have millions to spend on weapons and armor. I'll never own one of these......thanks for thinking about me though.

Damage....ooh heat!!

This my friends is a stealth nerf if I ever saw one. Ask a commando what its like to have your best weapon limited by the fact that nearly anything worth killing, is resistant to it. What kind of sense does heat damage make? Oh, the blade is heated, causing minor heat damage? Just as easy to give us stun/electrical damage. "On contact, the blade releases a small electrical shock, doing both electrical, and stun damage"

With the speed of a typical punch, the blade isn't there long enough to cause any real heat damage. Whereas the electrical damage is more "realistic" as it is nearly instant. Ask anyone whose ever been hit by a taser. It don't take long to knock your butt out.

In summary, this thing is going to be so rare that its not funny, so expensive that even Bill Gates would think twice, and just as worthless as a solid diamond pile of bantha poodoo. Sure it looks nice, sounds nice, and even might be nice. But as a first step in bringing tactics to the TKA game, its absolutely horrible.....there are so many other ways this could have been done.

I read the entire thread and as much as I would like to debate the issue of additional damage types, I'm not going to anymore (well...maybe another time). I respect your opinion....but I definately don't see it your way and I am glad the new knuckers are going to be rare. There needs to be things to aspire to in this game and not everyone can have everything without LOADs of work. Ever hear the saying about looking a gift horse in the mouth? Believe me....if they start giving out additional damage types to TKA's (that are relativly easy to obtain), then you better bet that our other skills are going to be toned down. What do you prefer...more damage types or to keep our current skills as they are?

While I do agree with you, you could have been a lot more constructive (and flameless) about it.

SilentJay, if you don't like having "crappy" damage types, drop TK and do something else. I worked to TKM since day one and still don't think we should get another damage type. I mastered Fencer for the sole access to another working profession with an alternativedamage type.

You should be happy for at least getting new content added for TKs.

The bottom line here is that heat damage is one of only a few viable dmg types for the tk. Heat broadens the scope of what targets we can fight well, without blowing the door off of competition. With a max dmg of around 300 on thse things, if it had stun or restraint it would imediately unbalance the pvp playing field (albeit for the few who can obtain one.) Be thankful we aren't getting a weapon that will flood the market, or one that would give us stun damage, as the number of people complaining about TK being overpowered would increase tenfold. As for only a select few being able to afford it, it only makes sense that in any economy there will be items only the rich can afford. In this case, i think its actually the poor pikeman who are really getting the shaft. They have been struggling to get the ns motors for their vibro lance for a long time, and now they will have to deal with competition for the same item from one of the most overpopulated classes in the game. TK really has nothing to complain about here. We were nice before, we whined for a new damage type, we got one, now be happy with what you have. Beggers can't be choosers.

This isn't a democracy. It shouldn't be fair. You want it? *edit* earn it. I for one don't give a ratzz azz about whether another weapon is introduced to the TK classor not. But if they do introduce it live to the servers I hope it is freakin rare and that only the studs who put the effort in get it. Thats whats wrong with this game. Too many cry babies whining until it is all vanilla and "fair". No content, no real consequences, no real rewards. Screw that.

DUde...would you SHUT THE HELL UP!?!?! TKA is already overpowered (yes, i used to be TKM so dont say i dont know what i am talking about). TKA should be nerfed, not given something that does more damage. holy hell, you suggest a stun knuckler, are you friggin crazy? thats would make every other class worthless for PvP! Be happy that you got a new knuckler that looks cool as hell and does a new type ofdamage....and its really not that hard to get the nightsis vibros, ive gotten 2 sets of them in the past 2 weeks.

On thing you might definitely think is positive about the new Razor Knuckers...

With a max damage around 250 and spd around 2.5 (unsliced) with Heat Damage and AP1 (AP can multiple damage done), a TKM will be able to outdamage a Commando when it comes to DPS with no problem (Flame Throwers are typically max damage 850 with AP0 and speed of 4.8 to 5.5)...getting a hold of them is an issue, but then again, all you have to do is, as a community, is push for high NS Loot drop rates as well as have it drop off of more then just one specific NightSister...

Yes Heat damage will suck...The Commando Flame Thrower is useless against most of the new content the Devs have added to the game lately since NPCs like the Tuskin Executioner has 100% heat resists (Geons also have high heat resists)...

Do I think this weapon should be NERF'd because it can out damage (DPS)a Commando Flame Thrower, when the Commando profession is severely restricted due to our damage numbers? NO!!!! Do I think TKA's should be NERF'd? NO!!!!! The solution should be to bring Commandos and other profession us to the higher level rather then them brought down to ours...The fact that a TKM will be able to out damage a Commando via Damage Per Second is a Commando issue, not a TKA issue...it just means that Commandos need to be adjusted for Balance...

So as a community, I would fight for 2 things...More frequent NS Vibro Motor drops off of more then 1 NS....and for Heat Resists to be lowered on in game content and upcoming content...This would probably server you better then complaining about the rarity of this weapon or about getting the Damage type changed...Just my 2 cents...

I agree wholeheartedly garvin. While you're in here, any idea on when we can expect word on a replacement Correpsondent?
