Thread: (Read me before posting) Got a template question? Put it here!! Teräs Käsi Template Thread
Right now I'm working toward TKM/MS with Doc 4000. I've seen in this thread that some prefer not mastering another melee profession and take partial trees from some of them. I was told to go Master Swordsman for the power hammer, but it appears there could be some alternatives. I've also seen that some people suggest giving up Doc but I love being able to heal myself without having to use items, and the profession will be even better after Pub 19.
I'd like to be able to be an efficient tank for PVE hunts, but also want to be able to hold my own in PVP. What would best suit TKM and Doc 4000? Open to suggestions involving FS as well.
After I've earned a lot of badges I may respec to TKM/MCH in the future because I just love pets. If I do it, it will be for fun. I know it's not the best route to take, but will at least remain competent?
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys. New to TKA (and new to the game, really) so I'm not positive on how I want to design my template.

In PvP you need to be able to deal damage hard and fast cause often your window of opportunity is quite slim if you're up against a good player, so I'd say Sword - if not a must - is very nice to have. Dunno about Pikeman's damage output, but Fencer is probably not as hot a choice until their DoT's get some love.
Healingis a must in PvP and very nice to have in PvE unless you always group with a Doc, so 4xxx Doc or 4xxx CM is almost mandatory (IMO).
For PvP the ability to slow down your opponent would help alot, so I'm probably gonna experiment with 4xx4 CM or 4xx1 CM in the future and just dabble in Sword, if anyone has already tried this, please chime in.
Okies, just started the game this past week or so. Am interested in TKA 'cause I like all the punching and not having to rely on gear so much. My problem is that my gf is wanting to be a crafter, so I've been volunteered to become a scout of some sort to gather for her. So my question really is: Is there a combination of TKA and some scout class that would allow me: 1) little downtime 2) solo-ability 3) fairly quick killing speed & 4) gathering abilities?
Thanks in advance. ![]()
What kind of crafter? If she wants you to drop CL94 Krayt Dragons you don't need scout at all, and should probably forget about TKA.
If she's going tailor or armorsmith and wants bone, hideand wooly hide, then most of those are below CL40 - meaning, even as Novice Scout, Master TKA you will be able to drop them quickly and safely.
If you want an all-melee template you could go; MTKA / x431 Sword / 4xxx CM / Novice Scout.
I'm unsure if this will give you CL80 or not - which will be important if you plan on soloing CL80-82 mobs that drop loot, apart from harvesting mobs.

I am TKM as well as MRanger, I get all the perks of Ranger and am cl 80. This is a hard path, but one I find most rewarding. I can solomostcl 82-83 critters in the game. If you gonna team up with your girl, Rangers lvl's will let you camo her, and you can give her kits for when you are not around (works better tho if you do it). As a Ranger you will be able to pull one mob at a time. As a TKM you will be able to 'Tank' the critter, have your girl take up a ranged profession, for the 2 of you would be unstopable. The thing is Ranger is a ruff path, cost the most skill points of any profession. Most Rangers are rifleman, but I am stuborn and have liked tk from the start.
Currently working on the following (post 19th update)
((Master Smuggler/ Master TKA)) Swords 0/0/4/4/and lastly 4 points in FS ranged defense
My question is: Will this give me enough unarmed damaged to be viable...will be using Katarn knuckles at TKM.
Im hearing good things bout both pikes and fencer.
Wondering if perhaps foregoing swords and adding Master Brawler is a option.
Bottom line ...where to go with those last 2 trees.

I'm also curious about which weapon you use and what sort of tactics you use.
I have TKM, MSwords, MBrawler, Pike 0443, and many peeps I duel have trouble damaging me.
Tactics:
-Keep CoB running at ALL TIMES. Macro it if need be. I prefer to do everything manually, but it's just a personal preference.
-ARMOR BREAK IS YOUR FRIEND.
-Use Power Boost. It isn't much, but 500 extra health can make a difference. You have to plan ahead though, as it requires meditation to fire. It lasts 10 minutes.
-Use Intimidate, stun, dizzy and warcry if need be. Those together really bork your opponents accuracy.
-Sword flurry is also a good thing to have running, though I think it only lasts 5-10 seconds and may not be worth the constant action pool loss.
-Use KD tactically. I like to apply state debuffs, KD then power strike/hit (forgot what it's officially called). If you're having trouble laying down your state debuffs, KD them and then debuff.
Most say go either all melee or all ranged now with the CU, and that ranged is currently more powerful. I'm just coming back from a LONG hiatus to try out the new system and I was always a melee guy. I don't want to give all that up, but I also love the new rifleman style with cover, conceal shot, kneecap, etc.
Is TKM/MRifle with the rest in medic feasible as a build? My reasons are as follows, so tell me if I'm off-base on any of these ideas:
With innate armor I won't have to purchase armor or deal with the penalties of it. This lets me wear all BE clothing.
I'll be able to heal my wounds and cure poisons and disease with meditation.
I'll try to do most of my damage from range, but will be a tank if they close the distance and probably be surprised when I don't die easily in melee range.
I can leg sweep and run to regain distance if they do get close and then kneecap to keep the distance.
Medic 0-4-3-0 would allow me to heal decently on myself or others with Toss and Spray.
I know these are broad statements that are not situational. Please tell me where I'm wrong. Would 0-4-3-0 Medic be enough, do you think? I wouldn't be too opposed to dropping some of rifle if it was unneeded so that I could go Doc or CM for better heals.
